I got 20% off at the GFX crads (643 USD), and they threw in the T9300 for free, just to make me a happy camper! :D Well, they didnt throw this at me, it took a serious amount of naging and whining, but in the end it payed of!

    But:
1, how is the 9800m gt's overclocking capabileties compared to the 8800?
2, Will it be a compact card (like a 2 in 1 solution) like the 8800sli, or will it be two seperate cards? If yes, how will this affect heat generation? im kinda confused cause when i sendt the guy at dell an e-mail asking for what he recomends i got this reply:

    " Hej igen Anders!

In short he says i should pick the 9800sli card as it, with its 1gb of vram :)confused: ), only takes up one slot space in the computer, opposed to the 512mb 8800sli card witch takes up two. This way i would be able to install another card in the future...

He doesnt say anything about giving you 2 cards for SLI. He says that one 8800M GTX uses two slots because of its size, but 1GB 9800 GT (what the hell? Does he mean the GTS, because the GT doesnt have 1GB) uses 1 slot so you can upgrade in the future. But if he means the 9800M GT, that one isnt produced anymore so that will be hard to get.

As this is a dell xps m1730, he is refering to SLI , because thats the only option dell gives you ( iow, 8800m gtx sli, or 9800m gt sli)

I called dell and asked them why the 9800m GT sli is listed with 1GB Vram. At first he explained it with: 512 x 2 = 1gb , but after i explained to him the principels of SLI he concluded that this was an typo. (lal :p )

So they are both 512mb, and both in SLI

What do you mean not in production? They were just made aviable to m1730 xps systems. I think dell would check that the card they were to release in their notebook flagship, was still beeing produced :( atleast i hope so!..

Ok. They stopped producing the cards a while back. Maybe Nvidia exclusively produce them to Dell, but I dont think so. Maybe Dell have some of them still on stock.

Are you sure he doesnt mean the 9800M GTS? Those are 1GB each.

If it says 9800GT (should say 9800M GT) they probalby have them :D

The difference between 9800M GT and 9800M GTS isnt that big, its only a few FPS.

So does anyone know the differences between these 2 cards as far as running CUDA applications? I know they both say 96 CUDA cores.
