Because I play it a lot... I also play Crysis Wars... And many others... I just want to know the All-in-one notebook solution for all of that...

What is the desktop equivalent to QX9300?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
q6600 stocked. and overclocked to 3.06 it's almost equal to the q9650.
-
So in a year when GTA 187235687356 comes out its still gonna be all about GTA 4?
NO
we have told you if your a gamer get the GAMING machine ...
/thread -
OK.
Not sure if you have seen the review but see for yourself

A single 280 GTXM paired with a i7 core CPU is pretty darned good. It almost matches my score in 3DMARO6( see sig for numbers) and yes it might not be the best benchmark tool but still you have to be impressed with the numbers.
Yes the QX9300 is the best mobile chip available and can crush every game out there but still the i7 core is better.
I know ones a desktop CPU and the other a mobile but I think it would be cheaper in the future to upgrade to a better GFX card then a CPU.
Just my own humble opinion

dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
the moo has a point. if you are worried about gaming more get a machine with sli/crossfire. (w90, m17x, np9850) don't get a single gpu solution you will be mad in the long run.
-
Coming from a Man with 1 GPU?
-
might get angelicvoice's NP9262... i gave him a deal for $1900...
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
For now
i think it's a her

specs? 10 char.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
e8600
9800m gtx sli
4gb of ram
2 320gb hdd @7200rpm raid 0 -
basically a steal
ii would even buy it -
Ok,
Just get the NP9850.
You still get an awesome processor with SLI.
You wont see THAT much of a difference between the QX9300 and the i7.The QX9300 is more than enough plus you can OC it to 3 Ghz anyway. -
Amazing deal, but I'd definitely upgrade that CPU. c2q prices have dropped a bit now that i7's released.
-
why not jsut get the 5797? if you only want one 280, and if you dont want an i7 thats another reason.
-
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Just remember, each user has their own set of criteria and what is important to them gaming and application wise. If someone likes GTA 4 *THAT* much, well, that's their choice.
I have and will do again base purchases around particular games and applications. -
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Yeah, the 5797 is a good sweet spot for the most powerful single card solution w/ Quad Core support that has a decent weight for a 17" model. Then again, the MSI GT725, to me, is the ultimate sweet spot for Quad Core support, a great GPU (4850) and a very lightweight chassis to pack all that firepower (~7.3lbs).
Weight wise, the APM17X is definitely in the same league as the 9280, W90VP and 9850. -
yeah or get the MSI GT725. Dont think that they two laptops in the OP are your only options.
-
the reason why gta 4 is important is i set it as a goal.... my goal is to run it the best because if i can do gta 4 maxed out (not saying i can) then i should be able to max every other game (arma 2 exception... well i should set that as a goal XD...
-
ok you can max out GTA 4with a i7 and single 280 but that i7 and 280 can't max out other games ??????????? Do you have any idea how you sound ?
Get the SLI laptop because it will stull max out games!!!! jesus ....
Your baseing your choice of a laptop off a poorly coded game thinking because it runs it best that its the most powerful?
You are either a very young confused boy or ...i unno
... if you would look for ONCE @ the link i sent the M98nu beats the i7 in every game but GTA and even then its 10 FPS behind with a t9900 vs a i7
So for God's sake /thread -
MOO calm down buddy!
Your gonna blow a udder! -
sorry <strike> underage little boys</strike>
people blow my mind
like buying a laptop based on 3dmark 06.....
he posted 5 threads in AW section imma get the M17x then 10 here....... when we told him 100 times SLI for gaming -
Hey some people don't get it.
SLI or Crossfire is great if you really wan't a gaming rig.
But a single card solution is not too bad either if your on a budget -
The i7 + a GTX280M will play most games superb, and a few games only so-so.
But you get superb number crunching as well.
The GTX280M in SLI is for people that put gaming performance first, everything else second. Am I right?
My dilemma is that I would be happy without SLI, but I much prefer the looks of the M980 to the D900F. -
Depends, looks are like a novelty, after a few months, the difference between the M98 and the D900F would not matter to me.
