FN +1 will max out the fans - not sure if it's both or just the GPU or just the CPU.
Hitting FN and the number 1 again will put the fans back to normal.

We will need better fan control though...or any.

you need to press FN and the number 1 both holding FN key and pressing 1 . my cpu fan is always working because its hot here but the gpu fan don't beacuse i don't play game but when I press FN+1 gpu fan start kick-in at full speed

 

Fn key and the Number 1 key (not the F1 key) just below the F1 key.

What about the kombustor trick?

Running kombustor "monitoring" makes the 7970M "wakeup", "activate" for want of a better term so you can then run GPU-Z successfully.

It's the simplest thing we have so far to manually turn on the 7970M.

 

I though we can run fan at full using kombustor

Malibal p150em got it month ago

I bought from Xotic and I got it 5/30, ordered on 4/29.

 

Didn't do anything for me.

 

Just ran a bunch of games and got 100% GPU on things like Crysis 2 first level etc. Just a bone stock install. What other games aren't performing properly or having low GPU utilization so we can do some confirmation testing. I'll be on tonight, so the sooner the better on the information =)

 

My P150EM SE is from Malibal but there's no Fn + 1 function.

 

So you guys have the P150EM and the Fn+1 works? I just want to clarify that.

 

Hmmm... So two Malibal-built P150EM with differing Fn+1 functions. BIOS versions? I assume both of you have AMI?

 

I personally don't have my laptop yet, but I think the game with the most problems with utilization is Battlefield 3. The weird thing is that it's only the multiplayer. The single player works just fine (as I've heard).

No, I believe you. I'm trying to figure out here if you guys have that because you have the P150EM or is it because of a different BIOS version... or both? My theory so far is that you guys got the 'HM' BIOS? Maybe? And others who don't have the Fn+1 might have a different 'EM'-only BIOS?

I've got an XoticPC NP9150 and the Fn 1 as well as Fn Esc both work. Fn+1 puts both CPU and GPU into the highest gear that I hadn't heard even with Furmark.

Why in the world I had to learn about these controls online is beyond me. I'd never have figured it out. Some icon on the keys would have been nice.

So yea just did a Crysis 2 SP run and a Battlefield 3 Wake Island (64) both bounced all around between 85-99% utilization depending on what was going on on the screen. So yea... Guess I'll get out some SC2.

The crysis run was the stock 12.3's that came from Clevo. The BF3 run (40's to round 50fps) (Ultra) that was uhh something else.

 

I want them. Whatever version they are. Now. Or the puppies get it.

I don't know if you have it lying around, but could you test Just Cause 2? The campaign has some drops to 60% usage for me, but running the Concrete Jungle benchmark, which has consistently low (~50% with some very rare spikes) utilization, should also reveal any problems. This does have an effect on playability for me: during the usage drops, my framerate dips into the 30s.

Edit: Or perhaps you could load the Adrenaline Crysis 2 benchmark and run Times Square with DX11, High-Res Textures, Ultra, 1920x1080 (no AA or 4xAA). I have 99% utilization right until the camera looks at a few billboards and enters the battle with the Ceph. At that point, there is a noticeable decrease to 60% for me.

 

I'll load up the demo.. See how that does... Soon as this SC2 finishes downloading, common Blizz, SC1 was like 30 MB

However, I noticed something that might be interesting while trying to fix the Fn + 1 issue! The short cuts for fn + Esc and Fn + -/+/* (for keyboard backlight) are all installed when you install the hotkey driver that comes in the clevo cd. If you try to open the setup again and modify the installation. There is a list of 'features' that are installed going from 'Default Features' to 5 or 6 'New Features' 'You'll see that there are only 2 or 3 that are ticked.

It's annoying that the 'features' are not named but I tried playing with some of them. What I ended up knowing is that adding features will screw everything up. Fn + Esc and other shortcuts won't work. This happened at least with the 3 features I tried to add.

So I managed to disable Fn + Esc by modifying the setup for the hotkey driver. Maybe it's not a bios issue after all? I got fed up with adding a feature and then rebooting so I gave up after 3 and then just fixed everything.

Sorry I couldn't give any screenshots since I don't have an optical drive but I would appreciate it if someone did.

Beta's of what.. We are direct AMD partners.. There is a reason we maintain our own driver sets for our customers

 

You should try to lower the setting to see if you get better fps, most of time ultra or low we get the same fps, pretty lame.

mythlogic, pardon my scepticism but can you post a video showing those GPU utilization figures? its just that myself and many other members have tried everything possible, including complete re-formats where we install only stock drivers without any other software and the result is always the same.
Can you play 5 mins of Crysis 2 and 5 mins of BF3 multiplayer?

 

Mythlogic - Dirt 3 suffers from major GPU under utilisation.

Run the benchmark and check utilisation history and frame rates.

 

Sure, I can't make videos, don't have the ability nor willpower at 330A

However, here are two utilization graphs, from both Crysis 2 AND BF3 with every option known to man on, and at 1920x1080 of course. BF3 was all 64 player maps, metro was its normal cluster of a firefight it normally is do lots of explosions really didn't impact frames all too much.

 

Right now how can anyone say that that BF3 utilisation is as it should be? It touches 100% utilisation for a few seconds. The average looks to be around 80% if that. Same with Metro. That cannot be correct.

 

I think 80% is acceptable for now. If it runs constanly between 40 and 50 on Ultra, i can live with that for now. Another story is if the utilization is at 50% like with me on NFS the Run for instance. give enduro some time.

If I had 40fps I would not complain. Problem is it quite often hits 20ish fps, and judging by mythlogic's graph he has the same issue where his utilization is all over the place.

Weird think is that when you lower settings maybe to low in bf3 , you will get the same fps , and utilization form 30-60%. this need's to be repared somehow as sson as possible.

Fn + Esc works but nothing happen when I press Fn +1. I also checked the manual that came with the pc and on the cd and no Fn+1 is mentioned in there
