a thing about battery life, 60 percent to 10 percent in about 2 hours, downloading, surfing the web, and playing music with wireless on. the monitor did turn off a few times tho
-
So...overall battery life hovers about 2.5 to 3.5 hours?
-
when this charges to full i'll try to find out. any suggestions on what i should be doing during my tests?
-
I say you should try just normal use of a computer, something that feels natural. So, as a simulated "college" setting, try more browsing and normal function rather than gaming that takes more power.
-
try watching a movie. being forced to browse the internet just to check the battery life may get boring for 2.5+ hours.

Download BatteryEater.
Then turn your screen brightness down as low as you can and still read the screen comfortably.
Then test in Classic mode (this really pushes it) and then Idle mode (this would represent just typing and reading), once each with the wireless card on and once each with the wireless off...then report all 4 results.
You will want to run the battery all the way down and then let it charge all the way back up. BatteryEater will then give a report for all 4 tests. -
WOW, i think i just signed myself up for 12 hours of testing... ok anyone other than lost get theirs yet because i do believe this is a job better done in teams
-
another thing i noticed that i feel is worthy of mention. there is no caps lock, num lock, or scroll lock led. therefore it is pretty much impossible to tell if these are on until you type. a minor yet major inconvenience
-
Doesn't Windows Vista have a battery meter that tells you how many hours you have left?
-
all it tells me is the percentage. xp did it i'm not so sure about vista.

-
nope that's power, batter and wifi

Ah, that is correct.
So, look at page 1-2...you will see the picture that shows that they are on the right side of the power panel above the keyboard.
Also, look at the 5th picture down at http://www.powernotebooks.com/specs/images/2090/ -
didnt u say u were dl ing the 3dmark 06?? did u ever run the test?
-
ok it finally finished downloading after 3 tries, i kept accidentally messing up my network will run tests soon
-
awesome . thanks
-
-
the sound seems to have gotten better since i first got it... i don't really know why. 3dmark06 won't install... installing 05
-
Urrr, maybe your getting used to the sound. I don't think it was bad in the first place. -
3d mark scores...
yea i think your right... i don't know i'll listen to it some more
http://service.futuremark.com/orb/resultanalyzer.jsp?projectType=12&XLID=0&UID=9878710 -
It says on the 3dmark page thingy that you only have 1 gig of ram
-
yes sir i do, i just bought 1 gig of ram and i'm downgrading to 32 bit tomorrow
-
lol, did you ever find out if robson is being used?
-
For a minute there I thought it was 3d06, and I was genuinly impressed. I tink the G1S got 4k something OCed in 06.
-
what were the specs on the g1s, if it has 2gigs ram plus that will definantly show an improvement, for he has 1 gig
-
hmm looks pretty good. i wonder if 2gb of ram would boost it very much, any one know what the g1s got on 05 not oced? hope u can get 06 to work.
thanks for the updates@! -
Those are the 3DMark05 scores or 3DMark06 scores?
EDIT: never mind, didn't realize there was another page -
05 i think he said 06 wouldn't install
Edit: never mind, you found out before i told you -
when i figure out how to install it i'll run it
-
-
Oh yeah, that 2Gb will make a huge improvement, from what every other test has shown us.
-
Yeah, especially in Vista. You'll probably see speed increases in about anything really, because RAM overload isn't a pretty thing to deal with speed-wise.
-
well, i try to but it just kind of doesn't show up when i click on it for awhile. then the windows authorize thing appears and thats about all that happens
-
here's hoping the ram is doing something to the score....anyone have those G1S results yet?
-
They're in the Asus forums, Ken at GenTechPC started the thread iirc.
-
ok the top bar thing isn't working for me, does neone know of how i can enable it? bios setting perhaps?
-
-
ok the top bar with the wow video/audio and mute button aren't working
-
Thanks glue, I thought to use the search function right after I posted that. It's apparently too late for me to think logically. Good luck with your tests, flip, hope they come out alright. We can't have this beautiful little machine losing to a higher-priced compy, now can we?

asus g1s but with 4gb ram and 64 bit 3dmark06:
http://geared2play.com/phpbb/nfphpbb/viewtopic.php?p=8419&sid=64d0e27e4fb8569392a34d289de93541
stock g1s benchmarks from gentechpc:
G1S 3DMark06 at 1280X1024 Score: 3630
G1S 3DMark06 at 1024X768 Score no overclock: 4746
G1S 3DMark06 at 1280X1024 Overclocked: 4221
G1S 3DMark06 at 1024X768 Overclocked: 5411 (new record)
i cant find an damn 05's so flip needs to get that 06 loaded -
Don't let that dumb g1s beat you
p.s. I don't know how to fix your bar probolem, sorry -
BEAT THE SCORES FLIP! get some rammy and take down teh asus
i think ur gunna need the 2gb ram to get up to its scores tho :/
lollerskates -
gotta wait for the ram to come in... so i guess when the next batch ships in on monday i believe we can get some scores
-
That's why I got a 1 SODIMM 2GB RAM option, so I can always get another 2GB RAM stick from Newegg in the future.
Does anyone know what kind of RAM they put in the Sager, or is that totally up to the reseller? -
-
i'm gonna install 32bit vista right now. the bios flash from bizcom only works with 32bit windows and i don't plan on getting 4gb of ram any time soon
-
there is probably some sort of utility driver you will need in order to get your media buttons working
-
-
ok... all the vista 32 drivers aren't on the cd. most notably the nvidia drivers
