I'm loving that price, and other than a lower than expected CPU the specs seem good... but it's still a bit heavier than i was hoping for - and kinda ugly, IMO.
Edit: there's a hint from a polish site offering the P651SG that there might be CPU upgrade options available... here's hoping!
I'll have to wait and see how the GS60 handles the heat of both cards, and if their prices are still within my budget, but if not, this may be a good fallback option.

loving the clean looks. anyone have a picture of the underside?
not having an option to upgrade cpu is little weird :/ -

Clevo still can't get the keyboard layout right. Otherwise I'd be throwing single dollar bills at this thing by the handful...

Right shift and the arrow keys. It's an (apparently) easy mistake to make.. :-/
-
Wow this 15" is actually thinner than the W230SS, with only 25mm in height (32mm for W230SS). The weight is quite all right, let's hope that they reduce the adapter's weight too (0.5kg is good for me).
I'm really looking forward to this laptop, hopefully it will be powerful enough to max out The Witcher 3
-
To me it seems heavy because I'm comparing it to the laptop it'll be replacing: Precision M4400, with an advertised weight of 2.69kg, actual weight around 2.8kg. I was hoping to get something significantly lighter, maybe in the 2.1-2.2kg range.
Still waiting to see prices... if this thing lets me squeeze a 4870 and 980m into my budget, i might do it regardless of the weight. -

The W230SS is a bit thicker to allow space for proper cooling in the reduced footprint, it would still be lighter to carry around but is not going to pack quite the same punch for obvious reasons. -
Well you can't ask for more with that much power it provides. A lighter and slimmer design than its predecessor (P150SM) is already a huge upgrade IMO.
-
True, I guess.
Anyone found somewhere to buy these things yet? -
We will have these up for pre-order this afternoon
Prema, iaTa, Dabeer and 1 other person like this. -
When are they likely to ship?
And can anyone confirm if these have a brushed metal palm rest:
-
#Push
I am really interested, are those available in Europe already? -
Ok its up for pre-order. Right now its looking (like everyone else) the End of October'ish.
Its the same brushed metal "look" as some of the other ones have, its just a plastic finish so I wouldn't call it metal per se. -
I'm not seeing it on your site? Is it somewhere other than the mobiles page?
-
Do you know if I can output more than 60Hz out of the HDMI or mDP ports (i.e. are either connected directly to the dGPU?).
It's here Dabeer: https://www.mythlogic.com/2013_Models/dia1614.php -
I can't link directly to it, but just hover over the nav, or click on mobiles (or refresh the mobile page) its there
I know the web guys were just finishing it up, but trust me its there. The Dia 1614 is what we call it. -
Its the normal optimus setup so nothing is hooked to the nV GPU, its all hooked to the Intel GPU. Which in this case is a 4600... Yes we know there were other CPU's rumored, and we'll see if they see the light of day. Just reporting the info we are getting =)
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
So yes sadly no overclocking of internal/external displays. It's harder to justify the routing headaches now that intel's output options are getting on par with 4k and multi monitor options.
-
Personal preference I guess. With my hands on the home row I usually hit the leftmost portion of the shift key anyhow and much prefer full size arrow keys over a wider shift key. I have the same keyboard setup on my current Clevo and trying to hit the up arrow with my pinky I have to really stretch, so I dunno. I guess it's what you're used to.
-
So that means I won't be able to run a 90Hz VR headset off this machine right
-
Better brightness, contrast, and colors doe.

