Well MSI actually has a problem......their warranty sticker has to be broken if you want to remove the back panel......so I'll have to ship it back if I just need to remove the dust on the fan???

That's just to scare off inexperienced people, but it has nothing to do with the warranty (only if something is broken inside when you send it in for repairs and the sticker is damaged too).

Yes, but not if you are careful and dont physically break something. Since clevos all start off barebones they have a bit more freedom.

Well whatever...has anyone tested GT70 and P177SM? Is GT70 really that quiet?

Er... why would you send something in if it weren't broken on the inside?

Physically broken like a cap torn off or bent pins.

It is important how much louder these new laptops. I think as ALWAYS, it is like AIRBUS A320 minimum.

Eh, I wouldn't risk it on such nuanced terms of a warranty.

Is it much louder than the previous generation?

The plainer models should become more readily available as time goes on.

Does anyone think the Super Raid from MSI is worth it, or is 2 SSDs with RAID 0 in the sager would be worth it? I'm in the market for a 15 or 17 inch haswell laptop and I must have a gtx 780... MSIs seem interesting, but my current machine is Sager and it's been pretty good to me..

The SuperRAID and 2 SSD's in RAID 0 are basically the same thing. However MSI's new SuperRAID 2 that uses 3 mSATA drives is going to be faster because of that extra drive.

    Thanks Hutsady!

One follow-up - which models support the SuperRAID 2? -- woo nevermind, I see them. Veeeerry tempting.

While the numbers are great with Super RAID 2 its tough to see a difference in actual use. But no doubt its tough to beat those speeds.

make sure to have a backup of ur data at the ready with that 3 msata raid system! the more drives involved the more redundancy needed to be on the safe side ;)

This is true of any important data anyway.

Also with an unlocked bios you could make it raid5.

Any idea if the P157SM can boot in "Discrete-GPU-only" mode?

I really don't want to bother with Enduro for the time being (problems with DX9, and many of the games I like - flight sims, etc - are DX9).

No, all the display outputs are routed to the intel.
