    Hello prema

I will be very grateful if you can put together some sort of guide on how to install the bios and ec files, I need to know which files to launch in which folder and what I am doing wrong that I get a 'cannot open file' error message when launching ecflash.bat in ec1 folder

    Many thanks

Hi @Prema, I was looking for a solution everywhere, but I could not solve my problem: my notebook Clevo W170ER does not see the whole new RAM (8GB from 16GB). Bios PremaMod-1.02.16PMv3. Could you suggest a solution and give a link to the latest BIOS version for my laptop? Thank!

Hi, folks I just brought in Ebay an used EUROCOM Sky X9E2 aka P870DM2_DM3 in perfect condition and I want to extract the maximum performance as possible for this notebook.
    Specs:
i7-6700K (will be replaced for a delided 7700K)
Single Nvidia GTX 1080 (no plans for SLI)
    16GB GSkill memory 2400MHZ

Is it recommended to find an unlocked Bios for CPU overclock? A delided 7700K CPU will help to maintain the temperature to an overclock about 5.0GHz? Is there available any mobile GTX 1080 moded vBios?

    Thanks.

About 2100$. So this isn't a good gamer laptop after all, what a waste.I sold my old M18X-R2 to get this one. I hoped an unlocked sBIOS like Prema's could help extract some juice from it. But thanks anyway.

Isn't the heat sink / cooling system on the KM1 a lot different than the DM2/DM3? @Papusan and @Mr. Fox, don't you both have hands on experience with the DM2/DM3? Can you help out @Tulius out with the question regarding CPU and experience with cooling?

I have owned the M17xR2, M18xR1, M18xR2, AW18 and the P870DM/DM3 were both better products. I did not have as many thermal management challenges with them as I did with the Alienware systems. However, Clevo does have kind of a heat sink lottery. If you get one that is badly overheating after a delid, it has a defective heat sink and it needs to be replaced. I have needed to use AC cooling for overclocking ALL laptops. None run cool enough for heavy overclocking using their native cooling alone. None of them I owned had overheating issues running stock or with a modest overclock and undervolted.

The KM1 cooling system is different and doesn't seem as good as the DM2/3. The TM1 seems to have the best for the CPU. I have never owned a KM1 or TM1. I think all of them have better cooling than the original P870DM-G.

The EVOC P870DM3 was my favorite laptop out of all that I have ever owned. I loved the M18xR2, but not as much as I did the P870DM3. The only thing better about the Alienwares was their anodized aluminum chassis.

    I'm looking at buying this - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/octaneVI-17/

    Which Clevo model is it?

And I had a look at the old Premamod website that you used to be able to down load BIOSes from and it is no more.

How does one go about acquiring Premamods these days?

    Cheers.

Hi, I'm trying to update the ec on my clevo N850HK1. I've got the necessary files on a bootable usb drive, but when I boot into dos and type in ecflash.bat, this message pops up:
"The ROM file size is over 64K.".

    Contents of the usb drive:

I've already asked my reseller, but they couldn't tell what was going wrong. Entering the error message into google also gave me nothing.
Does anyone have any clue as to what could be the problem?

I think I've seen this before if you update from an older version of BIOS to a newer one. You might need to flash an intermediate version, before going to the latest one.

IIRC the .EFI and .NSH files are too big for FreeDOS (assuming you made it bootable for that environment), which might explain the error. Are you trying to run this with UEFI enabled or disabled?

Yes, I used Rufus to make it bootable for FreeDOS, as my reseller instructed me to do. UEFI was disabled when I tried it.

I don't think you will get the larger .efi or .nsh files to work in a FreeDOS environment. Everything now seems to be flashed using those with UEFI enabled.

    Hello

Were you able to manage the fan speed on Clevo W150HNM model ?

I have the same issue: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-w150-hr-change-the-fan-do-i-need-to-upgrade-it.827976/

After I have changed the thermal paste it was not sufficient to stop the fan. As it is always on, even at low temperature, I guess that it could be some BIOS problem. The BIOS is Phoenix SecureCore Tiano Setup

I do appreciate if someone could help me!