Lets see if this can provide some Clarifications to the questions we have been receiving, regarding the two new upcoming Clevo P650SE (Sager NP8651) Clevo P650SG (Sager NP8652) systems.
First exterior Finish:
For both models A cover (LCD Back Cover), Palm rest, and D cover (Bottom Case) are metallic material.
Secondly storage configuration 2.5 support:
NP8651 (P650SE) will be 2x 7mm or 1x 9.5mm,
NP8652 (P650SG) will be 2x 7mm or 1x 7mm + 1x 9.5mm
M.2 support
for both models it will support 1x PCIe (Gen2 x4) or 2x SATA.
Third GPU support:
NP8651 (P650SE) will support the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M + 3GB GDDR5
NP8652 (P650SG) will support the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M + 4GB GDDR5
Fourth dimensions:
NP8651 (P650SE): 15.16(w) x 10.67 (d) x 0.98 (h)
NP8652 (P650SG): 15.16(w) x 10.67 (d) x 1.13 (h)
And finally the ETA:
NP8651 (P650SE): End of October ~ Early November
NP8652 (P650SG): end of November -
Thanks, but why GLOSSY SCREENS!?
So they are not the same chassis then? SG is a bit thicker assuming a bit heavier too.
Not really. Doh! I don't want to see my ugly mug every time the screen gets dark either.Dabeer likes this. -
-
Too bad. Thought i found the laptop i was looking for. Glossy screen = NO GO.
Liked the design a lot. Simple and bezels are not too big.
Guess all there is left in the 15" market with a 980M (that you can actually carry without hurting your back) is the Gigabyte P35x V3 with the thick bezels..Dabeer likes this. -

Yeah, definitely. Just a bummer because this looks fantastic otherwise. Full size arrow keys are a must. But the downarrow should be below the bottom row, or the arrows should be set apart so that you can find them without looking.
The right shift is just muscle memory at this point. With a half (or less) size one my typing speed is affected greatly. -
The glossy screen kills it for me, too. So close. Oh well.
I'm back to waiting for the Asus G551 to be released, maybe they scrapped the 860m and added SSD+HDD support? Otherwise the GS60 seems like the best way forward - I can't tolerate the P35's weak keyboard.

So the P650SG is less than 1lbs lighter and 0.5" thinner than the P150SM-A. I'm thinking the P150SM-A is looking more tasty all the time.
D2 Ultima and edwardamin13 like this. -
If I had to go with a 15" laptop, the P150SM-A would be my deal. Also no integrated. Thanks pls
-
But this is basically the same but thinner isn't it? -
P150SM-A has integrated.
No, this one has the CPU and GPU soldered to the mainboard. The P150SM-A has MXM GPU and socketed CPU, plus 4 ram slots. -
The P150SM-A has integrated CPU & GPU? What? When? Why? Who? Since when? Was it always that way? I thought people used to upgrade their P15xxM type machines' video cards?
-
All SM and SM-A models use flexible MXM GPUs and CPUs with good old PINs.
-
This is what I thought! I was scared for a minute. Was gonna rise up from the ocean with the force of 330 killer whales and flying psychic jellyfish and storm clevo offices and demand socketed stuff O_O
-
Intel changes sockets every time they release processor so not sure socketed procs are big deal :/ you cant upgrade them to newer gen anyway :/
-
Incorrect. Two gens usually keep the same socket. Sandy and Ivy bridges are same socket, and Haswell and Broadwell are supposed to be same-socket. Also, there is the possibility of upgrading CPU. I eventually want at LEAST a 4910MQ, and ideally a 4930/4940MX at the end for this laptop I have.
-
By integrated I thought he meant optimus.
-
Has anyone heard if the 1080p screen is TN or IPS, and how are the colours/angles on it?
Also, I'm wondering if it has two fans or only one.
currently, I'm (optimistically, perhaps) going on the assumption that it is just a p150sm on a diet.
Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of specifics out there yet where I can find them. -
Can the mini Display Ports on this machine put our more than 60Hz at 1080p or 1440p?
-
We will have some more stuff up this afternoon (along with its 17" cousin)
And for the mini-DP, by the spec the answer is yes, BUT (BUT), we can't confirm that until we try as there is vBIOS's that go into that, how they wired up the ports, etc etc.
So maybe?iaTa likes this. -
Does anyone want to buy my kidney? Or is anyone in need of a graphic designer/film editor/digital matte painter/artist? I would really like to buy one of these to replace my faithful W230ST
God damn is it amazing..
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Intel IGPs do support higher refresh rate displays if the display natively supports it. -
Really? I thought Optimus enabled notebooks were limited to 60Hz, unless a DP or HDMI port bypassed the iGPU?
-
They are limited on the integrated screen, but I do not know if they're limited via HDMI etc.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Not sure if this has been answered but...
The Sagers NP8651 / NP8652 models will be offered with MATTE FHD (1080P) AND Gloss type UFHD (4k) screens...BOTH types....
-
ooooh boy, this thing is so sexy i REALLY have to hold myself back pulling the trigger on it......calm down buddy, at least read a review first!
