i have flashed both of my cards and one didnt work properly but i update my system bios from 1.00.17a to 1.00.22 and now both of them are working properly very good i have little performance increase in Far Cry 2
even in system bios are detected like nVIDIA 9800M GT

i have 62.92.34.00.17 bios on my 8800M GTX cards and i flash them with
    9800M GT bios version 62.92.34.00.18

Why do you think you are getting performance increases? It's the same card with the same speed... why would changing the name via Bios give you more performance?

The performance increase is due to a slightly more efficient version of firmware. The original 8800M GTX compared to the latest 9800M GT will have quite a performance difference.

I don't think it is a more efficient version, considering the pass from .017 to .018 version..but 5-7 FPS more is more then a placebo effect!!

When I flashed it on my 8800M GTX in august I had black screen and I had to blindly flash it, but maybe this fact was caused by my system bios that didn't recognize (1.00.08) 9800M GT...

Gangastaone could you post other benchs in compare and a little guide with program versions you used and command you used?

Can you post a link to the 9800M GT Bios that you used to flash your 8800M GTX's? Also did you have to do anything special when flashing your cards to this bios? TIA.

no just change Sub Vendor ID, Sub System ID and Board ID to mach mine this is all that i did
This is link for bios that i have
    http://rapidshare.com/files/181003501/9800M_GT_BIOS.7z.html

you have use both of them .09 is for Clevo D901C and .18 is for M570TU or RU
both bios are released in same day

o ya you have to be sure that your system bios support 9800M GT card for this to work
later today i will post some benchmarks

i just want to tell you that there are two types 9800m GT cards one is like 8800M GTX with G92 chip id: 060B and the other is with G94 chip with ID: 062B if you want to flash your 8800M GTX cards just be careful

yes because Nibitor dont have 9800M GT card support thats why you open bios like this click OK go to Adv. Info and change Device ID: from 060B to 060C save bios and open it again now Nibitor will see 9800M GT BIOS like 8800M GTX bios and you can make some changes clock voltage like that before you save the bios with the changes you made just return Device ID to 060B and now you can flash it :)

oile i want to make test in clean installed windows because this os that i use now they both have performance problems i already installed Windows 7 Build 7000 x86 and now installing 3DMark06,3DMark Vantage, Far Cry 2, and Crysis Warhead because mavke from mvktech.net wants crysis bench and i cant compare my bench with this 9800M GT with 8800M GTX bios because my last test on 8800M GTX was after i get my laptop very long time ago that why i will post them and you will make the comparison i only can tell you how the cards are perform in Far Cry 2 [windows 7 Ultimate build 7000 x86 & Vista Ultimate SP1-SP2 Beta x86] with both bios because now i play only this game

Anyone knows anything about a memory difference for 9800M GT?
I've heard that 98M uses samsung memory with less timings (that's why it scores higher??) instead of hynix memory of the 88M...
In this case there is the possibility to crash the card!

EDIT:seeing bios it doesn't seem to be difference in timings...

I'm sorry but i will disappoint you
i dont have time to run all test that you all want but i make a few
and can tell you that there was no performance increase only in Far Cry 2 with few frames but this is in Windows 7 except that now i can overclock little higher with 8800M GTX bios my best and stable clocks are:
    GPU:600
    Shaders: 1500
    now
    GPU: 670
    Shaders 1600
i didnt try anything higher but when i do will tell you

I honestly do not see how there could be. All you are doing is re-naming the card. If it isnt unlocking any SP's, which are I believe nVidia laser-cut, then all you are doing is simply giving it a different name in the bios. The hardware is still the same.

Misunderstanding.. No few frames more in Win7 compared to 88M ??
However the thing I'm interested in is the OC ability!

    However I think that .09 is for M570Ru and .18 for M860TU..

.09 is for D901C because my 8800M GTX bios has same Sub. Vendor & Sub. System ID like .09 i'm not sure but M860TU maybe use new version of 9800M GT with G94 chip and 062B Device ID
and ya i have little performance boost in Far Cry 2 Windows 7 Build 7000 x86
but if you want to see how it works try it

And so why you have flashed it with .018 ??
I'm VERY scared of flash it, but the curiosity is too much...
THe .09 is similar to the 62.92.34.00.08 of 88M GTX wich belongs to D901C but I use it without problems, the .018 is different from anything I have...
What if the higher OCability regards only 018 you are using??
What kind of commands have you used for flashing?

no i tested both bios .09 and .18 i get overclock with both and gpu: 670 shaders: 1600
i use .18 because the most stable and newer bios for 8800M GTX that i have is .17 thats why i use .18

nothing wrong with that high of an over clock except for the fact that...it gains you nothing. lordair1 did a 700/1000/1700 on single card and i beat his score with 670/970/1600.
so don't beleive the hype..*LOL* looks good, but it ain't. you start losing performance when "over" over clocking.
