Just to clarify, we will be able to actually order all of the new laptops except the NP8660 (which is up for pre-preorder) on July 15th? Or are they all gonna be pre-orders?

    Thanks,

    Cannot really say.

Clevo's are innovative, Compal has been making notebooks for the major OEMs for a long while.

    Update:

The M860TU has been taken down from the Clevo page. I suppose some local tattle tell, probably the same one that has been telling on everyone else that has posted any information before it was due, ran to mommy Sager to be sure that nothing is released ahead of time.

Why, pray tell, would Sager have authority to cause Clevo to take down something Clevo wanted to post about its own systems?

    From another thread:

You ran to mommy Visa just a few days ago with the erroneous idea that PNB was in violation of their merchant's agreement.

    Need I say more?

That's a good question. But one thing that always confused me about the Clevo website is that under the news section for Clevo releasing their new laptops the source is notebookreview.com. Wouldn't the source be, I dunno, themselves?

    Hi Paladin,

But their "Cooling" system and internal Fan(s) ... something must be differnt about 2 diff manufacturers?

BTW, the NP7680 White Keyboard surface does it get dirty fast? Or is not prone to getting dirty that easily?

    Thanks,
    G! :)

The keyboard surface and palm rest will get just as dirty regardless of its color...it depends on how clean you keep your hands.

That is why I change my socks daily.

Like I said in a recent thread:

    1) If you type correctly, your palms should not even touch or wear out that area. I play games and my palm never touches the casing. So my notebook's palm rest areas are still mint. (and I have had it for about 2.5 years now)

    2) you can get a palm gel pad (if you know you are going to rest your palm) if you want to make sure to not wear out your casing.

    Hi folks,

@ Paladin, I'll try changing my socks ... good tip. :D

@ Shyster1 ... what happened to your Avatar ... Nice Old Italian Guy from Brooklyn!?!

@ Gophn ... actually I did read your other post and I was trying figure out how do you do ergonomic typing?

BTW, I just looked at NP7680 and I think I changed my mind about it ... since I noticed all USB and other connections are right over the Vent Pipe  and the other USB is toward the front of laptop, so if you want to load the DVD player you will keep bumping into the USB cable ... so

The reason I was looking at the Clevo was I assumed may be this laptop would run it's GPU Cooler ...diff manufacturer and it was in my price range.

    Thanks,
    G! :) :notworthy:

    From: Ergonomics: Cumulative Trauma Disorders

While typing, it is best not to rest your wrists, and they should not be bent up, down, or to the side. This may be easier if the back edge of the keyboard is tilted down slightly, away from you. The knuckle, wrist, and top of forearm should form a straight line. Wrist supports or rests give you a place to rest your hands only when pausing from typing, not while you are typing (or gaming).

(forearm as wrists should be aligned... meaning your palms should NOT be bent downward to rest anywhere)

Placing your keyboard at an angle to the edge of the desk encourages a bad posture. Either the wrists are bent sideways (ulnar deviation) or the spine is twisted. Rearrange your equipment so you can sit head-on to your keyboard and monitor.

When I was configuring the NP2096, it has the new processors, but only had options for DDR2 ram, will this model support and fully utilize DDR3 ram if one were to replace the DDR2 ram with DDR3?

Edited, sorry, typed the wrong model number in earlier.

Not yet... since the mobile quad does not have a firm ETA.

And... I hope you realize that the first mobile quad-core CPUs are about $1000 each.

So if you can afford that, more power to you, but I definitely do not think its worth it at that price. (might as well go for the D901C that already has quad-cores, but much cheaper since they are desktop quads)

Thanks man, no offense but a d901c is for those who want the multifaceted solution to play on the go but don't have an adequate desktop.
I'm however looking for something thats a little smaller weight-wise so I can atleast haul it's bum to school and game there, then I game at home when I get home. God I love university :)

Dude, you`ll never be happy like that. You have more than enough power now, why ask for more? Plus , remember the warranty you have, in 3 years...new system, equally powered but to actual times :)

Link747, I am not sure where I read it but if your laptop comes configured with DDR2 RAM ... you are stuck with that ... something about DDR3 RAM not fitting into DDR2 RAM slot and vice versa.
