All of our shipments require a signature, however - if it was delivered today... they might have left it because - otherwise - you wouldn't have been able to receive it until after Christmas... since the next delivery attempt would be on Monday.

First post here from my new laptop :)

First impression: I fall in love with this machine

I almost did not do anything yet except partitioning the hard drive (I ordered with no OS), I am using Ubuntu now which is completely installed on a 16GB USB flash.

What really impressed me is that everything worked out-of-the-box in Ubuntu without installing/upgrading any drivers. Highest screen resolution was automatically detected (1920 × 1080), sound, network card and Bluetooth worked like a charm.

I will install windows now and everything will follow ... :)

Smooth sailing for me also. I hit a snag installing Windows 7 when it said that I needed to install the drivers for the optical drive, but I ejected the disc a couple of times and was eventually able to click "next" and the install went through. I'll write up a review and my experience reapplying my own thermal paste on my next day off. I've got my stock benchmarking done. I haven't found any dead or stuck pixels.

My First unhappy post here : http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...uring-black-friday-offers-13.html#post8174997

Shipped 21st (the day i needed it really), arrived the 23rd. A medical emergency pulled us from our cabin back to town, and boy was i excited to get to my laptop early. BUT...

Laptop GPU is DOA or close to. I got to install windows and all the drivers, ATI drivers being last.

Restarted upon install of the ATI drivers, and after windows loading animation, I got just a black blank screen.

Reinstalled windows 7 three times, tried the GPU drivers on CD, 11.11 from ATI website and 11.12 from the website. Nothing. Only way i can view the desktop is with NO GPU drivers, and im guessing thats just using the onboard chipset whatever that may be.

Downloaded GPU-Z, immediately 2-3 errors popped up and the program refused to run.

Indeed after the last Windows install; going into safemode then doing a System Recovery to before the ATI driver installation has now apparently bricked the entire laptop. Nothing is displayed on screen when booting up now, no BIOS nothing.

So...to try and get a refund, wait for the Ivy laptops, or RMA and wait even more....these are now the questions.

    Oh and Merry Christmas

    Unhappy poster here as well...

What GPU are you running? I'm running dual 6990m's and I'm in a similar boat. I didn't brick my machine yet with drivers but it isn't working near what it should, but mine is a driver problem and a dead HDD in mine... I'm far from happy as you can tell...

All i can think is the build were super rushed. And seems they are closed today. No response on phone calls, live chat offline. But ticket submitted, so we'll see.

Slight update, plugging in a DVI external monitor worked fine, did another system restore, and now the bios shows fine upon booting for the laptops monitor.

Still cannot get ATI drivers installed though. Always a blank screen upon reboot, after windows loading animation.

Anyways, super fast response from Malibal support, promising an overnighted replacement. Cant ask for more than that, so content for now :)

    Cheers!

Dr Atomic - Tough luck on your new laptop's display. But it's good that you are receiving top-notch service from Malibal even a day before Christmas. That's what real support is all about - quick and timely.

I'm glad that I haven't had any major issue with my new P170HM from Malibal that I just received last Wednesday. I had a bit of a scare last night when testing HDMI out. I couldn't get it working with my Samsung 1080p, 120Hz LCD TV. I thought the laptops HDMI hardware was faulty but when I used another HDMI connector it worked withou any fuzz, much to my relief.

The only issue I'm having is the Win 7 Pro update that is failing but not in anyway related to the laptop itself. I've already researched it and found out that I only have to do is to break the updates in smaller chunks. folks reported that this it what they did and worked. Anyways, I hope the replacement won't have any issues.

Have a Merry Christmas to everybody!
