I hope that the new heat-sinks will fit into the P370EM :)

    ^^^^^^^^^^ Yes how true!

Really we need to wait until the FINAL release of these models are shipped and received by ones right here on NBR for example. A REAL user review is what is needed! :)

Yeah the GPU will actually start lowering it clocks at that point anyway to bring its temperature down.

I certainly hope that's not accurate of final production units considering the MSI was a frigid 61C for both CPU and GPU with 3DMark testing. Based on the first gen Kepler cards that seems an unlikely high temp.

P177SM review at notebookcheck notes the temps were 85C:

Hey, clevo released a p150sm with a 765m and backlit keyboard. I only see the p157sm. Will sager be releasing. a p150sm model? It seems perfect for me.

And thus, I am reminded how there is no such thing as a waiting game for the technology world. I can either buy or wait forever. Discovering that had I waited 9 months, for $75 less than what I paid (NP8250 compared to NP9150), I'd have an i7-4700MQ instead of i7-3610QM, GTX 770M instead of GTX 675M (Kepler instead of Fermi), and instead of only an Intel 520 240GB SSD, I'd have a secondary bay with a 750GB 7200rpm HDD. Slightly better performance, not too much noticeable though (pretty much GPU only), more battery life because of Haswell, and extra onboard storage. I wonder how much I could get for my current laptop with and without the SSD included???

Sadly the 780m is not available on Mythlogic's P150SM. But it seems the prices are near what they were with the EM until today.

Only the P37xSMx has a 120Hz option (at least from the Clevo side the P1xxSM models don't have it).

Just so everyone is up to date. The newest MSI GT70 comes with an improved cooling system which turns out to be a lot more quieter than the new Clevo models. Getting down to Asus G-series quietness now with MSI.

Thanks for the information, Cloudfire. If I go with a 17 inch, I've now started considering the GT70-2OD along with the Clevo 17xSM, unless I go 3xxSM for SLI. I must say that the new quieter cooling system and the Samsung bus on the MSI GT70-2OD is definitely persuasive; however, my biggest concern is still heat, heat and heat... Will shared pipes and a single fan be able to handle the 780m + CPU over longer lengths of time under load. If so, then I am going to have to change three months of planning towards a Clevo purchase. Though still a few more things to consider, this would really be a tough model to pass over.

i would like to add , the thermal bridge they added is utterly brilliant, from thermal standpoint , if the cpu temperature isnt that hot, then the gpu can offload some of its heat in the cpu heatsink which then raises in temperature and starts using that cpu heatsink to increase heat transfer from the gpu to the passing air , however the down side of this is that the cpu will be hotter but it will be in the similar stability temperature as the gpu since equilibrium will be met :D and even if both cpu and gpu are being used this will still increase the heat transfer from the both cpu and gpu to convecting air since the air will never reach 60 C :p if it does then ... well first ur table or whatever u have that laptop on wont be happy neither will the laptop chassis :\

Basically a enormous heatsink shared between GPU and CPU. Brilliant :D

@leitmotif: I haven`t seen any temperature data on the GT70. I know Anandtech is out with their GT70 review tomorrow so you`ll probably find some temperature measurements there :)

If I was in the market for a 15" or 17" machine I'd also strongly consider the MSI this time around. We'll have to see what's offered next year though.

I know, but it's not 13", it also "only" has the 760m, not 765m, i7-4702MQ 37W CPU, and no backlit keyboard. 1080p is a nice addition too with the Clevo 13" although 1600x900 with that form factor would be fine with me too, almost prefer it.

    MSI GT70: 46.8dB / GPU core clock: 588 MHz / 0.862V / temp 91 C
    Clevo P177SM: 53.8dB / GPU core clock: 692 MHz / 0.912V / temp 85 C

Really a lot quieter than the new Clevo models (with old EM GPU heatsink)? Or only a matter of vbios and EC fan table?

You would need to check the new heatsink properly, but the fan tables are likely the primary idle noise generator.

Where did you find the comparison picture? The review makes GT70 really tempting, however I doubt the accuracy, coz if you refer to last year's review on GT60/GT70, you'll see their noise level are quite the same as P157SM/P177SM. I don't quite believe MSI's new heatsink could provide that much improvement. Also, core speed of 780m on GT70 is lower than its clevo counterpart, you can also find the difference if you check the gaming performance in both reviews on P177SM and GT70, as GT70 almost always has a lower fps. Is MSI providing better noise emission by compromising performance?

Also GT70's full load temperature is higher (90 vs 85). Can someone tell me whether clevo is really that noisy and MSI is really that quiet? And which GT70s use the same heat sink as the 'MSI GT70H-80M4811B'?
