@Gophn:
This is an incredible piece of work; I don't think we can thank you enough for it. I particularly like the reformatting of the individual reseller items using the framed table, which gives better ordering to the data and makes it easier to read. One point on that as regards whether the reseller has an identified representative on the forum - if a reseller doesn't have an as-yet identified rep, I would suggest retaining the representative field in the data table, and entering a value such as "n/a" - not so much to punish a reseller who doesn't have a rep, so much as to make it clear that identifying the representatives is a standard part of the displayed data and not just a one-off decision that was made with respect to a particular reseller (which might come off to the uninitiated - those who aren't yet familiar with your reputation for probity- as being a sort of favoritism or an implicit bias in favor of those resellers for whom you've identified a representative on NBR).

I'm hoping Europe can fit in this guide in close pricing ranges sometime soon
-
OK, i forgot how annoying making this guide is... mainly the "cold calling" to vendors.
I have been trying to contact as many vendors as possible for them to fill out my questionnaire for the Clevo Guide.
Like before, most do not reply... I do not know why. But if they want to be listed (which is like free advertising), they need to give me the info that I want.
So if you guys want to help out, I need a couple of things:
1.) need to compile an updated massive list of US & international vendors (I have mine, but can be missing a lot)
2.) need to compile a list of proper emails to send out the questionnaire to
3.) members that can speak/write different languages to help contact international vendors
(since I can mainly speak English, intermediate Spanish, intermediate Vietnamese, basic Japanese)
I will appreciate any help.
This is the main holdup for the new Guide Update.... no responses (either due to language barriers, improper email address that was sent to, not knowing/caring about this guide, my email address does not reflect NotebookReview, etc.)
What a pain in the butt... but I enjoy it (when it turns out right) -
No chinese?
-
I tried learning Chinese... it was too hard with Mandarin and Cantonese.
.... so I learned Japanese to learn up to Kanji (which is still Chinese characters). -
Someday ill learn Japanese, 2
-
Can you post yours, so we know which resellers you are missing?
-
Other than the current/old Clevo Guide list..
.. here is my unorganized list of unlisted vendors:
Just add as many vendors to the list as you want (I do not mind if there are redundancies.. its easy to filter).
Thanks guys. -
if you need to search Chinese vendors, maybe I or kaltmond can do it.
-
Great... I will definitely welcome any multi-national help.
Nirv (any anyone else): Can you search for an current Chinese vendors selling Clevo's?
This new Guide should be a project for this Clevo sub-forum.
When the "Thread Wiki" feature is incorporated to this forum, any member can help update the guide. -
For the moment I am only emailing English speaking vendors.... since they seem to give me the best response... even if its only 50%.
-
In China there´s still no big company sells Clevo NBs, only a few people do that, personaly.
-
I always thought that this:
http://www.buynow.com.cn/
.. was apart of Clevo... maybe only for business relations only. -
A surprise for you guys.
UPDATE
I have given my final revision of the template for the New Guide on the first post.
Tell me what you think.
I got more models (future and current), and A LOT of vendors to sort out. -
Looking very good Gophn. I think the font strikes a not of professionalism and the layout is most enjoyable to read.
-
I debugged HTML for the last 3 days... to make it presentable and compatible to this vBulletin forum.
I am leaving it as simplified as possible (for now)... just in case when the forum is updated to 3.7.0 the HTML might have issues. -
www.AGearNotebooks.com

Thanks Ved.
I will add them.
(AGear was in the original Guide already)

Gophn do you need details of them or just the web site?
-
details would be nice.... but the website would be fine.
if the site is non-English, then any details would be helpful
Babelfish can only go so far -

@Gophn:
With the resellers who've been listed for a long time, e.g., ISTNC, INC., are you recontacting them to verify information?
The reason I ask is that I vaguely recall a thread someone posted a few months ago (I can't find it right now) about problems they were having with ISTNC. At the time I poked around a bit but didn't find anything other than that they had changed the name on the website. I just went and looked again and, even though the url is still www.istnc.com, they're now going by the business name of Carolina Computing & Technology Solutions.
I just did a quick check through the North Carolina Department of Corporations website, and there seems to be a little bit of possible monkey-business going on, because there are now three active legal entities, INTEGRATED SYSTEM TECHNOLOGIES INC., ISTNC, Inc., and Carolina Computing & Technology Solutions LLC that all have names that are connected with the ISTNC website, and that all appear to be related entities given that Richard T. Roberts is listed as the agent for each entity, and both CC&TS and Integrated Systems Technologies, Inc. share the same address on the records of the NC Department of Corporations, but that address is not the same as the corporate headquarters address currently listed on the website, nor is it the same as the address listed in the NC Department of Corporation's records for ISTNC, Inc. The HQ address listed on the website is about 4 miles from the address listed in the Department's records for CC&TS and Integrated Systems, if google maps can be believed.
Furthermore, istnc is no longer a registered member with eBay. That, by itself, doesn't necessarily mean anything, as I believe eBay has been hitting sellers with more fees, so it would be reasonable to cancel an eBay seller's registration to save money; however, in conjunction with the other facts I've found, it suggests that, for whatever reason, the owner of ISTNC, Inc. may be playing a game of hide-the-assets-from-creditors by forming a new legal entity to continue the business while the old legal entity remains a hollow shell company with all of the business' old liabilities, but none of its assets (aka, fraud on creditors, which class would include purchasers with warranties, for example).
All in all, it might be worthwhile verifying that they're still d/b/a ISTNC, Inc., and if not, what happened. Let me know if you think it's a reasonable idea, and if you'd like me to check up on them for you. -

