I would ask because it says:

•This is compatible with laptop that has a 12.7mm Universal SATA thick/high DVD drive with IDE interface

Despite what the pictures show I got a couple adapters that weren't compatible due to a bad description. Note that this will accommodate 12.7mm drives and not quite simple to modify it to fit 9.5mm drives. I don't know why they don't just have you attach the drive using screws in the bottom instead of wedging it under a couple plastic tabs on the sides.

    you are right!
it does seem to indicate that 'ide interface' caveat.
thanks for the heads up +1

    i never asked.
i ordered one from metasharware, it took a month to arrive, it didnt work, i had to send it back, and it took a couple of weeks more for the refund, which wasnt in full.
im still thinking whether i wanna go thru the trouble.

Whoa, cool! Attaches at the bottom like it SHOULD, and half the price of Newmodeus. It says it's for 12.7mm drives, but I believe the SATA connection is the same height from the bottom of the drive, so shouldn't matter if it's 9.5mm or 12.7mm. Let us know how it works out. If good, I may go ahead and order one.

can anyone recommend a reputable seller on ebay for the sata-sata hdd caddy?
someone who has the option of shipping it a bit faster would be a plus.

I've looked. Nothing I can find supports SATA 12.7mm ODD / SATA 9.5mm HDD except for newmodeus and this other link Paralel provided.

Parallel - Any word on that caddy? I'm looking to order one myself to fit the HDD I already have (WD 500GB) and put a new SSD into my Kobalt G860 as a boot drive.

From reading this thread I know alot of people didn't get the right ODD caddy for their w860cu, but some did.

Could someone please provide a link to a ODD caddy that is known to work for the w860cu other than newmodeus - preferably ebay. I'm in europe btw.

    thanks :)

@1341 - Where did you get that caddy? When I bought one of those from eBay, it would fit a 12.7mm drive but not a 9.5mm, it was too loose under the snaps using the screws they provided.
