    I know, Dude!
I am so pumped right now...got tired of waiting on the m17x and realized I could get one of these shipped in 3-7 days....I'm having it next day aired once it's ready.
It blows an m17x out of the water...and this configuration with next day airis less than the m17x because i'm getting the 3% rebate.
    No freakin' contest. Period.

Edit: Under $6.2K with the rebate

    Rhetorical...I'll answer anyway

You could actually go with the Q9550, but the performance vs price against the Q9450 didn't make sense to me. (Thanks Chaz)

But it is pretty much maxed other than that.
Of course I wish I could wait until the 9800mGTX SLI comes out, but I can't.

This will do just fine for now...

Sager is no longer offering the 64GB OCZ SSD drives, they are only offering the 128GB OCZ SSD drives due to supply issues.

    congrats on the extreme purchase!

    my friendly advice to you would be;

1; get the 3 year sager warranty for such an expensive purchase, deduct something else in order to fit in budget, if need be.

2; dump the 8 gig of slower 667 ram and go with the faster 800 ram and 4 gigs (unless you just need to have 8 gigs now for pro work). i would think they will come out with 8 gig 800mhz ram soon enough and you can upgrade then.

3; have them put the first 2 drives in raid 0 and the 3rd drive as independant so you can manually back up the important stuff onto it. with 3 drives in raid 0 you tripple your chances of hard drive failure and if one goes out you will permanently lose all your data. with one drive acting as manual backup the data will be there if either the raid array fails or if the 3rd drive fails. you will still have the benefit of raid 0 on the first 2 drives and with ssd i think you got plenty of speed!

    Really good advice,
However I have a 500GB External that I back up everything to.
The 4G for the 8G Memory is probably a better choice as well, but I definitely have the need for pushing a lot of apps at once as this Beast will be used for Work as well as play...
I got the 2 year complete...I'll upgrade later if I feel it's necessary.
    Thanks!

Xoticpc.com gives a 3% rebate for paying with a check, money order, or wire transfer.

I just assumed with the "lol" at the bottom he was laughing because it doesn't seem to be much of a rebate.

    Work...
I have a lot of programs open at any given time including Microsoft Office 2007 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Photoshop CS3.

Plus when you throw in antivirus, spy sweeper, and ad-aware...it gets bogged down quick.

How do you even afford such a thing. I would imagine with all those things, it would heat up quite quick. xD

BUT HOW DO YOU AFFORD SUCH A THING! If I asked my parents for a 6.2K laptop they;d just ignore me and pretend I don't exist... lol.

I placed an order with Alienware in late June...got tired of waiting.
I would love to wait and get the 9800mGTX in SLI, but there is no set date as to when it will be available in August.
I need something now...I can upgrade later. Waiting 2 months on a laptop is not appealing to me.

    EDIT: (shown in red)

You have to remember that the Sager notebooks allow you to upgrade the GPU(s) yourself. It's not that tough, so you can upgrade later.

And I too want to see you review your monstrosity of a laptop.

Actually the current ETA for the 9800M GTX SLi is mid to late August, and that could very well move into September depending upon when they get all of the driver issues worked out. We have seen it happen before, but that does not always mean it will happen again.

However early August is a dream at this point. :(
