Trust me, they won't leak any info before the preorder is up on the XoticPC website.
-
in fact, for me personally - i don't really care, coz i'm gonna get 8662. but i'm curious, that's true
-
I know what you mean, because while I'm interested, what I really care about is how much the GTX 260M is going to cost me.
-
also i'm curious, if i can get 280 instead of 260 for 8662. this i think it should not cost a lot and gonna be good investment and help my future laptop be up-to-date longer -
That's definitely an interesting question about whether the 280M will boot in this notebook. I'd much prefer a huge upgrade like that, but I have my doubts as to whether this M86 could keep it from overheating.
Feel free to be the first guinea pig. -
theoretically speaking MXM is the same, 128/112 gives 14% more heat or (if assume 260's TDP is 75W) 85W. not too much, just 10W only. like if i'm taking T9550 (35W) or P9600 (25W) - same 10W difference, so looks 8662 can accommodate this.
The only problem i foresee - marketing. -
Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
Yeah their pricing is ludicrous...but the fact that it is on any site at all for purchase means that it is this much closer to being released for mass consumption. Obviously I can't wait. This is going to come out at the same time the Asus W90-Vn comes out...YAY!
-
talked to one of my fav dealers here in germany: they will have it listed -they promised
- but not before end may/beginn june
no valid infos on the pricing, as till end of may so many things can change an the no1 can predict the dollar/euro currency rate then, and they dont wanna speculate.
by then the next technological step with dx11 and others is just around the corner :S
maybe i sold my m17 to early... -
Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
I mean for all the money you would spend on Eurocom's site, you think they would've opted for a Blu-Ray writer and not just a reader.
-
TDP of the 280M is 75W.
-
so, 8662 will definetely accommodate 280. i'll write an email to Xotic to find out the story
-
Well, they uses ATI HD 4870 CFX instead of Nvidia 9800M GTX SLI.
Let's use retail price to try to investigate the low price of W90.
ATI HD 3870 single card is about $300, let's assume that 4870 is about $400, the cost for CrossFireX is $800.
Nvidia 9800M GTX single card is about $700, the cost for SLI is $1400.
$600 difference...
You bought your Alienware M17 in 2008 and sold it in 2009??

E-mail from RJ Tech:
1. Yes, we will offer D900F and M980NU when they are available in US market. The ETA of D900F is in May, and M980NU should be in Jun.
2. We don’t have the price for the new 2xx video card yet. The 9800GTX for D901C is $750, heatsink included.
3. To my understanding, Flextronics is trying to find someone to carry their products in US, but it is not too successful so far. We still can get one for you if you want to order it. It is WUXGA single ATI 3870 w/Blu-Ray. Just let me know if you are interested. -
they say about 430 for the gtx280m
and about 360 for the gtx260m
we shall see though. -
then i really hope GTX 280M will be out for Clevo D901C.
it will make the base price of the barebone cheaper... -
so the difference is $70 only? i'm really thinking about upgrade from 260 to 280 when i'll order 8662
-
Those are beautiful prices... don't play with my emotions man.
starche, if we don't have BIOS support, the 280M is a no-go. -
you can always hope for a cooked BIOS ROM...
CMIIW.. -
not playing, just hoping these are the facts..
-
[bad word], i forgot about this
but... if this is a case who stops me from searching the internet and finding forums in order to to be a chief
-
Go to XDA Devs forum bro, you might find one cooked ROM for your Clevo
-
Or find a cooked Clevo.
-
i'm there since i've got my Dopod 900, i.e. Dec '05 or Jan '06 (i do not remember exactly)
i did couple of ROMs but "for personal use only" in order not to brick some1 else gadget.
the only think that i do not remember if any laptop's BIOS chiefs are there. from other hand i never was looking for them. hmmmm...... -
yes, it was nice overclocked and i had a very good offer from a former clanmate - so we part
but tbh, i was expecting the ati hd4870 listed end feb to mid-march and was up for an new m17 with them. so im without notebook atm and on the market for the next beast. -
I got mine 2nd hand, january 2008 and still going strong
anyway, hope you can cook some Clevo BIOS for us mate
-
Hmm, M17 also use MXM card right? so you can upgrade it to 4870 once the card is out for sale. -
MXM 3.0 slots, the aw sales-rep confirmed that its possible to upgrade, they send you the cards and give telephone-support for the installation when needed.
-
So if the 4870 released, you will buy another M17?
-
it depends
on the price they put on this thing, and if i can wait for the m98 to be released.
id like the m98 with the matte surface of the m17 for the price of a asus w90 and that available 2morrow
-
very unlikely that you will be able to tamper with the clevo bios. they use phoenix trusted core. not your run of the mill go in and started editing it up. we been trying this for the last year. got into the bios on a few, but you can't change the menus to add the items that need to be in it. for example.. the multiplier is in the code, but can't be seen without a menu editor to add it. same with fsb/voltage/and a few other things i saw in there.

xor01
let me 1st get the laptop and then manage to get 280 on board
hmmmmm.... sound it's not so easy? well-well-well...
from my previous experience with HTC ROM kitchen - the very 1st thing it's necessary to unpack ROM (in our case BIOS, what pretty much the same). for this i need a tool, which, I believe, exists. secondly, it's necessary to unlock BIOS from 5797, where there is support for 280M. Like ROM for HTC, BIOS consists from files, so it will be necessary to understand which goes where... may be to read forums for this... it looks like a challenge and my problem is, that i like challenges
using what you got in the BIOS? what software u used for cooking? -
so we need an insider...
Just like the chefs at Xda Devs forum have insider in HTC so they can get classified matters...
-
been waiting on an insider for about 6 months now. phoenix trusted core ain't a easy one to crack.
-
OK, let's see
-
you mean you already have an insider?
hoho, this is getting more and more interesting
Anyway, may i know what are you waiting for from him?
Menu editor? Classified spec? -
5949 € + taxes XD
-
nah, that's just it. 'wait on an insider' means just that..waiting for some on to come forward from within the company. as of right now...no...we do not have one and are still waiting...
if i had the menu editor i would have already done the bios and been a happy camper already. -
I just paid more than $5K for the Clevo M98 from EC. I feel I got stiffed.
I think the price should be closer to $3.5K -
Decked out this thing would cost almost 10 grand...dammmmm..lol
-
So are you thinking that maybe someday the np9262's will be overclockable?
-
Megacharge Custom User Title
Just cancel the order like me and a few others have already said in the other thread. Wait for official pricing, find the cheapest price (probably XoticPC and Power notebooks like usual) then get Eurocom to price match them. oh and it should be a lot less than even 3.5K for this thing. -
280M is $200 cheaper than 9800M.
So, SLI will cost $400 cheaper on M980NU. and the final price probably will be the same as D901C.
EUROCOM M980NU Preorder!!!
