It shipped today. Tracking number obviously doesn't show anything yet but its UPS ground so hopefully by Friday it will be here!

Now I need to start digging into 3D-related stuff. Brand new Sony 55" 3D TV just came in today and I always have my laptops connected to my TV through HDMI. This is gonna be sickness XD

Congrats on it almost being there! If you're in Denver like your "Location" says it usually just takes 2 business days to get to you.

Yeah I figured it wouldn't take very long at all but I like to set my expectations low so I get a pleasant surprise versus a disappointment. Perfect example is this TV - was supposed to be here last Wednesday but didn't come here til today. I was very disappointed (although now that its set up, I'm happy).

Can't wait to get the machine though, this is going to just absolutely make my year XD

I would be going crazy... Why did all of the repairs take so long? Is it always such a large turnaround time for repairs?

XoticPC is great, my only suggestion would of been to buy the SSD /mSATA separate, would of saved some money and is easy to install.

Yeah, I could have saved money. I honestly wasn't aware of how lax Sager warranty policies are but it didn't cost me THAT much more. I'll probably upgrade the drives at some point though. Its too bad that SSDs don't make good storage disks, I wouldn't mind some high capacity EVO drives!

The main problem with mine was the approval time It took for Clevo to get stock for the P370SM-A and the two graphic cards and their documentation on the new laptop for me.
Well good thing the store received the signed docs to confirm i will get the new P370SM-A instead of the P370SM yesterday (monday) and the two 880M's which Clevo accepted to give me... despite the old 780M's being flashed with @svl7 custom vBIOS . I was worried they would not accept them but the store totally surprised me with the new base and the 880M's... so... only 4 months waiting for Clevo Taiwan LOL
but.. totally worth it since i'll have the latest in terms of specs :D
then to spare some money and buy two SSD'S of 1Tb each, the 32GB of ram and the 4940MX CPU... but I'm happy with my config so far :)

Ethrem do you know what are the differences between the P370SM-A and the P377SM-A that you ordered? only design?

The P370SM-A, P375SM-A, and P377SM-A appear to share the same user manual (available here: P370SM-A/P375SM-A/P377SM-A Series) so I would imagine that there is little difference between them in terms of the internals.

Yeah looking through the manual, there are a few feature differences (like only three of the four models support Thunderbolt and of course, the LED backlighting is different) but the motherboards are likely the same from what I was looking at. Maybe someone else can clarify, its not a service manual.

The P370SM and P375SM were the bling and non bling versions and the P377SM-A is the only current version. I believe they were the same internally.

P370SMx-(A) has no lights except the keyboard
P375SM-(A) has the full light show keyboard, sides, LID, touchpad etc..
P377SM-(A) is the middle way with lights on touchpad, keyboard & sides

    Overall designs differ a bit

Sager decided to only offer the P377SM-A atm, but you can get all 3 from Clevo reseller

lol I miss the lights from my M17x, personally. Although I like the more muted approach of the P377SM-A... I don't like the trackpad and LCD lid lights.

Hopefully my laptop arrives at the same time as my PowerShot G16 - I'm not sure if Amazon used UPS or FedEx. If they used UPS, there's a good chance that I'll get both at the same time. I haven't had a decent camera since my G9 got stolen by an old roommate.

Well... First impressions... Its got issues.

The trackpad really is THAT bad... Which is a bummer. And its right in the middle which means I brush it all the time when I'm typing. Very stupid placement and by far the WORST buttons I've ever clicked on anything in my life.

Right now I'm trying to figure out why the internet upload is shot. Its maxing at 3Mbps while downloading at 57Mbps (I have 50/10 from Comcast).

The keyboard is going to take some getting used to... because of the small keyboard, I can't use my right shift key anymore or I hit the arrow. I'm sure I will adjust to it.

The pluses though? Just about everything else. Its quite quiet too with normal operation but the fans kick up FAST with any load.

It also crashed the first time I turned it on... Wasn't amused by that but it rebooted and came up fine so who knows what it was.

The fingerprint scanner works extremely well.

The trackpad really is a bummer...

As for flex? It flexes. It doesn't actually warp the display in practice but it makes a ripple effect that can be seen when the screen is off. Kind of odd.

    Full review will come later.

Also when I went into the nVidia control panel, it let me set up my Sony TV on 3D right away and it works great. Any use of the GPUs though shoots the fans up. Going to have to check the temperatures I think.

I also got a 1 year warranty card in the box even though I purchased the 3 year w/ accidental from XOTIC, I'll have to check with them about that. Its going to be a bummer if parts aren't covered for 3 years because that's what I was expecting. My shirt is an XL when I asked for a large as well.

    Mind. Blown.

I can't see anything in there... I think its just got odd buttons, I'm quickly adapting. Now I need to figure out how to reverse the scroll direction when using the two finger... Scrolling down should scroll down, not up!

Yeah its actually faster than I expected. They're M500s (just confirmed in Intel's IRST control panel) which are quite a bit slower than the M550s so I wasn't expecting such nice speed, even in RAID0.

That is the card Sager includes with all their computers since that is their standard warranty. If you got the 3yr from us, just make sure to contact us for any warranty needs and we'll be able to pull up in our system you did get the 3yr.

That card is just to give you the warranty information itself, same card on every machine. The 3 year option just extends the length. If you wanted to verify the warranty just shoot an email over to our service team with your order and serial number, they'll be able to verify for you.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I figured that was the case, just wanted to get into my machine not sit on the horn figuring it out ;)

    First 3dmark run was underwhelming

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4940MX CPU @ 3.10GHz,Notebook P377SM-A

Installing the latest beta drivers though.

This thing has surprisingly decent sound quality. I didn't think any laptop would match what I had with the M17x and of course, unlike the M17x, the speakers aren't in the front of the machine, they're under the monitor where they should be.

Overall I'm quite happy so far. There are some quirks, to be sure, but even the fan noise isn't anywhere near as bad as I expected. Just put XTU on and I'll be checking temps. Unfortunately we are under a thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch here right now so I may not get to do too terribly much today.

Here's XTU's benchmark on stock, doesn't look too shabby.

Yea, when I got my sager, based on all the official reviews about the unbearable fan noise, I was expecting a jet turbine on my table.

Under load, I was thinking 'where's the fan noise?'

Granted, you hear the fan, but it's not the giant lion roar, werewolf howl, grizzly bear snarl, or jet turbine whine that every review said we'd be getting.

Brings about some confusion why they said that, ya know?

Well its loud... but not compared to the M17x I had previously which did sound like a turbo jet engine. With that said, compared to the 17R its replacing... Its still not that loud. And its not WHINEY which makes fan noise so much worse unlike the 17R AND the M17x!
