Let's play a game. I just got a new carry torch with the coveted LED revered by lightheads everywhere. Guess the LED model (not the flashlight) and win +1 rep. Guess the flashlight make and model and win another +1 rep.

Close, but no cigar. But +1 rep for making a good guess. One of my previous torches was a Fenix.

Reps are still up for grabs.

Hint: This one uses something much brighter, albeit larger die, than a Cree.

Nope. Not a Surefire. But +1 rep for you for a close guess.

I've decided to switch back to my original DPI settings of 800/1600/3200. 4000dpi was a bit too fast for me and made me a bit worse in precision FPS like CS:S. I left out 200 and 400 because I never needed to use them. If you guys want to reproduce the sensitivity I play with, open up CS:S and setup the following: reverse mouse on, mouse filter off, mouse sensitivity set to default of three, screen resolution of 1280x720. Windows mouse settings are left default.

What games are the majority of KGB members playing right now? I'm about to purchase BF2 because I haven't played it in awhile and its cheap. Other than that I want to get MW2 also, and obviously CS:S. Just curious if any KGB guys actually get together and own on the same servers.

Usually I hold or join L4D2 and CS:S for this group and neighboring groups. They're mostly held late at night. Although I can only host CS:S games for now as I bricked my notebook.

I removed the GPU. Now my W870CU is a paperweight brick sitting on my desk. Someone wanted to buy my GTX 280M for $500 on another forum, and I know that if I wait longer before the GTX 285M is released, I won't be able to sell it at that price. So I decided to hop on this deal and part with my GPU and use the money to purchase the GTX 285M in two months when it launches in CeBIT in March. I'm back to my trusty M38AW again.

Yes. My notebook is perfectly fine. It's just it has no video adapter now. I'm still going to be conditioning my battery once a month and leave the battery dormant after a 40 minute drain from full charge. All of the projects I have planned to do on it will be pushed to March, or whenever the last iteration of the G92b comes out. That includes the long anticipated cooling overhaul. I don't mind the long wait. It gives me time to not screw around during my (hopefully) last semester before I graduate.

I also plan to pick up Intel's new 6300 wireless card to replace the 5300 one I currently have in my notebook. Right now it's not out yet, but by March stores should have them.

I am a calm and patient Buddhist. My notebook is just a piece of plastic and silicon; a material entity. I can live happily without it if I wanted to. Things come and go but will always return to me in a good way if I don't take it for granted or grow insanely attached to it. But coming back to reality, my five year old M38AW still packs enough punch to get me through the semester and keep me competitive in CS:S. I kind of wanted to use my notebook as my actual senior project and research and publish my project on thermodynamics using my cooling overhaul as the primary subject of analysis. It would have been the most practical and momentus project the engineering department would have seen in a while. But in the end, I guess you can say I got greedy and wanted the last iteration of the G92b dubbed the GTX 285M that will keep me happy throughout the service life of my notebook. But without my primary notebook, my fun and entertainment is just shifted to other things now. It's really no loss for me, both monetarily and sentimentally. I'll be back in the game once I get that new card. All the adrenalin and hype that remained dormant in me over those few months would unleash into resuming the tests and projects that I still have planned.

RJTech only sells MXM standard cards tailored mainly for Clevo notebooks. They will not work with the proprietary slot on any of the Asus notebooks. The only non-MXM cards that RJTech has remaining in inventory are for legacy Clevo notebooks.

It looks like I may have to wait for a while until I can use my new toy. I won second place at my school's Smash Bros. Brawl tournament last weekend and won a SteelSeries I-1. Yesterday the cord on my G9x was yanked so hard that the leads almost ripped out of the socket. Nonetheless, it doesn't work anymore and I'm having it replaced by Logitech, which shoud probably take a week; I'm in no hurry. And so my new I-1 and sits here in it's packaging just waiting to be used. For now I will have to make due with the trusty mouse that has been with me since the very beginning; an almost decade old Dell ball mouse. The rush of nostalgia from racking up headshots on a mechanical mouse never fails to put a grin on my face. Now I just have to clean the ball.

Actually the other day, the laser on my Razer Copperhead decided to fuzz out and die on me. For a week I had the pleasure of reaffirming my memories towards a century old ball mouse. Played MW2 and still raking kills like a vacuum cleaner :D

Then bought myself a Razer Imperator. Pretty nice mouse, but I hardly see any reviews on it

Razer has a good warranty support just like Logitech. Just send it in to Razer and they will replace it for you. For my G9x, all I had to do was tell Logitech that my cord was broken and that the mouse no longer works and they approved my request for a replacement. All I had had to do was send it the bare mouse itself; I got to keep my two grip shells and my weights. So when I get my replacement within the next week, I'll have an extra pair of grips.

While we are on the topic of mice lol, will you guys help me pick since I have never owned either. Its between:

    1. Sentinel Advance (cheap lots of features, comfy)
2.Razor Death adder (Comfy, cheap, however apparently feels poor quality and to light)
3.Logitech G9x (Lots of features, good company, however very expensive for what it is.)

Both the Sentinel Advance and the Death Adder are competitive in price compared to the G9x. Both of those mice are contoured to be held in a palm grip and are better suited for low to medium DPI users that set their DPI to 200-800dpi. The G9x is a small and very light mouse that is in the same size class as Logitech's notebook lineup of mice. The G9x was purely made for the fingertip grip and claw grip users in mind that like to play with high DPI of 1,000dpi or greater.

