It is a social thing. It would be possible to live in a society where you are deemed to be an adult at age X, end of story. The shipping companies are getting away with it because it is socially acceptable to do so.

Hmm... I wonder if the shipping companies could be sued for that. If someone 18 bought the computer, that person is a) an adult and b) the rightful owner of the computer. If the shipping company refuses to deliver to that person because that person is not 21, they are holding that person's property without good cause.

It's called the computer lab or the library. How many major papers are they going to do in English class during the first three weeks?

And you don't actually *NEED* your pencil and paper either. Use you're memory, that's what it's for.

    /sarcasm.

It's a thought, but the shipping companies wouldn't have policies like that without consulting legal advisers, etc first, and then again, they are policies that are bought by the resellers who are shipping them, so its more of a paid service.

Taking notes is a good idea and you don't need a laptop to do so. That was my point.

And as for drew - you originally stated "negative here not with an english class", which implied you needed a laptop for English class itself. You made no mention of your job.

I ordered on July 8th with WSXGA+ and I haven't gotten my shipping notice yet. Are a lot of people still in this position? Though, I did try to change something in my order but they couldn't because it had already gone to the 'shipping queen', accord to Justin haha, so I guess it should be shipping relatively soon.

SpaceMonkeyMafia, if you ordered a WXGA 6 days before me you should have gotten yours on the first shipment on June 22nd.

Remember that if you had the TV Tuner, Bluetooth or 1x2GB memory you would not have been included in the last shipment regardless of your order date.

Just got a reply from PNB. Ordered WXGA July 16th, no TV tuner, 1GB sticks and no BT. Reply says that my laptop enters production late this week, and should ship out next week. I'm excited.

On a side note, that ETA seems pretty specific. Have shipment dates cleared up or something?

Edit: The only "performance" reason not to do 1x2GB is the lack of dual channel, which shouldn't do much. Although, tests have shown that the Santa Rosa Core 2's are slightly more bandwidth limited than the Napa Core 2's, because SR runs at a 800 FSB out of sync with the DDR2 667. In other words, Dual channel should do more to help SR performance than they did to help previous generation Core 2's.

Bah, I ordered July 18th and I'm still in the dark. At first, they estimated late July, then early to mid August, and now I have no idea what's going on. I ordered 1x2gb, Bluetooth, AND WSXGA. So I guess if I'm lucky I'll see mine sometime next semester.

1x2gb and Bluetooth aren't supposed to be an issue anymore. Only the fact that you got WSXGA+ should slow you down. But that's coming in just as regularly as the WXGA now (regularly, but slowly -_-). I would say, expect it late August. I ordered 1x2gb, Bluetooh, and WSXGA+ as well, but on July 8th. Mine just shipped today, about a month after I ordered.

Yours will come eventually. Just have patience! :D

    2x1gb, no TV tuner

Mine just came in like less than 30 min ago, had a sagergasm unpacking it and starting it up. Well, Windows is still checking the performance right now.

    No camera ftl.

Edit: Seems like it's Vista 32 bit installed on mine. Also, when inserting the Vista disc it seems that the only thing on it is x86
