Hi,
You need the BIOS for a W150HM; you can find it here: http://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/
Flash EC first, BIOS second.
The HM series is not the same as the ER series. Though they are similar, on the above link, you should also find manuals to help understand what you can do with your second mini card slot.
These are all compatible processors with your socket: http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket G2 (rPGA988B).html
The laptop will accept 45W processors, not sure if the 3rd generation Intel Core processors are compatible.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for information you gave me.
I’m not sure about the 3rd generation, but I’ll look further for more information about it.
I will be back soon with a reply about the upgrades made to the laptop.
Cheers -

I thought most were updated to allow the 3rd gen, there was not a huge difference at the end of the day between the two.

Well, I gave up about the 3rd gen of CPU because from what everyone is saying, most probably will not gonna work. I've upgraded already from i5-2520M to i7-2860QM and it works. I've used Arctic Silver 5 as a thermal compound.
Now I'm looking further for upgrading RAM memory. I have already 4GB RAM 1333Mhz CL9 on my laptop. From what do I know, I should be able to upgrade up to max 8GB on 1600 frequency.
I want to specify that CPU-Z an Speecy say that I have 4 memory slots, but the reality is that I have only 2, that's insane, don't you think?
Do you think it is possible that my laptop motherboard to support up to 16GB of RAM? Is there any way to get more than 8? On the W170HN manual, is specified that this motherboard is support a CPU up to Intel® Core i7-2820QM, but I got the 2860QM one... maybe this is applying on RAM's as well...
I'm looking to upgrade the wi'fi card after I do the RAM's first, so I'm looking for a dual band this time because the current one support only 2.4Ghz wi'fi connections, but I need one which have Bluetooth like this one is installed already. Do you have any suggestions?
I'm looking further for a reply. Thanks!Last edited: May 7, 2019 -

1866mhz is usually unsafe bet too even though unofficially supported.
-
Hello, I'm back and I want to thank you for the support!! I appreciate!
I want to specify the upgrades that I've made on my laptop:
1) Intel Core i5-2520M >>> Intel Core i7-2860QM
2) 4GB RAM DDR3 1333Mhz CL9 >>> 8GB RAM Dual Channel DDR3 1600Mhz CL9
3) Default WLAN & Bluetooth Module (Support only 2.4Ghz band) >>> Intel Centrino Wireless-N 6230 & Bluetooth Module (Support 5Ghz band, which is great)
4) 1TB Samsung SSD 860 EVO & 480GB KINGSTON A400 SSD
Now it's a huge difference about performance.
Thanks again! -
That's the benefit of having an upgradeable laptop.

Hello, I think I should open a thread or something to ask, but can't find a way so I ask here,
I have a Clevo W840SN from 2013 (approx.) which was sold by LDLC (french reseler), I bought a new 8GB RAM to upgrade it, but can't manage to make the computer regognize it. The LDLC Bios was very restrictive so I updated it with the AMI bios upgrade found on repo.palkeo.com. The upgrade went well but the bios (AMI 4.6.5) was still very restricive (the chipset tab ain't displayed and the advanced one is almost empty), I tried to configure a new bios with AmiBCP v4.53 but was not succesfull with it. What can i do to help my pc recognize and configure the new RAM, thanks a lot for your support -
Did you buy a single 8GB RAM stick?
My old M570TU from 2009 recognises 8 GB of RAM (2 x 4GB). -
Yes I wanted to replace my old 4GB RAM with a new 8GB and put the 4GB on another machine
-
I've checked the manual and it says you need DDR3L SO-DIMM memory in modules of 2, 4, or 8GB and maximum memory is 16 GB.
Make sure your memory DDR3L (1.35V or lower). -
Hi, I just received a BIOS file from Sager. The version is 913bv17ls1 and 913ec11.
It seems old, I want to upgrade o a GTX 765m. Should I use the BIOS you provide or use the one Sager sent me?
Thank you.

Hard to say, in our initial post we have BIOS v 13 and EC v 12 from Sanger. Download our files from the initial post and check the date of your files with the ones we have.
-
Hello, thanks for your reply, I've checked the memory, it's a 1.5v, that's why I wanted to upgrade the BIOS and access the chipset tab in which I should be able to change the voltage... Where did you find the manual ? Did he says if the card allows to change RAM voltage ? Thanks again for all you do
-
No, the manual doesn't state it can change the voltage. However, since the manual says it only supports 1.35V, I can only assume it will supply the memories with 1.35V of power, which for your memories, might not be enough. In your case, I suspect the memories you have are incompatible with the laptop.
-
Ok, going to buy a new one with 1.35v as it seems to be the only solution, thank for your support