Your drive needs to be made bootable for UEFI, so you'll have to get additional/different files from your seller to make that work. The update process should be the same otherwise.

Unless you're experiencing any firmware-related problems, that's probably best to leave it as is.

Hello, I already solved the problem! I bought a new notebook. Now I need to decide what to do with the old one. It is still good and is working very well, however I am considering just to work with it at home. Outside home, a light weigth laptopmakes a lot of difference, mainly on public transportation (buss and subway)

True, thinner and lighter is easier to manage while out and about. It's always good to have a backup system you can keep safe at home. :)

Of course! It has a great 15.7'' screen size. It is perfect for those who loves to code, watch movies, etc..

Someone could advice me how could I check on BIOS or any other place if is possible to change the CPU (the current is a i5 2520M) for a new generation CPU ? I mean, the current i5 has a TDP of 35W, and I would like to use one that dissipate less power (8W for example). Is there any candidate to substitute it and use the same socket ?

AFAIK, the BIOS & socket (PPGA on your system vs FCPGA on later CPUs) limit you to 2nd Gen chips, your best upgrade probably being a 27xxQM or 29xxXM.

    Hello,
I searched a lot of information today about m2 drives. For some reason, Samsung 950 Pro can boot a P650SE, but a 960 evo cannot.
Someone tried the 970 evo plus?

    You have a P650HS, not a P650SA.

I think you only make it compatible with a modded bios.

Send an email to @Donald@HIDevolution or tech support at HID and ask if there is a new firmware for your laptop. You won't find any firmware on Clevo's driver download website.

@Lynx2017 - Seconding Papusan's post, HID will have to provide it to you upon request. It's a good idea to let them know which BIOS & KBC/EC version you currently have when you contact them.

    Hi all,

I'm not a PC expert or a gamer, just an engineer who needs a fast computer for CAD work. I have some dumb questions about a laptop I bought used a few years ago.

CPU speed (especially single thread) and disk i/o speed are very important. I do long modeling runs where the CPU will max out for hours.

    Specs:
    • Xidax/Clevo P750DM-G
    • i7 6700k
    • 32GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM
    • 2x128Gb NVME PCIE SSD Boot drives in raid 0
    • CUSTOM PremaMod Nvidia 970m MXM 3.0 upgradable graphics with 6Gb GDDR5
I recently had to reinstall Win 10 from scratch (from a USB drive) so I had to reinstall a bunch of drivers. I got most of them here:
    https://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-servi...sp?Lmodel=P7xxDM/P7xxDM-G&ltype=9&submit=+GO+

Ok, now for the dumb questions: :D

    1) CPU-Z says the BIOS is AMT 1.05.05 so I assume this means stock BIOS and not Prema, or could it still be Prema? How can I tell?
    2) If BIOS is stock then what are my options for overclocking and/or undervolting?
    3) How do I use the custom video BIOS which is supposed to be there?
    4) Is the Prema Mod BIOS on the video card itself or on the mobo? If the former, then what if I decide to upgrade the video card?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Rick

First boot into USB key and type: meset
The computer will restart on its own with the fans to the max, that is normal. Boot into USB key again with f7 and type: flashme

    Done

For those who need to update their bios on P751TM1-G:

    Use bigspin method:

But a little difference first: Enter MeSetX64.efi on Shell

    Second boot: flash.nsh

Now my bios is up to date thank's for your help

I see there is a new BIOS version ( 1.07.15 ) for the XMG P707 2017 (Clevo P670HS-G Kaby Lake), but I'm wondering is it the correct version as the previous BIOS version was 1.0 5.14?
Same for EC, new is 1.07.06, from previous 1.0 5.05

I'm being cautious and checking because all previous BIOS updates were 1.0 5.XX

I have an issue here that may be BIOS related, on the EVOC P775TM1-R: The special keys (Fn+ combination keys) do not work on battery power.
For instance, if I need to lower my laptop's brightness on battery power, I cannot do so by pressing Fn+F8, yet the same combination works on AC.
    What gives? cc @Papusan @Vasudev

Contact EVOC, they may have updated firmware.

Post same question in the Official Sager NP9175 / Clevo P775TM Owner's Lounge! thread also.
