    Hi DGDXGDG.
I just did the furmark 1.8.2 benchmark with the exact same setting as you.
    I got a Clevo P170HM with a 580m gtx.
After 28 min. my temperature hit a constant 96c-97c (FN + 1 enabled) is that still normal or should I worry?
I still use stock paste, would it make much of a difference if I used AS5 or ICD 7?

Did you use FN+1 or just the regular Fan settings?

Thats too high in my opinion and he has X7200 and it has better cooling than P170HM.

thanks for the stock paste temp,
dont worry about the temp, all clevo officially equip vga card have been fully tested in rd laboratory.......but dont burn it if not necessary :)

btw my room temp is 26c, mx3 paste, no fn+1 but i think the vga fan was@100%, will test sli when my card back

Just played Crysis 2 for about 3 hours.
All settings on Ultra, 1920x1080, V-Sync disabled.
DX 11 patch and High Res Texture Patch installed.
Dont know what the fps were, but for me it was playable.

Temps measured with HW-Monitor, 86°C FN+1 was not used
    Seems alright.

Might change the stock paste to ICD7 over the weekend and will do a new Furmark and Crysis test.

ok same furmark setting, room temp 26~27c
i then realized when slave 580m reach 86c the fan will max out, then a moment down to 84/85c fan will also down to medium speed......cycling and cycling
    [IMG]
i remember 485m reach 77c will fall in this cycling

    so fn+1 on:

Did some more testing today with the stock paste. (P170hm 580m gtx)
    Did 3 runs with furmark.
    settings: 1920x1080 32x MSAA

this time I raised the back of the laptop about an inch on a hard surface desk. fn+1 enabled.
20 min each. Each time the results were between 85 and 86°C
dont know what went wrong the first test though.

Monday ICD 7 will arrive, will repaste and see if there is any difference in temperatur.

So I guess it doesnt look too bad after all.
Maybe after the repaste I might see a drop of 2-3°C

so at stock voltage, the GTX 580m has more OC potential than 6990m at stock voltage?

hey what's an easy to use and nice looking OC program for the GTX 580m? I like how AMD has their own Overdrive program, does Nvidia have its own OC program? also if not, what are the best OC programs? Coolbits? Rivatuner? EVGA tuner?

;) I did it because I used my money that I upgraded to 1600MHz RAM and IC7 Paste to pay for the upgrade to GTX 580m. I still think the HD 6990m is a great GPU, but because of its heat and voltage the 580m will probably be able to OC higher--and I plan to OC slightly at stock voltage.

when I get my GTX 580m I'm going to try 740MHz on core, what should the shader frequency be?

Also how's the heat increase at 700MHz+ at stock voltage?

I too would like to know what a good overclock program is for nVidia these days?

I've been on AMD for the last year and half but coming back to nVidia this time around.

With 0.92V voltage (moded BIOS) you can easily, permanently use the 800/1800/1600 settings. The increase in temperature is negligible (1-2 C). The only problem with OV is too weak power supply (180W). In my case, in the 3DMark Vantage test, the instantaneous power consumption comes to 225Watt. In games (Crysis), it's similarly. :(

which is why I'm not planning on overvolting it. I'm sticking with stock volts--and relatively "safe" OC of 740MHz...what should the Memory and Shader clocks be?

It's 740/1800(1900 is max memory frequency without artifacts)/1480(shader is 2x core clock)

    nice, keep us updated.

edit: I'm assuming your 225W power output is with the 2920XM. Since that processor is rated at 55W, that would mean a 215W output for a 2630QM. I guess that would still be too much for the 180W adapter?

The next version of NiBiTor will be fully compatible with GTX580M. But, You can use NiBiTor 6.03 for edit 580M VBIOS (Subvendor and Subsystem ID, and not only that) right now.

what are the 3DVantage, 2011, and Uniengine scores for GTX 580m at stock? I don't really trust notebook check scores since there are too many variables and for some odd reason both 6990m and GTX 580m scores there seem lower than on this forum.

    3Dmark Vantage - 14425 (13265 graphics score)
    3Dmark 2011 - 3428 (3160 graphics score)
    Uniengine Heaven 2.5 - ~43 fps

umm, 1.0v seems like little difference.....a 560ti can reach 900+ easly
    i think:
1.the voltage pwm ic cant read the bios volt table correctly and just run 0.92v(can measure it with mutimeter but very hard)
2.the 4 phase core power reached their max ampere
    3.mxm 3.0 connector reached it max load(ten pwr_src pins each 10v 7~20a)

So I finally got some scores in (I'll post up my review of my P150HM soon, some disappointing (mainly the RAM I requested) things, but mostly great things!) Here's my benches at stock:

Stock, No Fn+1, Completely flat on table.

3DMark Vantage: 0???? (something went wrong here I guess, I think it's because the code I registered was really old)
    GPU: 14466 (41-87C)
    CPU: 19758

    3DMark 11: P3455
    GPU: 3212 (39-74C)
    Physics: 6058
    Combined: 3209

I tried OC the GPU up to 740/1480/1800, with Nvidia Inspector. The problem is it doesn't stay that clock! after the benchmark when I check it again it's back to stock!!!!

Of course, you submitted your settings "Apply Clocks & Voltage"? If so try to make the settings via the "Create Shortcut Clocks" and check whether they were introduced in the GPU-Z.
