No no, thats not what I meant. I ordered july 8th, got my confirmation on the 10th. But since its credit card, they don't charge until they have my items. So i was wondering since they charged my fathers card 5 days ago, shouldn't it almost be shipping?

Right now it could be one week or two weeks before the resellers would receive the laptops. Then it will take them another week to test them and ship them. So maybe 2 weeks if you are VERY lucky, but probably more like 3-4 weeks.

Sager confirmed this and they where more a**holish about the whole situation the guy told me "we dont know could be 2-3 weeks we dont know, we already shipped out many orders this week"... Seems compal has really screwed over their resellers...

I think this has just been an odd time with all the delays because of the plastic manufacturers and the line in which these were supposed to be built... Basically all of us were unlucky. Can't blame the resellers or even compal because they said that the plastics manufactuer screwed up...so is it their problem?

I don't blame the resellers. I *do*, however, blame Compal.

Someone screwed up royally here, and isn't passing any news down the line. Whether they just want to keep their current orders, or just because they forgot/didn't care, it's still unacceptable.

I have a feeling that there are going to be a lot of cancellations in the near future. There are people who have been waiting a long time and there seems to be a lot of frustration.

Yup, I'm considering canceling my order and getting the Acer 5920G. Around the same price after tax, even tho I configured my Sager without an OS. Also, the Acer has HDMI out and xD card support, which is relevant for me b/c I have a Fuji camera.

EDIT: upon more searching, I have decided to cancel my order. Nearly a month after my order, prices on competing products have dropped. I'm leaning toward the Asus S96S right now but still searching...

Has anyone who has ordered after July 13th received a NP2090 of any resolution? I am personally wondering about anybody who received shipping notice on a WXGA screened NP2090. If I don't get a notice on Monday, I'll email PNB and see if there's a more concrete shipping date. I'd really prefer not to have to switch notebooks, but I've been giving the Dell 1520's a serious consideration for the first time since I placed my order, despite the fact that I (personally) think they are unattractive. I also don't want to continue my experiences dealing with Dell if it can be avoided.

I waited 9 weeks for mine and thought about the Dell too. I've had such bad luck dealing with the support on Dell's consumer side that I couldn't make the switch. If you're considering Dell, I'd look at the latitudes, but you're compromising on the GPU, but they're well made machines. I'd also look at the Vostro over the Inspirons. They may be supported by the business side of things.

But you'll like the Compal if you can hold out for it.

What was bad about your Dell experiences? I'm getting a laptop for the 1st time, was always a desktop DIYer in the past.
I'm also considering the Inspiron now. Similar prices with an OS and a choice of colors.

The item is so expensive that they choose the highest UPS policy or something like that which requires a 21 sig.

    * Adult Signature Required: UPS will obtain the adult recipient's signature and provide you with a printed copy. Adult recipients must be at least 21. You may also view the adult recipient's signature online.

Usually placed on orders that cost alot or require more security than others. Sager, PNB, and XoticPC use these policies from what i know.

If it's anything like how my old college worked:

Someone in your complex (the manager or what have you) signs for packages and you receive a note in your mailbox saying "dude, you got a package!" and then you go to the manager/front desk and give them the slip and you get your package. All of the dorms on my old campus required you to get in to the building with your ID or a security code (all electronic) so there was no way for packages to be delivered directly to your dorm room.

This was at Western Washington University 2+ years ago.

My dorms were the same, they had the housing office place where you could rent stuff like vacuums and ask questions. They also handled the packages by signing for them and placing a slip in your mailbox that notifies you of the package. You then go inside and give them the slip and show them your ID and sign for it.

Thats exactly how my dorms were. We had a PO mailbox where we would receive all our mail. If we received packages, we would be notified about them to come and pick them up.
