So...overall battery life hovers about 2.5 to 3.5 hours?

I say you should try just normal use of a computer, something that feels natural. So, as a simulated "college" setting, try more browsing and normal function rather than gaming that takes more power.

try watching a movie. being forced to browse the internet just to check the battery life may get boring for 2.5+ hours.

    Download BatteryEater.

Then turn your screen brightness down as low as you can and still read the screen comfortably.

Then test in Classic mode (this really pushes it) and then Idle mode (this would represent just typing and reading), once each with the wireless card on and once each with the wireless off...then report all 4 results.

You will want to run the battery all the way down and then let it charge all the way back up. BatteryEater will then give a report for all 4 tests.

another thing i noticed that i feel is worthy of mention. there is no caps lock, num lock, or scroll lock led. therefore it is pretty much impossible to tell if these are on until you type. a minor yet major inconvenience

Doesn't Windows Vista have a battery meter that tells you how many hours you have left?

Those LED indicators are on the front panel just to the left of the touchpad. Look in your manual on page 1-1, #14

    Ah, that is correct.

So, look at page 1-2...you will see the picture that shows that they are on the right side of the power panel above the keyboard.

Also, look at the 5th picture down at http://www.powernotebooks.com/specs/images/2090/

Yeah, especially in Vista. You'll probably see speed increases in about anything really, because RAM overload isn't a pretty thing to deal with speed-wise.

Thanks glue, I thought to use the search function right after I posted that. It's apparently too late for me to think logically. Good luck with your tests, flip, hope they come out alright. We can't have this beautiful little machine losing to a higher-priced compy, now can we? :D

That's why I got a 1 SODIMM 2GB RAM option, so I can always get another 2GB RAM stick from Newegg in the future. :D

Does anyone know what kind of RAM they put in the Sager, or is that totally up to the reseller?

I agree. heck RAM is soo cheap i just chose the 2 dimm 2 gig for the dual channel capabilities and when 4 gig is the norm then switching it out shouldnt be hard.
