That's a matter of personal preference. You can set it to 42 or even 43. Just check the temps and stability to confirm everything works fine. Typically, you want the cache ratio to be equal to or less than the core ratio. If you have all cores set to 42, then setting the cache to 42 (not 43) should be fine. There are no hard and fast rules. It's whatever works best, and it requires trial and error to fine tune the CPU. Unless, of course, you get lucky on the first guess.

I used @Phoenix settings for 4.2 and it works great with fans on auto and Max. Highest is 76 under some stress but generally it is less.

When I overclocked the cache ratio, I experienced some crackling in the speakers when playing some videos, particularly YouTube Videos that contain speech. Please check a few YouTube videos and if you experience such crackling then it's best to leave the cache ratio AKA Ring at the default multiplier but only change its voltage offset.

It's always a good idea to run a full suite of tests to check all aspects of the machine, games, videos, and anything else you do to look for odd behavior if going for a 24/7 setting.

4.2 is stable so far and no issues with league, sc2, d3. temps are nicer with the undervolt. is there any preset gpu oc's though, like the cpu has one in page 1? i remember we had them for the alienware m11x

you can definitely push it higher. i started at 4.2, went to 4.4, then now 4.5 and they all are stable :D

so do i just adjust the clock values or do i need to adjust the voltages too as i'm not sure how much to increase for each time i increase speed?

Most of those settings are meant for Prema BIOS users.

Check the out the FP on the Clevo Overclockers Lounge thread, that might have some XTU settings.

yea no idea why they dont give it a proper adapter. if i have to mail it to msi every 1-2 years to have it replaced, i might as well pay 200 more for a sager and not have to deal with that. i dont mind replacing the battery but shipping back and forth and the time itll take isnt fun.

Hey @Phoenix , to properly use an NVMe SSD do you need a special set of drivers or something like that?

I want to get a 960 Pro 512 GB for P775 and I'm not absolutely sure if it'll work properly and without much hassle

I've been having problems with my P870DM-G lately, mostly during games, but occasionally while just web browsing. The Screen goes black, the hdd starts accessing, the fans kick on high and sometimes it beeps repeatedly. Is this maybe a heat related issue? temps for cpu and gpu never really go over 75 or so

also, my laptop has both the Prema Bios and Vbios, and was bought from HIDevolution.
I was wondering what are the differences in the Prema and stock Vbios?

Beeping repeatedly is an EC panic. One of the variables it reads (fan speeds, temperatures etc) is critically out of expected range so it maxes the fans and shuts the machine down to prevent damage. Check all the fans are spinning normally and re-seat the fan cables.

I would talk to your reseller if this does not help.

fans are good, and spinning normally, no dust at all inside my laptop.
sadly I'm not the original owner so I'm not sure if they'd help me much.
just did a stress test on processor and ram, no shutdown or even full fans, cpu topped out at about 78 with all the bios settings set as they are in the tutorial here.
I'm about to run a test on the gtx 980 now

My labtop originally was overclocked to 4.5ghz all cores by the manufacturer was very Stable but I made new window lost the overclock long ago I guess I will play it safe use 42,41,41,41 stock clocks since voltage is high by default what do guys recommend? just use phoenix video use -150mv since is stock clocks I don't need change the numbers in prema bios? or use same settings on XTU settings screen to prema?

If it is gone, it most probably means that you were using TSstop or something like that instead of XTU

-150mV is fairly aggressive, I'd do some testing and see if it is stable

If it is stable then that's a very good undervolt, jump up by the smallest step each time and test the same thing that was causing the crashing.

Nevermind shutdown computer than power back on not getting good temps with unvolt tho I guess going need some help with this using stock clocks.

push it towards you (in that picture) so the lip of the battery is past the plastic holder at the top and lift it up.

Any decently sized Phillips will do, the holes are quite deep in some places so just make sure you have one with a long enough tip to reach down into it.
