You get what you pay for. You also get the legendary three year Logitech warranty that will replace your mouse even if it is abused by the user. I sent my G9x to be replaced because the cord was yanked out of the mouse end. I have a buddy that just sent in his double clicking VX Nano and got an Anywhere Mouse MX as a replacement since Logitech no longer produces VX Nano's. I know several people that sent in their old G5's for the most mundane reasons and got a G500 in return.
Just know that you're not going to get the best engine on the market if you go with the Sentinel.

Go to the email page on Logitech's website here. http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com...il&crid=595<_product_id=**&tabs=**&cl=us,en
Fill in all the necessary information. The serial numbers for Logitech's general notebook mice are usually on a plastic tab inside of the battery bay. On my G9x, the serial numbers are on a plastic tab on the USB plug end of the mouse cord. Just tell them about your issue with the batteries and they will see it through. When they ask for your personal info (name, shipping address, phone number, etc) they will also ask you for proof of purchase (store receipt, etc). You do not need this in order to get an RMA approved, but if you do have it just run it through your scanner or take a picture of it with your camera and include it in your email. If you don't have it, just say that you had this mouse for about two years (or any length of ownership time less than three years, which is the length of Logitech's warranty). I don't know how they handle warranties for overseas customers, but for North American customers, they email you a paid UPS shipping tag so you can print it out and slap it on your shipping box so you can ship it to their RMA facility in Arizona. Print out your documentation of your emails with Logitech as well as your return address inside of the box.
Like I said, the VX Nano is one of the many mice that Logitech no longer manufactures and the only ones left are the leftovers that are still on retailer shelves. You will most likely get the successor to the VX Nano, the Anywhere Mouse MX instead. The Anywhere Mouse MX is identical to the VX Nano in shape, but the forward and back buttons and now accessible by your thumb instead of by your index finger, which was one of the bigger complaints with the VX Nano. The new laser engine is really something else and you get the same tiny wireless receiver, but now with the Unified technology. -
thanks for the info.
this mouse was my favorite computer accssory but i dropped it some weeks ago and since then its been draining batteries really fast.
some guy said that i probably bent a 'plate' that causes this battery drain and could lead to it being a fire hazard.
are you aware of this issue? -

I don't recall any of Logitech's wireless mice to have a battery drain issue. I could say the G7, but that mouse is just a plain battery guzzler altogether. This problem was indeed caused by the mouse being dropped. What probably happened is a metallic part of the mouse was jarred out of place and has closed itself as part of the existing electrical circuit that goes through the controller. A lot of raw current is most likely being drawn and looping back to the batteries causing the batteries to drain current and expend heat a lot greater than before. It is a fire hazard and I'd say refrain from leaving your mouse unattended with the batteries in. You can still use it as it doesn't sound like all of the current is being drawn back to the battery. And even when it does potentially get to the point where the AA batteries will fail, the cells will just vent themselves. This goes for both alkaline and NiMH cells. The safest course of action though is to stop using your mouse altogether.

Soviet, I also have a G9x and absolutely love it. The one thing I don't like about it is how hard the middle mouse button is to press, it messes up my air bursts (cooking frags is fun).
Does this bother you or any other G9x users or is this just me? I guess I also could utilize the side buttons. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
The middle click is a bit difficult to press at first but I got over it after the first week. It's certainly much easier to press and more tactile than the other Logitech mice with the Hyperscroll wheel.

That's good, I hope I can get used to it (although I might need a computer first... lol). I found the Hyperscrolling to be pretty much useless, but the weights are great.
Another thing I've thought about is the DPI adjustment. It's more as a convenience than something that will ever be used during gameplay. The R.A.T. mouse has a button near the thumb specifically for temporary DPI reductions when held (for precise sniping etc.). Is there a way to make one (or both for that matter) of the G9x's side buttons work this way? I would imagine there is and I'll mess with it to figure it out if nobody else has an answer. -

Changing the DPI during gameplay is probably only useful in games that involve turrets. For example in BF:BC2, tank turrets, stationary turrets, etc guns, have a really loose response to the mouse and require a higher sensitivity to match your primary sensitivity in regular shooting. Personally I don't adjust it, but users that want a more sensitive control when using these turrets can see the benefit of changing DPI on the fly.
A lot of people say that having the DPI switcher is good for sniping. I really find that to be a risky, especially for front line snipers. Taking your index finger off of the left click to change the DPI does take up a significant amount of time and will be the user's demise in a tight spot. I don't think I know anybody that switches DPI when sniping in FPS games anyway. -
The riskiness is exactly why I would never use the buttons behind the left mouse button (in game anyways). What I mean was, for example could the button that's used as "back" for internet browsers be changed to mean 1000 DPI instead of the maximum, but return to the maximum when released (rather than an actual lasting change that would need to be reversed). This would make it so your pointer finger doesn't have to leave the left mouse button.
Something loosely related: sniping in Borderlands is fun because is so much easier than what I'm used to in COD.
Edit: as far as the Hyperscrolling, it may be more usable if I change settings to make each increment smaller and more frequent somehow. -

Unfortunately, there is no way to allocate a button to serve as a temporary "hold" DPI setting. The macro editor tools in the Logitech SetPoint software does not allow the user to designate the DPI decrease or DPI increase to a macro. The best way that I see that you can utilize DPI switching without using your index finger is to make your thumb buttons function as the DPI switcher, though it will still be a toggle switch.
This has been discussed before on the Logitech forums, but the community has not expressed enough demand for this kind of DPI switch operation. There are simply not enough snipers out there that switch DPI under pressure.
The only time that I need to use 1600dpi or 800dpi from 3200dpi is in image editing programs. I'm thinking of moving back up to 1000/2000/4000dpi since my new mousepad has made tracking extremely precise now. -
That answered everything I was wondering about. So the Logitech software can't do that. I hope they make one that does allow that eventually. Thanks for all the input.

if i cant have it replaced i think i will just remove the batteries when it is on storage.

I'm really looking forward to playing it again. How does it compare to before the update, in terms of tactics and general gameplay, and are there people complaining already how they want the old CS:S back?
