Yeah, that 580M is an OC beast, impressive scores, and 384 shaders is nothing to laugh at either, it's vantage scores are nothing short of amazing, although it's odd they're so much higher, yet the other scores such as 3dmark11 and some games seem much closer. I wonder if the vantage scores might tell us something? The one thing I can connect to it is the 275 driver release, which gave the desktop 580 like a 15% increase in vantage for some reason, so I'm guessing that translated to the 580M, and the 6990M just stayed the same there. Whereas the desktop 580 actually has quite low 3dmark11 scores and prior to the driver release it had lower vantage scores also.

Hey Xerloq, you've had your 6990M for quite awhile now. Have you done any benchmarks like vantage yet or maybe I just missed them?

I had done one round of 3Dmark, and posted the score in the other 6990M thread. http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/592906-ati-hd-6990m-76.html#post7837742

Haven't been able to do anything else - just launched into my MBA program, and thats taking all my focus.

I'll try to let it run some benches today while I read my case material.

Me, too. I've really got to stay on top of my reading. Hoping to squeeze in Dom DeuxEx human rev and pull some temps, too.

I saw you got like 3520 on 3D Mark 11, that's not bad at all for the 2630QM. In the Alienware forum the people with the 2720's were getting 3490 at stock speeds. So maybe the sager 6990M is slightly faster lol. :D

    Ok, Here's a new benchmark.

    P3515 3DMarks on my 6990M
    Max 88 degrees C in a 28 degree C room on the 203 heatsink.

    88C seems a bit toasty for 3dMark

That's warm, but not a problem if his temps are consistently <90C. Above that though and it'd be reason to worry. If Furmark and gaming stay relatively close to that as well, it's going to do just fine :)

Also, I've got stock TC. I'm going to re-paste with Arctic Silver 5 soon. I've got some lying around. If that doesn't lower things, I'll buy some IC Diamond 7.

What temps do you get after running Furmark for 10 minutes?

Would there be any good reasons why my 3d Vantage score seems to run around 13105 with 6990m? Normal scores in the 13.5 range, correct?

Using Clevo drivers. Temps are very normal.

    Thanks!

Hmmm decisions, decisions, decisions. Its a hard choice between these two, looking forward to a few more benchmarks before deciding which GPU to go with.
