Yup I do. You state your issues began when you introduced a new stick of ram. Therefore it is the ram. If you don't think it's the ram, then you must have had issues before. It's that simple. A BIOS doesn't all of a sudden go bad. And I don't care if you are a "professional computer technician."

Bad day? His BIOS could have bad to begin with, but the problem just didn't manifest itself until he tried adding another stick of RAM.

If it passes memtest and works with one stick of RAM, it might be the physical RAM slot.

Well my reseller emailed me bios10 and EC08. Don't know if it's diferente from the one of mysn. Don't if i should flash it since i'm already using the ones from mysn. I'm uploading right now. If some one whant's to take a look and tell me if it's ok to flash the same version i would apreciate.

A long time ago I had a similar issue, almost identical actually and it did turn out to be the ram. Back then I figured out it was the ram by replacing the 2 sticks with other 2 sticks of ram.

Now, in your case it may not be the RAM, it could be the slot or MB.

However, a BIOS flash won't hurt either, because the BIOS could also be a problem.
What model did you say you have?

I have just successfully (/X) flashed my P170HM to the latest P150HM Bios + EC after Prema verified it would work.

The fan ramping up issues have vanished although my Subwoofer in't working. I forgot the P150HM didn't have one of those.

I will test further to see how it goes. My system is a lot quieter and consistent now, there are no annoying fan noise going up and down now.

Oh,I didn't realize that. I reinstalled the RealTek Audio and the THX Studio. It activated fine but FN+5 no longer changes the mode. The audio sounds good though.

    Edit:

Prema mentioned that I only needed to flash the P150Hm EC to get the better fan control so Ive gone back to the P170Hm Bios now too.

Strictly speaking, BIOS may cause hardware memory problems. For example, BIOS may incorrectly read SPD values from the particular module and incorrectly program chipset memory controller. But in most cases, of course, memory problems are caused by memory ICs.

I have the Sager BIOS files from hulawafu77. I think you should message him and try to figure out want is going on with him. Maybe he didn't extract the BIOS correctly. Or maybe the BIOS got corrupted when I uploaded it.

    Hello,
As I never flashed a new bios before, and I know its a bit more "dangerous" than updating drivers so I came here just to make sure which bios and ec is the best for me. I have a VORTEX 3 laptop but I'm not sure if its a clevo or sager.
Is it 100% safe to do to follow the steps on the first page or would anybodty suggest me any special step on this particular model.

    Thanks.

You have to flash to BIOS 05 and matching EC first, then only update to EC 10 & BIOS10...:hi2:

Function Fn + 1 still not works (, but now fans working properly, agressive under pressure (gaming) and much quieter without gaming or any load. Artifacts on screen will be if you flash your bios by Sager version. Dont do it, flash by vanilla Clevo bios , or XMG (same). https://www.mysn.de/secure/userarea...BF2&show=Support&source=webgains&siteid=54264 XMG > P502 BX10 EC09 , boot logo will change if your laptop not xmg.

I wish there was a changelog. Does it need EC10 before flashing to the new one? I'm at bios10 with EC08... if it's ok i would skip EC09 and EC10.

Because 1.02.xx version BIOS can't work with 1.00.xx version EC, it is necessary to make sure the EC firmware of the machine is 1.02.xx, if the EC firmware of machine is 1.00.xx then the system will not boot up after update 1.02.xx system BIOS.... ;)

Yes i read that. The question was if i could skip ec09 and ec10, flash directly EC1.02.xx from EC08. And then the bios.

YES, Sorry it wasn't meant as a reply to your question, Just as a general info for everyone. ;)

Only if a P1x0EM system is on an older BIOS/EC than 05 an update to 05 is required first.

    ONCE AGAIN:
YOU HAVE TO UPDATE TO THE NEW EC FIRST AND THEN ONLY THE BIOS OR YOUR SYSTEM WILL BRICK!

Yes Im using Windows 8 Pro x64 , hotkey 8.0071 (from mysn > XMG) after BIOS update only works correctly for me now , 6.00.69 not work now. 71 version is older thn 69 , but optimized for win8. for example backlight keyboard in 71 is version 1.4 , but in 69 - version 1.5 , and version 69 works faster and load faster. sorry my english not good : p

I'm getting an error, when trying to update the new BIOS 1.02.14, the EC 1.02.12 updated fine.
"Error 25: The host CPU does not have write access to the target flash area. To enable write access for this operation you must modify the descriptor settings to give host access to this region."
So right now im on EC 1.02.12 and BIOS 1.00.05

XMG P702 is Clevo P170EM , with new bios for windows 8 you need use this hotkey (be sure before install , run file " RUNME" in hotkey folder) https://www.mysn.de/secure/userarea...QQXMGQQXMG_P502_und_P702QQWin8QQ06_Hotkey.zip , for windows 7 latest hotkey is 6.00.69 here you can download it Hotkey 6.0069.zip
