@vestibule1443, in desktop field, 9800 GT is actually faster than 9800 GTS I believe.

the pricing is suggesting that they are both slower than 8800m GTX.

Based on all current information (Which is to say, not much), the the 9800GT will be the more powerful of the two but until reviews/benchmarks come out we won't know how they compare to the 8800M GTX

Problems if the 9800gt is slower, many people waiting to get this for college will be in a dilemma wait for the 9800gtx as it may come later than college day usually around the 15th.

Yes, the Centrino 2 platform has both T and P processors.

The performance of the 9800M GT is statistically equivalent to the 8800M GTX. The 9800M GTS is a lower performer.

vestibule...Just email me your changes and I will make them for you.

The 9800M GTX will only be in the NP5796 and the NP9262.

It will never be in the NP8660.

But at least there is some variety in between, instead of just 8600M, jump to 8800M GTX.

Anyways I have an Exam in 7hrs ;)

What I meant was that people who were waiting for the 5796 were waiting for a stronger system, and if it turns out the 9800gt is slower than the 8800mgtx, then some might want to opt for the stronger 9800m gtx but if the ETA for the 9800m gtx gets changed again that would cause problems.

And once again do you think there is a different between 5400 and 7200 RPM?

Would two 512 MB 9800M GTs in SLI be better than a single 1 GB 9800M GTX?

the 320 7200 rpm will probably be considerably better than the 320 5400 as 320 5400 was = 200 7200, so 320 7200 higher speed with the higher density = bam

Well we don't know that the WD 320 7200 was considerably quiet and cool, but it depends on what Sager uses, always depends on the brand.

But I remember on nVidia's site it said the 9800m GT has 64 core processors (which I assume mean stream processors) whereas the 8800m GTX has 96 stream processors.

Unless this was just a marketing gimmick to please people even more at release.

The performance has been measured with actual benchmarks.

Power consumption and heat will also be statistically equivalent.

Actually the core processors might have been correct but the 9xxx series uses something called shader optimization 2.0 or something which increases the effectiveness by 40-50% is what i read.

Since everyone is here might as well post this.
    1. How quiet is the quiet/power saving button. Is it quieter than the current fn+1 low auto / fn + 3 med?
    2. Are there still the OC limitations through bios or are all the processors OC'able through bios now.
    3. Do you guys expect any delays with the 9800gtx ETA or is it pretty solid?
