    Any idea how much slower?
I will say I have seev vids of AvP with DX11 and it looks sick!
I'm guessing it don't look as good with it disabled, but still pretty enough :)

I have a w860cu preordered with a 5870, only going to have a i5 520m at first though. Hope I get it in 2 weeks or less.
Anybody have any idea how well the 5870 overclocks? I'm thinking that heat shouldn't be much of a problem at 50w stock as the w860cu can handle the 100w fx 3800m.

clocking it to 800/1100 should be okay, I think. Not sure how the 860 is when it comes to heatmanaging though

From what I saw a while back, it looks like tessellation will halve frame rates.

Hence why the purchase of DX11 cards should be held off until notebook GPU performance improves beyond MR 5870 levels, unless the user enjoys low FPS or reduced settings.

So would you guys rather have tesselation or PhysX?
If it cuts frame rates in half then DX11 is only good for desktops that have the power to use it.

For a single card, DX11 isn't that useful. In Crossfire it should be fine since x-fired 5870s with a mild OC should be as fast as a desktop 5870.

That's what I came to a conclusion to.
The 5870 is amazing but only if your laptop has the horsepower to use it.
Now at least we have a choice :)

Does the current R2 BIOS have the microcode for the 5870's?

Might not work until Dell releases an official R2 with 5870's.

$5 says that users are going to ditch the MR 5870 once the GTX 380M comes out.

I dunno, I have a new bios so it might already have it. Or the R2 may not even need a bios update.

If it works I'll just ebay my 4870s. I think it will work though. If not, well then RJTech has a decent return policy albeit a restocking fee.

Do all of the 5870's have the CF connector on the PCB?

We will find out this week. If they do, then it's a surefire sign that the X8100 will get CrossFire MR 5870's.

I totally agree Soviet I seriously think that unless you are in desperate need of a GPU upgrade then wait for the new Nvidia (Arrive in Q3 of this year ?), the new release will most likely be faster even if it doesnt support DX 11 I will still be getting one of those over the MR 5870.

I'm 99% sure the 5870s will have a crossfire connector. These are likely being released specifically for the X8100 with the other Clevos as an after thought.

    X8100 hasn't been confirmed. lol

I can agree and say that I think they will be released for it, but the only official word from Clevo has been for the W860/870.

I'm surprised it hasn't since it wouldn't make sense for Clevo to create a new dual card machine and not support crossfire. So assuming they did, then these new 5870s probably all have crossfire connectors because of the x8100--that's what I meant.

    Yeah, I got ya.

I just found it odd that the X8100 can't be pre-ordered with the 5870's like the W8x0 series. They just released it too. You would think that they could have held off a few more weeks and just brought it out with the newer GPU's.

Can't wait to see some benches of the CF 5870's :D

I can't say it any better myself!
Had do many bad dealings with ATI in the past and it left a sour taste in my mouth even if the 5870 is a great GPU.

I don't care what the GTX 380M is based from; if it's faster than the Mobility 5870 (which is a rebadged card in it's own right), I want in on it.

Physx in Batman AA also cuts frame rates in half unless you use its normal mode setting. Mobile GPU's aren't powerful or optimised enough for either technology as far as I can see. Unless I am missing other titles where Physx doesn't drop the frames so much, if that's the case then maybe it is more down to its implementation.

After Cebit could mean anywhere from a week after Cebit to 10 years time. It will really dependant on stock, shipping/transport movement and considerations and the levels ordered by Clevo, as well as other deals and contracts in place.

lol gets battered all over the place by the 5870. Havent been able to test Crysis yet which is heavily Nvidia so that should be one to look forward to, however Batman AA and synthetics clearly show 5870 is better, I will have propper results up tonight. after I get working driver.s

With the 920 CPU sitting here and 2x500gigs i need a computer to put them in and this price is pretty much a no brainer... Crossing my fingers it does not sound like a leaf blower under load :D...
