Yes it seems that Clevo is sticking with nVIDIA, posting the upcoming nIDIA GeForce GTS 360M 1GB GDDR5 Video RAM MXM 3.0, Type B for at least one model!

I wonder how that'll compare to the 285M they're showing.
-
IS there hope that they will come up with a 2.1 mxm card for the NP8662?

GTX380m With MXM3.0 B... then ill be interested
Although.. when i hear tell of a Dual SLI GTX380m W/ i7 980X i think it'll be time for an upgrade that'll last 2 years
-
GTS360 not so exciting, its ANOTHER frigging rebadge
http://semiaccurate.com/2009/12/29/nvidia-gts360m-renamed-gt240/ -
yes, but the G215 is a step up from the G92 core that's been running for the last 3 generations...
-
Don't rule out more G92 rebadges as well. Nvidia doesn't have anything else available with more than 96 cores that will fit in a notebook.
-
240GT desktop would make it a re-badged GTS260m which I don't believe ever appeared in any actual laptops, so it's kind of a new chip
. Anyone expecting the mobile 300 series to have anything to do with Fermi though clearly hasn't been paying attention to Nvidia's chip woes.
In terms of efficiency, yes. In terms of raw performance, the g92 is still best Nvidia can do unless they can get a 448-bit GT200 based mobile chip out(highly implausible with it's 1.4b transistors). As Phinagle implied, there aren't any 256-bit chips in the 200 series(other than the re-badged G92). ATI will likely own the higher end mobile market for at least the next 6 months. -
Does this rule out BIOS support for ATI 5xxx cards?

Cant find any specs of the GTX 285. -

Yeah it's really good to know that these nex gen cards will be MXM 3.0 Type-B as expected. Also Asus is using them too.

Asus has the G73 with the ATi 5870 GDDR5: http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g73jha1-p-2731.html

Wow that asus has killzone as a background...does this mean kilzone is comming to pc?
Btw, why do they still use that old ugly backside on tge g70 series...
About the clevo, why don't they use ati that will support direct x 11? Seems kinda useless to me to buy those direct x10 nvidia's. -
I'm sure there coming soon.
Wish they come in 15"/16" laptops, now that would be sweet.
The Asus looks great though. -
if GTS360M (a rebadged version of GTS260M) is the best nvidia can offer in 2010, then the high end market is clearly in ati's grip.
-
Actually, it's a rebadged GT240
according to the article provided by JoeBradley.
-
Yeah, it is a huge disappointment for me. Hopefully clevo will start supporting the new 5000's Ati cards that are coming out! -
Very interesting indeed!
If ASUS managed to put an i7+5870 (GDDR5) in a 17", than Clevo will most likely squeeze a CF option in its 18" beast due to a bigger thermal budget and superior cooling.
However, the lack of 280/4870/3xx options for ASUS might be a hint of a different MXM type... -

There will be more new cards released from nVIDIA but the details will not be released until CES.

I will be there in person with notes and pics too!Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
Will you posting any pics on NBR??

I wonder if las vegas is the same as in that tv series ;P I'd probably lose myself at the gamble tables and forget al about CES.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
Damn that Asus looks sweet!
-
Please do.
Man do I wish I could go.
Keep us posted on anything Clevo.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -

Actually Clevo does not have a booth at CES, they are at CEBIT in March over in Germany. However AMD(ATI), ASUS, Intel and some nVidia stuff will be there. The new mobile GPU's are supposed to be there and I will hunt them down the 7th of this month.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
Hey, could this be the reason why my 8760 order was delayed until the 7th
j/k but one can hope. -
I was thinking the same thing
-
The xoticpc website shows the g51jx-a1 with the 360... gddr5?
Also, saw this handy guide on Guru3d:
http://www.guru3d.com/news.html#10581
So it still looks as if for Nvidia that the 280 is still tops. -
Good enough for me.
You are doing a great service to us all

Just wondering, how would the 5870 perform compared to 2 GTX 280M's in SLI?
-
Anyone that has an answer for that is either under an NDA or just guessing.
-
The article was provided by crazycanuk, I only commented on it but alexnvidia isn't wrong and neither are you since the GT240 and the GTS260m are really the same thing(which is what I was trying to get at).
Ergo:
GTS360m = GTS260m = GT240(desktop). (GT215 core)
GT240m = dc'd GT220(desktop). (GT216 core)
GT220m = 9600m GT = dc'd 9500 GS(desktop). (G96 core)
Consumers =
. Which I guess is the point.
-
I want to know this too =) what is the best card available to us?
-
Is there a good website that compares all graphic cards? laptop/desktop graphic cards.
I am thinking about getting a laptop with atleast a 280m gtx in it (hopeing better, depending on what CES brings us). Anyways, I want to know what my desktop, single 9800 gtx compares to on the laptop side, I am hoping to get a good improvment when i buy a laptop -
There is this one: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
Take it with a grain of salt, of course. Since these are laptop GPUs, there is no such thing as a controlled study. Rather, the data is generated from user-submitted benchmarks, which gives each data set more data (thus making it more representative) but very susceptible to bias from different CPUs, different conditions of tests, etc. (thus making it less representative for certain less-common GPUs). -

Has anyone seen any guerilla style specs of the 380m?
Thers usually some flying about on a site i used to visit, cant remember the name for the life of me, for desktops they were pretty accurate anyway (Except GDDR5 back in the GT200 DT Chips) -
If it is the same as GTS 260M, it will (unless they've changed it) look like this:
-
I'd guess it will be somewhere in between 9800GTX SLI and 280M SLI but closer to 260M SLI, so IMHO it won't reach them even with all the AA bonuses at high rez. But I'm guessing and am under NDA
-
Mutant_Tractor Notebook Evangelist
Sounds about right, the Fermi architechure looks promising and with a lower TDP, i think its 40nm process, battery life of over 30mins!
-
Thank you, but i wanted to see how my desktop graphics card compares to the laptop graphics cards, from what i understand the mobile version of graphic cards are less powerfull then its desktop counterpart
-
Mutant_Tractor Notebook Evangelist
Well it would have to be, if it wasnt your laptop would quite literally catch fire,
As is stated above a "new" 360m ~ GT240 Desktop, a GTX280m is not a desktop GTX280 in a smaller casing
-
Sorry I should have mentioned - if you click on any of the graphics cards, they have written articles about the architecture, etc., and they usually say how a GPU will perform compared to certain desktop versions.
For instance, for the GTX280m, they claim that it performs between the desktop 9800GT and 9800GTX, which is pretty accurate. -
Desktop 5870? That would absolutely slaughter dual 280Ms, seeing as how it can beat a GTX 295.
The mobile one won't beat two G92s though, not if it's around the desktop 5750. -
o ok, thank you very much
-
Wow, GDDR5, in a notebook?! This is going to smash all the other GDDR3 GPUs for sure. With i7 also on board, that laptop is going to rock Crysis like nothing, lol.
-
GDDR5 won't necessarily smash all of the other GDDR3's if the bandwidth isn't any bigger.
-
128-bit with 96 shaders. Not even on the 260M's level.
-
Does anybody have information about the future clevo/kobalt/sager looks? I wanted to go for a clevo but i just saw the new awesome restyle the asus g7* series will get.
I know I should be rational and prefer power and cheapness over looks but I really can't. -
Santech offers 360m or 5870 with availibility from 28.Jan.

Clevo is showing the GeForce GTS 360M 1GB GDDR5 as an upcoming option!!