I'm not too sure about the build quality on the Sentinel Advance as that mouse was just recently released and has not seen a year on the market yet unlike the Death Adder and the G9x. The Death Adder has gotten a lot of mixed comments about it's quality. The rubbery paint will slowly peel off over time making the mouse look and feel like it has leprosy. Sweat accelerates the degradation of the paint, so keep the mouse clean after you use it, though this applies to every mouse you use. My main issue with this mouse is with the scroll wheel. Razer, as well as Microsoft, are notorious for using sh*t scroll wheels in their mice; the ratchet isn't tactile nor provides firm resistance against turning the wheel one click at a time, and the wheel may at times execute a scroll movement even before you finish moving the scroll wheel after it's ratchet click. A lot of users here may say otherwise about the quality issues with the Death Adder, but this is just my general observation from using the mouse myself as well as from my LAN buddies that use this mouse.

Both the Sentinel Advance and the Death Adder, as well as every 3000+ DPI laser mouse that Razer produced as of 2007 use the same POS laser engine, the Phillips Twin-Eye. My biggest beef with this sensor is the prominent Z-axis jitter (lift jitter) and negative acceleration at a rapid come to stop. For low and medium DPI users, this is not what you want hindering you on the battlefield. The G9x, and the Xai from SteelSeries, use the new Avago LaserStream ADNS-9500 sensor, which is a much better product compared to the Twin-Eye. You get a low lift distance, no lift jitter, and no negative acceleration. The maximum tracking speed on both sensors are high enough that you would need superhuman arm speed to move your mouse fast enough to get the mouse to skip in tracking. Overall tracking is good on both sensors. Only when you start going into crazy high DPI such as around 2400dpi and above will you start noticing that the tracking performance of the sensor will become dependent on your mousepad as well. I'm not saying that the sensor will have problems tracking at a high DPI, rather I am saying that at that DPI level the mouse is very sensitive to movement and resistance. Even a slight vibration or snag in the mousepad will move or impede your mouse. If you're a high DPI user, you need to get a "hard" mousepad. Fortunately for me, I won one last weekend and I'll put it to use once I get my new G9x from Logitech. The LaserStream ADNS-9500 does have a few quirks with positive acceleration at a rapid come to stop, but that's only at a high DPI. High DPI users generally only use their fingers and/or wrist to move the mouse so the mouse isn't going to move as fast as a low DPI user that whips their mouse across their mousepad so positive acceleration won't be a problem with this sensor in that area.

The G9x has been my weapon mouse of choice since I departed from my old Dell ball mouse, and my MX 1100, which I gave to my mom when her cheap Office Depot mouse died on her. The only quality issue that the G9x has, in my opinion, is with the wide load grip. The rubbery paint on that grip will eventually wear down like I mentioned above with the Death Adder. I use the smaller precision grip so it doesn't really matter to me. The scroll wheel is a big chunk of metal that is accurate, fast, and tactile. The scroll wheel is harder to push for the middle click compared to the Sentinel Advance and the Death Adder, but your finger will get used to it. The scroll wheel is fairly tight too so when you middle click, the wheel isn't going to tilt to execute side scroll.

All three mice have a well laid out button scheme. I'd say the Sentinel Advance's thumb buttons are a little too high, but that's probably my personal bias. The software that comes with each of the mice are very user friendly and allows you to setup your mouse the way you want it as well as keep your settings stored to the mouse's onboard memory so you don't have to reconfigure when you use your mouse on another computer. All three mice have a center of gravity that is more towards the rear of the mouse. The majority of users including myself prefer the weight balance this way as it follows how the human wrist lifts a mouse, and keeps the front end (cord end) of the mouse from landing first. They all come with extra weights if you want to add more ballast to the rear of the mouse. However, all of the mice are well thought out in terms of weight and weight distribution so I don't think you would feel uncomfortable with any of them.

This is pretty much the scope between these three mice. If I were in your shoes, I would consider the SteelSeries Xai as well. It looks like a boring ambi mouse, but it's a strong competitor along side these mice too.

The Orochi is marketed as a notebook mouse, but Razer does make other fairly small mice.

The Orochi is smaller than the G9x with the smaller precision grip. Other than real notebook mice, I don't think there are any mice out there that are as narrow as than 5-6cm. The Orochi is as small as a performance mouse can get.

Hey guys.... just wanted to introduce myself.... I just received the shipment confirmation from Xotic on my 8690 and its on its way..... very excited... I decided to go with this one after a week with the G51JX-A1..... it had to go back for several reasons.... BSODs, blistering palms, and lackluster 360m performance.... been trolling the forums for info and many of your thoughts have help me decide on the clevo.

oh.... btw... Soviet speaks the truth about the Razor Deathadder. mine began to shed its skin about 6 months of use.

My G9x replacement came in today and I decided to swap out the feet with one of my unused sets of Hyperglide feet that I had on reserve for my old G9x when it came the time to replace the feet. Along with my newly christened I-1, all I can say is wow. Friction becomes a foreign word to a G9x with new white shoes sliding down a sheet of ice. The tracking on glass is also superior to my old cloth QcK mini. Picking off the heads of those silly Amerikansky soldiers from the lighthouse becomes as easy as can be. There will be so much raging from seeral 12 year olds halfway across the country tonight.