Downloaded BIOS/EC for my W150R but since the files are not part of a bootable image, nothing happens when I try to boot from the CD that contains the burned files. How do I actually make the CD bootable? Is there a separate bootloader?
-
You can make a bootable USB stick with FreeDOS using Rufus. You can then copy the files to the USB stick and run the appropriate bat files.
-
My BIOS settings don't have USB as an option to boot from, hence my trying to use a CD. Any ideas how to boot from one?
Also wondering whether it is safe to use the W150ERQ files for my W150R.Last edited: Jun 25, 2019Blacky likes this. -
Are you sure? The USB stick option usually appears only if there is a USB stick plugged in and if you have Legacy USB support enabled.
-
Here are all possible BIOS options: http://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/ There is no W150R, but it has to be one of the laptops in the list.
-
Deleted previous post. Checking for USB support in BIOS. Will update.
-
Is there a Rufus alternative for Linux Mint that allows to do what you suggested? The built-in USB creator and whatever I found online only allow to create a bootable USB if you have an image, so basically the same situation as I was facing with CD burning.
P.S. My machine does load from a USB. Confirmed with an image of Linux Mint that contains the grub bootloader. All I need now is a bootable image containing EC/BIOS or a way to copy the firmware files to a bootable USB.Last edited: Jun 25, 2019 -
In theory, if you create the USB stick from the image and then open the USB stick with Windows Explorer, you should be able to copy the files to the USB stick. Then boot from the USB stick.
-
This is not possible, since the bootable USB is created as read-only. Guess the OP should be updated with instructions on how to do this for non-image firmware. By the way, the link to the zfactor's guide is broken.
-
I see, you could use HP bootable USB creation tool then. Strange that the USB you created read only.

Hello,
I am sorry if it's wrong thread, but i can't find my laptop listed anywhere.
I have a problem with Clevo W740SU. I gave it to the service and it turned out that BIOS is broken and the only option is to reprogram BIOS chip. Unfortunetly we can't find full BIOS for that (version of bios for update can't be used). Does anyone maybe have it ? I wrote few emails to clevo but no answer :/ -
Try this http://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/
There are separate files there for EC and BIOS. -
It was my first thought but unfortunately it can't be done with those files, because they are for updates only (at least this is what they told me) :/
-
I am fairly certain they are the full version.

hi there
i have a p170em and downloaded the latest sager ec and bios. i upgraded the ec first and it did not ask to reboot. when i went to bios ec updated from 1.00.08 to 1.00.10 rather than 1.02 as expected. someone else mentioned something similar in this thread. should i continue with bios update? -
I'm inclined to say no. I am also surprised that this happened.
My suggestion is to try to update to the stock Clevo BIOS and EC and forget about the SAGER one. -
Thank you for the response - prior to doing this, I just had another question.
The reason I am doing this is my video card died (675M) and I have a 765M installed. The computer detects it and everything, but for some reason in windows it keeps giving me an error code 43. I believe the 765M is from an alienware. It is my understanding that upgrading the bios to a prema bios may assist in fixing this? Is that true? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No, the prema bios does not generally fix that sort of error, it's generally more vbios related.
-
Can you advise me on what I can do to rectify the situation? I have looked into vbios flashing but don't quite understand it.
Basically I have a 9170 that has constantly had video card issues due to the 675M. I had to send it back into Sager many years ago, and the same issue re-arose. So now I was constantly getting the fan spinning along with the endless beeping and reboots, so I swapped the card out.
Now there are no more reboots or issues like that, but the 765M is constantly having the Code 43 error. Interestingly, when I install the drivers with the customized INF file, the screen does flash indicating that the video card is being recognized/initialized, and the drivers install successfully, but then a code 43 shows up in device manager.Last edited: Oct 22, 2019 -
It does look like your system recognises the card, but it needs a different vBIOS. If you plan on flashing a different vBIOS on getting the card to work, make sure you have some other video card around to replace it. vBIOS flashing may brick the video card and require that you get it to a repair shop for a re-programming with the original vBIOS. Therefore, first and foremost, backup your current vBIOS.
You can use techpowerup vBIOS library: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/146097/clevo-gtx765m-2048-130227 to try an Alineware vBIOS.
This might be helpful: https://forums.tomsguide.com/threads/successful-mxm-gpu-upgraded-laptops.418038/
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/dell-mxm-card-in-clevo-notebook.719299/
My quick reading indicates that you should try to flash a Clevo vBIOS on your video card and if that doesn't make your card work with your Clevo, then you need a different video card.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. -
Thanks for that - my card hardware ID is:
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11E1&SUBSYS_71021558
Any idea what vBIOS I should try to flash with? I had tried before to do this but it kept coming back saying the bios was a miss match with the card, or something along those lines. -
I've attached the backup ROM file I have.
Attached Files:
-
-
So I updated using this bios:
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/195872/195872
And it successful did it, and I overrode the sub sys, but when I rebooted the sub sys has not changed? -
The subsystem never changes. The subsystem is a unique identifier specific to your laptop model. So no matter what video card you put in your laptop, it will always have the same subsystem ID. This is the reason why you need modded drivers, because Nvidia drivers have a list of approved device IDs with subsystem IDs.
-
oh, okay - so now that I've updated it and rebooted, the same old drivers are installed and the code 43 is still there. Should I uninstall, then re-install? Or find new drivers? What is the best approach? Theoretically I now have a Clevo bios on this card?
-
I think you should uninstall and reinstall using DDU.
