I'll try the guide but not OC that high (not 1Ghz core), i need to change the basic Thermal Paste to IC Diamond first.

Yeah, the score is awesome, man! You can try to bumo the clocks to the all beloved 950/1400 and check the temps of the CPU/GPU using HWInfo64 tool. Very interesting how the most powerful 15'' laptop in the Universe handles 100W GPU and 3720QM CPU)

Can anyone with a 7970M take a look and confirm whether it is using Hynix memory or Samsung memory? Thanks.

AFAIK, the CPU score is meaningless. He is lower than the stock score posted by someone before on the previous page. I think that is what he is referring to.

I believe that wasn't a stock score, but an overclocked one on stock voltage. Based on the results I saw he got a great score imo too.

Well, the easiest way is to use GPU-Z, open it and at the right end of the "BIOS Version" line there is a little chip symbol, click on it and it'll let you save the vbios to your disk.
Sometimes it's not the best way since the VBIOS can get corrupted, but I can check this afterwards.

If it doesn't work you'll need to do it per atiflash from DOS.

I have GPU-Z 0.6.2 but it doesn't identify correctly the 7970M and if I try to save the bios it says

Bios reading not supported on this device

here is the link to my gpuz info

    Hmm, alright, thought so.
Well, there's another way, actually the best way to do it, but it takes a bit more time when you haven't done this before.
Just follow step 1 -3 in this neat guide from The Rev.
It explains how to create a DOS bootable USB drive and dump the vbios per atiflash (just use the latest version).

    Would be great!!

I think is an original 3820qm and its on high performance, now i get aroud 5939 on 3dmark on stock values.

For temps check this charts while running 3dmark.
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wpng3p2bbqi8to4/UGdaZrN0Rl/Benchmarks

My ambience temps on this part of the house are a little high than usual, this area of the house is hot in summer, im in loft.

    Hi all,

Anyone that received the laptop already, can you post some pics and give some general impressions of build quality, weight, styling, sound quality. I am also curious about the quality of the different screen types. Looks like most resellers only offer one matte option for the P170EM compared to the standard and 95% one you can get with the P150EM.
Is the $115 glossy upgrade bright enough to overcome reflections?
As you can guess my main question is if it's worth getting over the P150EM?

    cheers,
    Kyle

If you haven't seen Spectroplasm's thread, he posted up some awesome hi-res pictures and video. It's a must see. :)

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/665936-hd-photos-my-nyx1712-p170em.html

As far as the screen types, 90% glossy is the highest gamut you can get in a 17" screen and only 72% in matte. I'm personally getting the 90% glossy.

Maybe Skyrim with graphics mods, Crysis or BF3.
Iam thinking of buying me a gaming laptop in early 2013 maybe with the 3920xm if its worth it

To all (lucky) Clevo 7970m's owners, I know it has been asked quite a lot of times but if one of you could kindly dump his 7970m vbios, that would be super awesome and rewarded by many +reps...

    Here is the procedure:

Sadly it doesn't work. I can't think of a way to get it to run on the dedicated card. It shows unknown device and if you try to pull the bios anyway, it is 0 bytes.

Does any of you Clevo 7970m user have a Linux installation on the system?
Cause if so, I can tell you another way to get the VBIOS.

It's also possible per Linux LiveCD / LiveUSBstick, so no installation required... if anyone is interested and willing to do it, PM me and I let you know what to do.
It's really easy as soon as you booted Linux.

Would be great to get a copy of this VBIOS! :)

Yep indeed - Alienware users have been able to dump their 7970m vbios (though they have the FN+F7 function to switch from iGPU to dGPU and other way around so HD4000 doesn't bother too much) and it seems that Clevo lacks this feature.

Any other ideas of how to save this vbios ? Maybe by desactivating the HD4000 in the Device Manager ?

    Hi to all,

I'm newbie here. I've order a Clevo p170EM with 7970, i'm just in time to cancel it and i want to know if this could be a good idea. I've read many 3d, i know the problem with enduro, but i don't understand if there is a solution or not (my english is not very well). Why someone have good results and others not? Clevo and Ati are working on this problem?

I dont want to overclock system to play full

    What i ve to do??