Then you have to ask yourself, are you just gaming, or are you doing content creation as well? If content creation, go for the i7, if just gaming, SLI setup. -
But what about next year? I'm thinking the M980 will age worse than the D900F - if it can't be made to fit i7's or i5's in the future. Or their mobile versions.
-
JEEZ MOO....
I wasnt arguing with you.... chill out... I can't even edit the poll so whatever... I'm looking at the NP9262 since i can get one for a nice price... All I am saying is if I'm going to buy a laptop its going to run the that i want it to and do it well...
-
quit calling me an underage little boy grumpy utters... yea moo i posted 1 thread on m17x and one on qx9300.... sure 5 threads.... i got your opinion you think i want to hear more of the same sh** from you???
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
calm down.
-
ok... that means you too moo....
now i think im going to go with the NP9262...
its got a desktop processor and SLi... great machine all around...
gonna upgrade it from E8600 to Q9650 then im set...
Q9650
4GB 800Mhz DDR2
9800M GTX 1GB SLI
250GB 7200RPM (upgrading this to 1x128GB OCZ Vertex and 2x500GB 7200RPM RAID0) -
seriously... take a step back from the computer, go outside, and chillax.
GTA4 is all I play
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
it was to both, but nice. i'm doing the same with mine. -
The 5797's cooling and build quality makes up for the additional weight on the GT725.
-
Look at who I quoted lol
-
lol im sorry ill delete my post... flaming getting to my head
-
If size and weight were no concern, I would get the NP9850. If I could tell the future and knew for sure that sli GTX 380M would never happen in the NP9850 because of heat/power, I would get the NP9280. The current desktop i7 will remain more powerful than mobile i7's for at least a year into production, and a single GTX 380M would very likely best sli 280M, without the concern of driver issues.
NP9280 will be the first machine to have the best next gen video cards. Quote me on that one. -
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
If I was going to go for a single GPU solution and didn't want an i7, it really does come down to the 5797 and the GT725. The 1722 has excellent cooling, btw and I like the build quality and the noise level while gaming is great. My daughter has beat the snot out of her 1722 (she's even fell asleep on it, dropped it 3x, and tosses it around like it is made of titanium) and it is rock solid and handles gaming (Sims3) even with it sitting on a pillow, bottom vents closed off with decent temps.
There is definitely a difference between ~7.3lbs and 8.7lbs in the realm of laptops, though, and both sport WUXGA+ and WSXGA+ screens. The GT725 chassis is skirting near Macbook Pro type weight with much more firepower.
But I do love Nvidia cards.....
-
Dedicated CPU and GPU fans, inside is like a copper mine, and a sexy orange racing stripe
I really couldn't be happier with the machine. I'd love it even more if I knew there'd be a next gen MXM 2.1 card in the future, but it looks like I'll be selling it come next summer. Probably for the next version, the M870CU or whatever. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I think you mean classy sterling silver stripe.

if only the keyboard didn't ahve the ctrl key in the wrong spot. lol
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i like the msi gt725 becuase of the overclocking. with a t9800 it hit 3.51ghz. that's high in my book. also i have seen people hit 1100 on memory on it also.(4850)

in notebook journal's review the temps of gpu idle in the 30's
-
thats way too low?
-
people have been telling me that NP9262 is a steal... but also telling me the NP9850 is gonna be great. what should i go with? im probably gonna do 9262 cuz of screen size, and price/power ratio...
-
ok then... i believe thats what it said though...
-
I idle in the high 30's with the Zalman cooler, it's feasible. When I had my P9600, that little thing got to 22C at some point.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Lol. i idle at 47 on a hot day and 32 on a cold day. so it depends on the room temps. (this is with fan always on) no cooler. i'm going to buy one soon just not sure which one.
-
Maxing out the fans is cheating >.>
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Lol. ok i'll turn it off and see what i get. i'm pretty sure they did the same to get 30c. right now i'm at 44c. i'll turn it off and see what i get in 10mins.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
with the fans off. i am at 52 then the fans kick in and i'm back to 50. but again it's alittle hot but i don't know my room temp.
Core i7 and GTX 280M or QX9300 and GTX 280M?
