ok ok okso some good news on my end. janice tracked down my computer and it is currently in the hands of ProStar getting the mobo fixed.
the only issue is that we arent sure if they will send it directly to me...or back to Janice...
either way, we at least know where it is and Janice has been extremely helpful.
I beg any of you that call her to please be nice. This isnt her problem, she had nothing to do with it....but she IS taking time out of HER life to correct her ADULT sons mistakes. Just remember that when talking to her. When speaking to her I got the distinct feeling that several people were not as kind as I was and were extremely demanding....just remember she didnt do this. Hopefully her son will be out soon to take care of everyone that she hasnt gotten to...hopefully Brian can get everything back in order....

where are you located Winter? You can pick it up if you are close to City of Industry.
Pro-Star can be told to ship it directly to you if you want. Just tell them the situation... ask for Wesley if needed.
I got my notebook through PC Club, whom special ordered it from Pro-Star for me. So when I needed to get my videocard swapped, I went directly to Pro-Star, its much quicker and direct. -
About Winter, well as much as i know he should be in Iraq...or maybe he is back now..
By the way i agree with Winter about the Brian's mother behaviour.
I had possibility to talk to her and she is a very willing lady.
A kind mom that every son would be glad to have -
well just a update from my side. Haven't heard anything yet from anyone.
Not sure if i should call or not just see how things are coming along.
But, i guess i'll chill a bit longer give it another week. good to hear your machine is bein repaired and stuff thats awesome. awesome that brians mother is comin threw too.

according to that some people will be waiting to at least 2008 to get some refunds....
who goes to jail four years for vandalism? -
if this is the Brian Smith in question, then there's some conflicting information going on
-
-
-
When I talked to his parole officer a while back, he told me that Brian was going to be in jail for some time...as in a long time. Where did we hear that he would be out soon? I think that part might have come from his mother. To actually wait for Brian to get out of jail is not realistic. To think that his first priority would be to start refunding money is not realistic either. The only way I see myself getting my $1500 back is for his mother to cut me a check from Brian's funds. Logistically, that idea is problematic as well. Perhaps the detective will have an update for me. I post if I'm able to find out anything new. One question for the group that is entitled to a refund...have you filed a report (via email) with the detective? I have.

wasn't he in trouble for driving without a license
and I was under the impression Brian would be out of jail in a few weeks time (maybe a month or two) , i don't recall a 4 year sentence
that's what I thought was going on -
yea i believe you are right about that, but my question is who is the person who kept saying he would be out of jail pretty soon?
I find it suspicious that his mother was misleading people in that way. -
maybe he got in trouble for vandalizing his license?
-
maybe he got in trouble for vandalizing his girlfriend.....wasn't something like that mentioned in here at one point?
-
i don't recall reading that he "vandalized" his gf
I made the remark that he has a son, but apparently isn't married -
I talked with the Probation Officer yesterday, 29 Mar 07. He talked with the mother, while I was on the other line. The mother is waiting until the father gets back from Dubai (in about 10 days). She received $4800 for selling off Brian A Smith's motorcycle. They also have around $4000 in cash that Brian left. There is more stuff to sell and possibly more money in a checking account. The total they have to pay back to several people is about $11000. The PO said that the father is a model citizen. In fact, the first time the father found out that the PO was going to arrest his son, the father actually drove Brian down to be arrested. The mother has my information and is waiting until the father returns. They are being advised on how to proceed by the detective involved. The problem is that they could have easily being charged as well. I think there is so much oversight and visibility on this that we should be able to get our money back. They may just have to sell off more stuff. Oh, and the PO is recommending more jail time for Brian because he has shown absolutely no remorse or responsibility for the trouble he has caused people. I told him what a slick salesman he was by taking $150 off because the orders were a bit behind and that the website was being upgraded and therefore unable to accept credit cards temporarily. It wasn't just a simple matter of him getting behind on orders and going to jail for something else. He was buying expensive stuff with cash and not filling orders. He was actively deceiving people in a "off his meds, manic state". His PO said that he needs to take responsibility in that he is Bi-Polar and absolutely has to take his medications everyday for the rest of his life. He will spend even more time in jail because he doesn't appear to care about the problems his actions have caused others. That is what the PO will recommend at his next sentencing hearing.

