Actually, the single 9800M GTX has an ETA of mid to late August, not early August, and it is of course still subject to change.

    Sales & Marketing.

BTW...I wired the money in this morning.
    I also upgraded the CPU from a Q9450 to a Q9550.
I figured if I was going to spend this much I might as well go all the way with it.
SO, once it's in we should have fun bench testing!

lol nice! personally I dont understand why your getting 8GB of ram though, sincethe chipste is limited to 6.8GB and the OS to 4GB. IMO i would stick with 4 and then upgrade IF you had to...just my 2cents..

The OS is not limited to 4GB, but you are correct that due to the other hardware overhead only about 6.8GB of the memory will be addressable, which is quite a bit more than 4GB and therefore for the power user would be very worth it.

This is particularly true in the case that you happen to use _Vista (32-bit or 64-bit) because of the enhanced prefetching functionality of _Vista as compared to XP (what MS now calls "superfetch"). Basically, _Vista will prefetch from the hard drive (or other storage) what its algorithms say the user is most likely to need or to use on a regular basis and store that material in RAM, and will generally use as much of the available RAM as is possible without being too detrimental to the performance of the system. Thus, even if you, as a user, don't need that much RAM for any one program you run, you will still get some benefit out of having the additional RAM because it will enhance _Vista's ability to keep as much as possible ready to hand in RAM and result in less of a need to go to the hard drive or other storage media to get necessary data or code.
