Pretty sure the T is performance. The P is battery saving due to its lower wattage.

another thing that caught me off guard, and probably my own fault. i assumed that since basically ever laptop before it had a free upgrade from 2gb to 4 that this one might be the same.

how is 2GB for vista + gaming? will it be a bottleneck?

are there any benchmarks between them? i wasnt expecting to have to decide between types of processors

    1. How quiet is the quiet/power saving button. Is it quieter than the current fn+1 low auto / fn + 3 med?
    2. Are there still the OC limitations or are all the processors OC'able through bios now.

Justin -- If I place an order with a credit card whose shipping address is different from the billing address but can't call the company to confirm everything is okay until morning, will there be a problem? Since nothing is currently in stock and you only charge the card when a system goes into production, would placing an order now alert the company now or when you actually charge it?

I don't want to have to deal with a call from the company about fraudulent activity, but I want to place my order ASAP to be one of those in that first batch.

And... I need that awesome GIFT of a gas card ;)

same thing happened on me. XoticPC couldn't charge me unless I confirm my alternate shipping address with my bank. so in your case, you will have to wait till tomorrow.
but well, who doesn't want to place their orders ASAP to be one of those in that first batch? :D

That will not be a problem. All orders are manually processed and in this case, it will be tomorrow AM. As long as you have it done tomorrow AM, it will be ok :)

We will not charge cards until the system are ready to ship. (But will be verified at the time of order)

Please PM or email me with any questions. :)

Yeah, but was your model in stock and your credit card charged right away, then? I am under the impression that we won't be charged for the 8660 until it's in stock, which won't be for a week or two from now.

annd shusssshhh don't encourage others to order! :)

Hmm should I get the Sager 2 years parts and labor warranty??

Also, can't decide between P and T processors...if the P functions exactly the same as the T but with lower wattage then I'm all for it but is there some kinda catch?

The NP2096 should begin shipping either next week or the week after.

To qualify for a $20 discount on PowerPro models and the Sager 5796, 8660 and 9262 please email or fax (775-783-1777) your Student Body card or acceptance letter, and put "Smart Pill" in the Special Instructions/Promotion Codes box in the Shopping Cart.

Xoticpc's student discount is 50% off GROUND shipping (to clarify what some have been posting) so they are about the same.

i havnt decided. Either i play it safe and buy it from Kobalt for about 2300euro, or order it from PNB/xotic for about 1700euro.

The cheaper option would be the best thing to do, but im only in north america untill the 16th of august. If it does not arrive at my temporary residence by then, then i will be left without both my money and a laptop untill i can arrange the refund.

I'd be more concerned about the warranty implications (time and cost specifically) - i.e. just getting the laptop from Europe to the US if something went wrong.

I would have complete confidence with PNB/Xotic once the laptop was in their hands of course, but they're not going to cover your shipping costs from Europe (I wouldn't have thought), let alone insure your product...(please correct me if I'm wrong). I also like being able to call someone and whine in my own timezone, although Justin and Donald seem to keep odd hours!

And then... what if you have a problem when you are back in Europe?
Maybe we should all get together and order from Kobalt. Neil mentioned that if we gather lots of people, they will give us special prices.

ok, well if we did that, we would have 3. know anyone else? maybe there are more on the kobalt forums? one thing though, is that i want to have this all sorted out before i leave.
In terms of warranty, i was just going to get gadget insurance. Not only would this give me normal cover like pnb/xotic ordinary cover, but i would aslo get theft and accidental breakage cover. this would cost about 200euro, wich is still cheaper than the added amount with kobalt.

if kobalt give us a very nice discount price for a groop (ill also pay in cash) i will go with them/you guys

Cat was, in fact, also thinking about that. I think it is really worth a shot. I am sure there won't be hundreds of people buying this from Kobalt and, if we manage to gather some of us to make an "order" group... I am convinced we will be able to make it profitable for us. I will talk to Cat later on regarding this.

I am EXCITED... The specs (on paper) blow the competition (aka, M15x aka the worst disaster ever happened with computers) out of the water. Even the pictures... it's not bad. More, the brushed aluminium gives it a mush more solid look.

    I am SOLD! :)

Helios, maybe you should contact Neil (I already did) and let him know about this. More, if you would be kind enough and start a thread to find people that are thinking on buying it... it would do all of us a big deal.

    Chat to you later.

That's right - I'm the only "old man" around here! A crabby, kvetching mid-lifer am I! Just check out the abs on my sexy avatar, hey? :D :D

EDIT: P.S., what a nice surprise, waking up to find the NDA moved forward, and the price on the NP9262 has dropped by almost $100 (using the base config as a reference point) to boot, even though it now configures with a 9800M GT, and up to 8GB of RAM! Whoo-Hoo! Now if I could just find my teeth... :D
