ive been thinking about adding more capacitors on 580m since first saw its layout
    stock spcap 2v 330uf*8>>>>poscap 2v 560uf*4(core) 470uf*4(core*2/mem*2)
    add poscap 25v 5.6uf*8(mos)

580m really worths $200 more than 485m when extremely overclocking I think.
    And what about temp?

Yea a few questions here ... we need to know ...

Paste ? Stock, IC Diamond, what ?
    Ambient room temp ?
    Any Additional cooling ?
On flat surface or raised for airflow ?

Also .. rather weak 3dmark 11 score, my 6970s get that kind of score stock with 2630 CPU ...

Yeah, man! we're interested in temps, whith such hell of an overclock you should be in an 15C room, probably) anyways +1rep for the excellent job, as always)

I'm so excited for my cards to arrive now, we just need to wait for a proper drivers set to make a final judgment! That's why 3dmark11 had some poor scores...

How did you unlock 0.92v bios? Can you share a profile? Thanks

Wow, that are some heavy benches especially in vantage! :) Congrats!
Can´t wait to see what the GTX 580m will get when new certified drivers coming in!

Right now, for those who are interested, we can compare the results to my GTX 485m SLI overclocked to 580m clocks...: (driver 275.50, I7-970 overclocked to 3.6 GHz)

Your stock clock GTX 580m SLI Vantage: P25832 / GPU: 24452
    GTX 485m SLI with 580m clocks: P25658 / GPU: 23978

    Your stock clock GTX 580m SLI 3D Mark 11: P5747 / GPU: 5667
    GTX 485m SLI with 580m clocks: P6099 / GPU: 6026

The results as screenshots can be found in the X7200 Benchmark Thread.

I am sure driver support will increase it ... but so far, looking like there is no point to the 580m

Well, yeah, I thought it would be interesting how both cards are doing with same clocks. I overclocked my GTX 485m´s to GTX 580m stock clocks and til now it is as stable as with stock clocks. Played a lot of stuff, new and old and never any problems with it.

    With my 580m sitting at 760/1800 I can barely get over 16000. :( ??
At stock levels I was getting 148XX.

What am I doing wrong? I have not disabled physx; how is that done?

Yes, I am sure I could go higher, too. And I did for some Benches.
But since I am running SLI there are not too many games I can´t run in highest settings without overlocking, so it´s basically for benching only.
But I thought in this case it will be interesting to see how the two cards compare and since it is no heavy overclocking, I just keep it ;)

too bad the x7200 can't do 3d with sli, one gpu for each eye, it would make sense to do it that way.

    x7200 480m sli can do 120hz 3d vision with 266.58 :)

Except that would probably take redesigning the whole SLI algorithm :p Right now, SLI works by having each card do a portion of the screen. With 3D Vision that just means each card is doing more work to generate the full 120hz (60 frames alternating per second to each eye)

hd6990m have to oc up to 1000mhz against gtx580@835mhz in vantage
    [IMG]
and most hd6870@1000mhz have to overvolt to 1.2+v

He means the desktop 6870, which is clocked at 915mhz, and was OC'd to 1000mhz. A 6990M is clocked at 715, and wouldn't be able to get near 1000mhz even with a flash, 915 is possible though.

The 6990M is a 6870 with lower clocks and voltage, with higher core clocks it could come close, memory is a lot lower though.

i goto work out how to overvolt flash my 580m to 0.92v and try to match your scores at 835

vantage at 760/1800 and 0.87v is too unstable on the P170HM but up the memory to 1944 and (except for medium tearing with New Calico) can do P16999 (+200 gpu) giggidy

true, its harder to oc memory in vantage than 11
    but see
    6990m 1.1v~~~~6870 1.17v
    580m 0.87v/0.92v~~~~560ti 1.00v

sry i misread the meaning of that vantage screenshot of the 6870, you were suggesting to match your 0.92v 835 core score, a 6990m would have to get its core >1000

wow thats amazing, and if you use the nvidia inspector and unlock the memory setting it will definantly go higher than 1800. in another thread a forum member was wondering what the maximum memory in your unit could go up to. also thats higher than the stock gtx 560ti clocks, which the card is based on, and thats really really awesome!

Open your bios file in nibitor - increase voltage and save it on a bootable usb stick - boot with bootable usb stick - backup original bios with nvflash - flash modified bios with nvflash.

I suggest you read up on google.

Nibitor doesnt support GTX 580M, yet.

looking forward to the furmark test.
My 485m sli can overclock to 750/1700 and completely run all of those 3dmark's programs, but can not barely hold 1 min running furmark. The only oc I can get and being completely stable runing furmark is 620/1600.
