That might take a while though. Has there been any word yet on the 500 series at all?

I'm curious as to how this SB recall will affect the upcoming G53SW, though I suppose you will only be able to configure it with the GTX 460M--perhaps a minor price-drop?

Didn't Nvidia say they wouldn't release anything faster than the 485m this year?

560/570/580 In fact, there are not many performance improvements
mainly for reasonable power and heat on the laptop
the cost can be reduced while reducing the die size
    "i guess"..........maybe like 280m to 285m

I see a lot of benchmarks that talk about frame rates and such... what about heat and power usage? Does the 6970m run cooler or with less power drain than a 485m?

560M will have 30% better performance than 460M and around the same wattage

This is yet to be determined. The test units had trouble with PowerPlay which should be fixed with proper drivers. Max wattage should be similar to 470M.

So, can we get some proof of these 'component level changes' that eurocom makes?

I understand that they had a chance to pit two of similar configs against each other, but the 470m isn't the 6970m competitor. The 485m is the direct competitor and would give a better frame of reference IMHO. Anyone who knows anything about notebook GPU's knows that the 6970m would easily outperform the 470m.

    Pretty much in the 470m < 6970m < 485m league..

    Oh boy...
What the hell are they talking about? It also discredits hothardware.com, most sites seem to have no idea about mobile hardware...

But actually I have no idea why Nvidia complained to them. The article gives the impression that the HD 6970M is meant to compete with the GTX 470M and both GTX 480M and GTX 485M are better cards. It's also quite funny that Nvidia complains about ridicilous pricing and that we now got an official article stating that Eurocom is overpriced.
The GTX 470M is faster than the GTX 480M... Seriously, if people know little or nothing about the mobile market, they should not write such articles.

    Sheesh.

480m was a disaster. How can they even bring that up to compare with the 6970m?

    HAHAHA YEAH OKAY EUROCOM.

This type of BS goes all the way back, to when they claimed to have engineered their own Core 2 Quad compatible M860TU motherboard. Interesting then, that this claim was made months before Clevo's revision came out, yet Eurocom never made a single sale, until Sager and the rest received the ETU variant.

This company is so shady, I can't believe they flat out lie to HotHardware, and allow it to be printed for all to see. Shameless.

At least Eurocom brought the 6970 vs 485 debate forefront. funny how Nvidia is crying foul when they are caught with their pants down considering their outrageous pricing. Ha-ha!

The whole problem though is that pricing is not concrete. No doubt it will be cheaper than 485m, but until Asus or Clevo/Sager publish their pricing I won't believe a word.

    I want a sager np8150 with 6970m
I really prefer amd(ati) cards to nvidia not because of the price, because they produce brighter colors

Why would amd always be late coming into the sagers? Did sager deliberately delayed working with them?

No, I believe Sager (and other mfrs) are actually doing their due diligence to test and validate the components before throwing them in machines, unlike, ahem, some other companies.

Better to be safe than sorry...

Also, come to think of it,, hasn't nVidia always been the faster one to refresh the GPU's than ATi? ( Not speaking performance-wise... duh. )

It's easier to refresh when all you did was change the model numbers. ;)

ATI/AMD always refreshed their mobile cards at the same times every year. CES with a mid-life kicker sometimes during the middle of the year.

Hmmm...while many of us are truly interested in the price/performance/availability of the 6970, aren't we indirectly promoting a crappy company? I'm not referring NVIDIA, AMD or Intel--

Maybe someone can start another thread, something like, "The real countdown to 6970 availability", or "Who will be switching from 460/485 to 6970?"

    Just a thought.

Very good idea there. Someone should ask a mod to close this thread, and a new proper one should be created devoted solely to the GPU's.

That sounds like the good old fashioned censorship, don't you think?
Why don't you open up a competing thread, dedicated solely to the GPU's?

Censorship? It's advertising for Eurocom is all he's saying. It should be more like "AMD 6970m pricing and availability thread"

We all know what he is saying and why, but unless you have information that the OP is affiliated with Eurocom nobody should intervene in his thread over his head especially when somebody biased is calling that action.

The thread is dead, because Eurocom was never going to have the 6970M on February 1st, regardless of whether Intel's recall happened.

Here we are on the 6th, and where is the retail 6970M? They should at least have it available for the X7200, right?

It was an advertising scam from the very beginning.
