That what it says, though I found out why Vantage score is zero. I used 1.02 version, I'll post up the 1.1 versions later.

So anyone use Nvidia inspector and know a way to keep the OC

Upload a VBIOS for 0.92V. Your GPU will be much more stable and you can raise OC to 800/1800/1600 on permanently, without the temperature increase.

Experts, I have some n00b questions. Please enlighten me.

Why do you need to mod the vbios for voltage increase? Cant it be done through NvidiaInspector or Msi afterburner?

Does Nvidia release OFFICIAL VBIOS updates?? If so, where do i get them?

laptop vga cards dont have voltage control ic chip which supports manual tunning in windows...........

nvidia will not release bios update, vbios is "dedicated" clevo/dell/....manufacturers have to make their vbios for their dedicated machine

Oh, thanks a lot! So, does sager/clevo offer vbios updates?
    (i'm already thinking 'no')

So, the modded-1.03v-bios for 485M is from the community?? What benefits would i get if i flashed to this modded bios?? Is 1.03v just for better stability at higher clocks?
(i came to know about this from this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/608766-crash-1-03v-gtx-485m.html Maybe the OP of that thread can use some of your help DGDXGDG!)

1.03v bios i would say it "unlock" 1.03v, bcz 1.03v is set by nvidia in the original bios voltage table but not used, nibitor/editor just set load voltage to 1.03v domain..........if we can set volt to we want i want 1.05v/1.075v :D

higher voltage usually can oc higher/more stable, but heat/power increase
most important is different card have different potential, nvidia/clevo just have to ensure card runs all good@stock speed, so if stock all good but 10% oc become unstable..........that your luck :)

    One final question!
In this image, my Nvidia Inspector shows P0 state as 1.03v already. Is this a bug? I have never flashed my Vbios.

    Hi everyone,
I'm considering on exchanging my HD 6970M for a GTX 580M, since it reaches very high temps with stock paste and stock clocks, e.g. :

    (Room Temp: +-26-29ºC)
    Crysis 2: 94-97ºC
    Furmark: 98-99ºC
    BF: Bad Company 2: 92-94ºC
    Dirt 3: 91-92ºC

So my question is what temps can I expect from GTX 580M with stock paste and stock clocks or OC?

    Thank you,
    Best Regards to all

Temps for the 580m will fall between the 485m and the 6990. This means that you can probably expect temps under load to be between 75-85C. Maybe as high as 90C or so in demanding games/benchmarks, but that's unusual. Basically, shave 10C off your current temps for the 580m. See this thread for info on stock/overclocked:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/609608-gtx580m-temps.html

If for example you have the 580M in the x7200 or 7280 like what DGDXGDG above and others have, then your temps will rarely go above 83C, even under heavy bench. I love those 4 fans in this model... :)

I'm really hopping for my MALIBAL SATORI (P170HM + GTX 580M) to keep the gaming temperatures around 75C~80C when it arrives, so I can OC a bit when newer games come out (Battlefield 3... ehem *-*). That's why I added the IC Diamond 7 compound on my build :D

My current 580m hits around 84 C with IC Diamond 7 in 3dVantage. Seems a little high compared to some others but we'll see how it works out. Also what drivers are most people using for this card? I think I currently have XXX.26 but not 100% sure.

280.26 are the newest stable WHQL drivers from Nvidia for the 580m, so it's the recommended version at this time. However, some have reported issues with the new set and have rolled back to the 278 drivers. If you're not having any issues, the 280.26 are the best bet.

285.27 is a newer beta release, but unless you really want to test them out- I'd recommend sticking with the current set.

EDIT: You can also check your current driver revision by going to the Nvidia control panel > Help > System Information.

Unless you want to spend a fortune, I would just repaste the 6970m with IC Diamond 7. Overclocked to 870/1100 my 6970 never gets above 88* C on furmark. But if you want the 15ish % extra performance, go for it.

