Hey guys, windows doesn't want to boot when an external hard drive is connected; I can plug the hard drive in after boot but it is only recognized when plugged in with USB, eSATA gives me no response. Any ideas ?

Not sure about the USB / eSATA thing other than are you sure your external hdd supports eSATA? But for booting check your boot order, make sure that your external hard disk is below you internal hard disk.

Booting properly now, thanks :). The drive is a Western Digital My Book Home Edition, it is advertised to work with eSATA. I'll just open a thread in the Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades section sometime tomorrow if I can't dig something up, I can wait for answers :p.

the memory leak is just a problem with the fingerprint drivers where they would start to use insane amounts of ram. Just downloading/installing the newest version of the software/drivers will fix it.

the m865 is just going to be a different colour or something small like that, there is no point waiting for it.

I don't know what pctorque is like having never used them

Taking it that you have the latest driver set for the WiFi card. If not, try to update first. Otherwise completely uninstall the driver then re-install.

Then I'd try rolling-back the driver. It's all kind of a mix-and-match game. And it's worked fine for me on my other laptop when it's had problems.

Try to check under "Speed" in the Status window of the connection if it has dropped. Mine used to do that. I disabled all N-network related things and it stopped.

But what if you have a Wireless N router, won't that be selling yourself short?

My 8800m Gtx just arrived at work, but with the problems i had last night im installing the windows xp from scratch first, without putting the new vga. . I was trying to fix the sound distortion and every time i rebooted, the windows got slow as hell and the sound was all over the place......this was a sure thing after installing any sound driver, the second reboot after the installation seemed fine. But i think i will try to install from scratch to see if this stuttered thing comes back......

If you have a N router, then everything should be fine :) Maybe there's something else I didn't take in consideration but it's been working fine for me, when its about the speed drop to 10 or 1 Mbps

Tried looking thought this thread but can't find the information I'm after..

Can the bluetooth be enabled on boot automatically and the webcam disabled?

Also how do I disable the N mode on my WiFi? Been having some speed issues and was told to disable the N because it might improve it.

Yes a lot of people have reported this, try turning on the bluetooth (fn + f12) as a temporary solution, i believe that a recent BIOS update might have solved that but i can't confirm this. Personally i don't get this sound

I've started to get that noise too. The bluetooth seems to fix the problem but otherwise, some users report that the BIOS update doesn't help.

i've come to learn to live with the buzz. It sucks but everything else is soo awesome with this laptop that a little buzz is "acceptable", even though it really isn't....

Have you run a diagnostic on your hard drive to make sure that it's still within spec?