Thats sad...i almost bought a laptop from him but lucky i was not available in Australia then. I was away overseas around 20 february to 1st march. I still have many emails from him almost every day asking whether i still want the laptop or not. I keep telling him that i cant make payment due to not being home, yet he still keep emailing me everyday. I thought he was being friendly then...now maybe i understand why. Still feel lucky i was not home then, otherwise i would have paid him already

wow thats a nasty bit of news... not good what so ever.
well i talked to the detective that was posted on the RR forums.
He said he would put stuff on hold blah blah blah that was a while ago.
I guess i'll contact his mother tomorrow and see whats up. She's been nice about things so i'll try and get a moment here to call and see what she says.
I'm hoping i ain't waiting for a refund till 2008 thats ridicious. This situation already put me in water over my head, i'm sure like the most of us. -
any new news?
also what are the people who bought extended warranties going to do? -
i am trying to get in touch with my credit card company to see if they can do anything on the matter. anyone else going to do the same? -
Does anyone have Janice's email address? I sent a few requests via PM and have not had anyone respond. I still haven't heard a word and would like to at least make a polite attempt at contacting Janice.
Thank you,
Aadden -

Anyone heard anything from the family regarding refunds?
I have not as of 3 May 07.
What was the mother's number? -
Glad you got yours Winter, especially since you're far from the U.S.
Wow rickster, says accused of vandalism?? -
no new news?
-
Can someone send me Brian Smith's mother's phone number? I have not heard anything and need to call her.
-
The detective called me back. I explained that the family had not called me back. He said the family had sent some refunds but they needed Brian's permission to sell his stuff to pay people back. He said he would give the family my number. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything else. Anyone else hear anything or get some money back? My optimism is dropping rapidly.
-
what is everyone else doing to solve their extended warranty problem? -
I have received no refund or anything yet. No word back from the family or anyone.
hopeing i get my money back. its been all this time and i try not to bother calling or anything. Because i think i'll just lose my temper anyway. -
Please send me the phone number. I misplaced the one I had. Thanks.

This thread's been dead a while, but I have a question and I think it's the appropriate place.
I got my computer from Flawless in late January, a long time ago, and I've started having trouble with a small thing, the headphone jack. It's not a huge deal, but I do listen to a lot of music, either with headphones or speakers that I plug into the jack. I have to be very careful to avoid bumping the computer or cord while listening, and I have to rotate the plug perfectly to get full sound quality, so there's just a problem with connection. The jacks are a part of the barebones case, so could I get this repaired by Sager? If not, would this be an inexpensive thing to have fixed somewhere else? -
If still under warranty, I would recommend to contact Sager for advice first, before deciding to RMA it.
The jack is quite standard, you might be able to get an electronics repair place (thats advanced and confident to open the notebook to check out the jack). -
I think it is criminal for the family not to help make restitution for their son's actions. Their son's manic recklessness (mental illness) went unsupervised. If your son is mentally ill, he should have been supervised better, by both the parents and Probation Officer. The family has access to his money. How did this guy get away with stealing? His family could do something. By not even trying to communicate with us; they are criminals too. Worse yet, they mock this forum where we communicate.

More Flawless news
Brian is out of jail (though in a correctional center) and he started a new computer business, mirror pc

c'mon man... no thread necromancy
Let this thread die. -
wow just simply wow i read the other thread rickster posted, man that is a mess that stinks
-
i feel obligated to keep them updated on this situation since I recommended Flawless numerous times -
you're right, and this is the only way, and hope for some people.. gophn, i must give you a disagree on this one... they shouldn't let it rest...
-
true that it should be pointed out.
... but I consider this unfortunate turn of events to be a black eye in the custom notebook industry. -
it is most certain a black hole and people should realise that this has just been a crazy coming together of some unfortunate happenings, which will probably, hopefully, most likely not happen again.
i must admit, people can become anxious for buying custom notebooks online while reading through these pages, but it's just a view on the other side of the door, and not everything is apple-pie and strawberrys....
My question is, do some of these people already have their money back?
Hey Flawless...Anybody Home??