Hi, I have a Clevo P150HM with the following specs:

    Core i7 2720QM | 8GB 1333MHz | 120Gb SSD Gskill Phoenix Pro | AMD Radeon HD 6970M

Bought here in Portugal from a store named Inforlandia, they name the laptop as Insys P1150HM. Very good store and always very helpful.

    Best Regards to all

Hi all, Thanks to bonnie clyde i found a safe overclock :p

I tried several times with 3dmark vantage,

i did 4 successful runs, 2 flat on the table, 2 tilted 30 degrees with a book :p

First run on flat surface P25406 3DMarks
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P25406 3DMarks
Unfortunately i couldn't managed to get the same result or better with other runs :(

Second run on flat surface P23054 3DMarks
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P23054 3DMarks
    much lower :(

First run on tilted P24300 3DMarks
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P24300 3DMarks
not as high as the first flat

Second run on Tilted P24790 3DMarks
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P24790 3DMarks
still unable to achieve the first flat :(

I don't understand why i cannot reach the same result or better than my first run :(

and here my highest stock on flat surface
    P24239 3DMarks
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P24239 3DMarks
    and some stock runs flat
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P24186 3DMarks
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P24061 3DMarks

I did disable my kaspersky, but thats it, i haven't tested any games on OC'ed.
i do not know how to record the temps.. i dont know what throttling means, but if it a sudden drop in FPS and then a sudden jump to extreme then there is defenitely some throttling happening :D

I wanted to flash the vbios to 0.92V but i''m a real noob in this, i'm kinda afraid to brick my GPUs :p

since in the MVKtech trekster did flash his cards and he got worse performance i will stay back until it's confirmed to get better performance :D

Let me know what i can probably do more to test the improvement :D

Hi all, here i tried to run Crysis 2 benchmark,
I did with one card oced on SLI, standard and both OC'ed, no tilt,

With Oc'ed both cards, i got 8 FPS boost :D
    edit:
    With tilt makes no difference,

oc'ed to 1900 i got avg 45 FPS, im going to try 760/1800 now

I'm so lost... How does tilting the m18x change performance? Does the gpu throttle because the fans arent getting enough air?

Well I think it does provide more airflow due to the fact that m18x suck air from below and push it backwards.. T does lower my temp for 8 -10 in idle though :)

And again I'm noob in this so I think it makes a difference :)

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/7927589-post1243.html
Just need to get me a 2860QM. I will take you on! Great bench mate. Can you hit 850 on the core? 840 seems the limit for me. 850 crashes on me. Might try 845 and see what happens.

Also my 3DMark11 completes but with huge artifacting. Disco lights galore!

I found it easier to use since it have the sync button so i dont have to set clock for both and have cool skins too!

Nah, Inspector for number one as it has unlockable sliders. My memory sliders only go to 1800Mhz whereas for benching I go to 2000Mhz. EVGA isn't as good as Afterburner for me as the graphs don't have max temp readings. Inspector doesn't even have graphs but it is the only util that goes high enough for me.

These are my latest two results using EVGA precision! i turned on On screen display for GPU 1 and 2 load and temps plus FPS and i didn't get throttled AT ALL! the entire run! No throttle!

can anyone try to confirm ? at higher clock speed perhaps?

I set my voltage back to .87V and I'm keeping at a mild overclock of 700/1700.

I was at 840/1950 at .92V and didn't see any artifacts but the temps were hitting 97C in some of the benchmarks and playing Bad Company 2. I went to 700/1700 it it stays in the upper 80C range and BC2 is still pegged at 60fps so I'm going to stay here unless I find a game that needs a boost.

the power draw from wall suddenly rise to 360~370w when gt1 begins(idle is 90~100w)......so its the reson that single psu cant hold

    Try 855/2000 (with 285.27), sometimes it works : http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1860809.
    That's why I use that:

I did a Vantage @845/2000 with 285.27. I got 18188 overall and 18025 for the GPU, seems no more increase because my 2630QM is the bottleneck. Anyone know where I can get a OEM 2860QM from?
