Blacky, I see where the latest Bios 1.00.09 (Bios) and 1.00.04 (EC) on the D900F supports The GTX 480, will this update support the GTX 680m as well?

    Thanks,
    Charlie

My bad, I already have the latest offered installed...1.00.09 and EC 1.00.04. I was asking where I could get the revision that support the GTX 680m if there is one.

I don't think there ever was one. What would be possible is to contact @Prema, send him some bitcoin, and ask him if he can add the GTX 680M to your bios list.

I sent him a message a few days ago but he's a busy man. There's a bios out there somewhere because Eurocom has this as an update option on the D900F.

I see. Then maybe ask Eurocom. It is likely that they may have modified the BIOS and only they have it.

They probably won't come off with it if your not buying their upgrade kit. I'm kinda contemplating upgrading it anyway. Hard to justify throwing 700 bucks at an 8 year old machine. Can't tell it's 8 years old though. Cosmetically, it looks like a year old max. Thanks for the help man!

    Good day, everyone!
Sorry for stupid questions, but... I use (still) old Clevo M860TU, with BIOS 1.02.16
Is it possible to add/remove/edit in BIOS "OS installed"setting? There are now two possible OS to choose - Vista and XP. But they are not exist on my laptop!
Second question - is this EFI or BIOS? Cause again, there is possible in advanced section make Legacy mode enabled/disabled. But if it is EFI, why there is no EFI-shell to work with? Is it blocked by manufacturer?
    Thanks in advance

It's not EFI, it's normal BIOS. They only have XP and Vista for Windows 10, use Vista or Win 7 as an option. I use Vista on my M570TU with Win 10 and it works fine.

Yes, you are right, once i choose Vista it is possible to install Win 7 or 10 and there i can also put hard drive in AHCI mode.
How do you set Legacy mode in BIOS for Win10? Enabled or Disabled?
I am little bit confused, i put Legacy disabled, prepared usb-drive for EFI-windows and installed WIN 10 with GPT-partitioned hard drive (not MBR) and i have now 200 mb partition which contains boot file for win 10.
That is what i don't understand, GPT is commonly use for EFI type if BIOS.

That's normal how an EFI - GPT Windows installation should look like. I think it doesn't matter if you set it to Legacy or not, Legacy should be enabled only if you want to boot an older OS, like say FreeDOS or MsDOS.

Hello, just signed up here and i want to ask for some assistance with BIOS as i am a complete noob and never performed one.
_So, i have a Clevo P151HM1 and i have downloaded from your site the last known BIOS update but don't know which one applies better for me: ''The USB'' files or just the entire release that is above?
_I read that i should use Rufus and format a USB stick so it can read DOS files ?Anyway, would somebody like to tell me step by step what to do etc. in order not to make any mistake?
_ BIOS updates downloaded from here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-bios-older-models.556299/

(If it's possible to pm me it would be better i suppose?)

You first need to create a bootable USB stick with DOS or FreeDos.
There are plenty of online guides for creating that.

You then create a folder on the usb stick and unpack the archive you have downloaded in that folder.
You then reboot the system and boot from the USB stick.
Using DOS commands you navigate to this folder and update the EC/KBC first, you need to run the bat file that does the update. System will reboot and you go again on the USB stick and than run the bat file for the BIOS update.
    That's about it.

    - And what commands would they be? What should be the first command and the next ?
    - The bios folder contains 2 subfolders. One is the EC and the other is the BIOS as you said. Each one has 3 files. So, from all these files you claim that i should use only the .bat files to update? Shouldn't i mess with the other two ?
    Thanks for helping me btw_

You first go into the EC folder and run update.bat by typing the file's name. After the update restart, go in the BIOS folder and run the update.bat file .

Ok, i made it to a point but still.... I copied the 2 folders ( EC & BIOS ) in the USB after the free-dos format, rebooted, managed to boot via the USB and then i hit the -dir command- like this: '' dir EC13 ''
and found the folder which contained the update.bat file and then i typed: C:\>UPDATE hit the enter but a message followed saying ''Bad command or filename''.. What am i doing wrong? Which DOS commands do i need to navigate to a folder and then run a file ?

hi all I have a laptop on 860CU card is inserted 460mGTX, but gained 660mGTX when installed in the laptop fan blades at full and blinking diodes, the laptop turns off after 30 seconds. I suppose that the BIOS of the laptop does not know about this card. how can you get her to work? how can I add information to the BIOS about the video card?

Don't know if anybody is still watching this thread, but I'm trying to update my old W230ST to the latest from the front page (2014! How did I miss this?) and can't for the life of me get USB boot to work. I've tried Rufus, the HP USB-boot tool, and unetbootin, with various permutations of MS DOS, FreeDOS, and the Windows 98 boot image (DOS based I guess?). In all cases, I pick the option to boot USB, see the screen go black for a second, then the system obviously reboots (numlock light goes off then on) and starts Windows. I've tried picking USB boot both from BIOS and from the Windows "advanced boot" screen, including removing Windows Boot from the boot order -- doing so results in a message along the lines of "please insert valid boot media". I have also done the advanced scan (bad sectors, etc) in Rufus, to make sure the media I'm using is valid.

Is there something else I'm likely to be missing here, that would let me boot to DOS successfully?

Make sure you have Legacy USB support enabled in BIOS.

I don't think the W230ST has a Legacy option, the BIOS is pretty limited from the look of it. I was finally able to boot by disabling UEFI completely -- the only options were "enabled" or "disabled". BIOS is up to date now, at least.

    Hello to All,
My name is Patrice and I'm new in this forum.
I own a Clevo M860TU and my graphic card (NVidia 9800M GTS 512MB, old MXM 3 connector) died a few weeks ago.
    • BIOS : 1.01.08
    • EC : 1.00.08
    • OS : Windows XP
I've found on EBay two working cards (spare parts are hard to find!), so I can boot and access the BIOS :
Do you think I have/need to upgrade the BIOS to :
    1. Install WIndows 7
    2. make the BIOS recognize the NVidia GTS160M. It's not mandatory, but It should be fine due to better performances compared to 9800M GS.
In the case of an upgrade, Is there a procedure to save a copy of the current bioses ?

Thank you in advance for your advices.
    Patrice.

I don't think any BIOS update will help you. I suspect a BIOS update might help with other issues but not with the video card.
If Windows doesn't recognise the video card, but your laptop boots into Windows, you need special modded drivers to install the video card: https://laptopvideo2go.com/

    Thank you Blacky,
I didn't try further to boot Windows because I just put the card inside to check if it works.
I have to apply thermal paste before.
So, if I understand well :
    • To install WIndows 7, I need to install the lastest EC 1.00.13 and BIOS 1.02.17
    • but GTS160M is possibly shown as "unknown".
    Am I right ?

    Thank you,
    Patrice.

I think that is correct. Also the M860TU, just like the M570TU does not have a video card white list in BIOS, so in theory any card with MXM 2.1 will work. I know for certain I had a 9600M in my M570TU for a brief period of time.