I am probably going to do something that I thought that I would not do with this new Guide.
I have been struggling to get vendors to respond to me, or at least acknowledge that they have received my attempts for communications.
I plan to NOT include any vendors that do not reply to my attempts of communications. If I cannot get any communication to get some basic information for my guide, then they will not be on it.
...if they don't get back to me, how do you think they are with customers?
I want to be thorough, but a number of PMs got me to realize that this Guide should be more of quality than quantity.
If someone asks why a vendor is not on the list, the simple answer would be:
- I did not know they existed, let me contact them
- They did not communicate back with me, which might indicate if they are still in business, as well as if their customer service is up to par with NBR members/visitors. -
Gophn what kind of questions are you asking them? could you pm me the question letter so that I know what to look for?
-
I would worry that such an arrangement might open you up to charges of favoritism that would waste a lot of your time and effort in order to defuse them. I would suggest that the resellers who are smart enough to respond back to you get the full-monty layout that you've currently got for all the resellers, and then every other reseller who's been identified, and who still has an active website, but who has not responded to your communications be listed single space below the detailed listings for the smart resellers, and identified only by their urls (perhaps with the hyperlink removed?) and the list could have an asterisk by it stating that to the best of your knowledge these businesses are also Clevo resellers, but that you were unable to contact the business to confirm this information.
That way, you conserve your efforts by only providing detailed info for resellers who work with you, and yet you also still provide an as-complete-as-possible list of all identified resellers to avoid having to deal with silly accusations later on, and, as well, by putting the asterisked note, the parlous state of these resellers' customer service efforts is conveyed to the reader. -
Good suggestions Shyster.
I will probably still list what we know... but would leave whatever info that I could not confirm with a N/A.
Nirvana, I will PM you the basic questionnaire. -
However, it`s in their best interest, your guide will help a lot of people learn about Clevo.
Make sure you add it to your sig, so that people find out more about places and vendors . -
???? -
You forgt Rambo 29's review of the 9262.
-
There were too many reviews of this notebook, I had to choose.
If you think Rambo's review is better than one of the others, I would not mind replacing one of them with his.
However, I did link the D901C to the owners thread... which I would hope is updated with all D901C reviews. -
Gophn, Calling all those resellers must take one heck of a time.
If you want, you can PM some that I may be able to call up. -
I stopped calling.
now I am just emailing.
If they really want to be on the Clevo Guide with some confirmed info, then they will reply back. -
-
I get no monetary gain... and Clevo still does not directly acknowledge me or this Guide. I have to dig to get info out of sources (that do not want to get in trouble).
Man, Clevo seriously needs to talk to me to confirm stuff so that we would have less headaches when altercations arise. -
Not too mention expanding to Europe more
I hate the pricing Clevo laptops have in Europe, total ripoff
Anyway, this guide should help a lot of people as I said, probably even myself in the future -
I would just like to renew my suggestion that you separate the guide into two parts, one Guide for the Clevo Re-sellers and another Guide for the actual Models (each Guide could have a link to the other).
-
I was thinking that, but making it one guide is easy.... for me.
I am working on new HTML code to jump back and forth through the guide without much scrolling... as well as collapsible tables to save room. -
Ok guys.
Before it goes live.
Here is my:
Sneak Peek of New Guide v2.0 RC2
A few changes and additions:
- made it much easier to navigate such a large thread
- added more Clevo info (what milestones and why buy a Clevo)
- added section for upcoming models (that are confirmed)
- adjusted BBB to include desgination of BBB members, as well as show WHOIS if company is not reported on BBB (due to being new and/or no complaints)
This will probably be the final sneak peek before it goes live.
Tell me whatcha think and any changes that needs to be made or added.
-Gophn -
Looks good. Pull the trigger.
Don't worry, you will get plenty more feedback once it is up! -
Just as an FYI, since I'm not sure whether all identifiable resellers are to be included, or just those that meet your efforts half-way, bwhxeon, in this post, makes mention of a company, Smooth Creations, that appears to be a Clevo OEM/reseller, based on the appearance and specs of their Smoothbook DR, which appears to be based on the Clevo D900/D901C line.
