I am going to guess that means my order isn't even shipping. Which is frustrating, seeing as I ordered on the 1st of August and I have been in school for two weeks now. I understand the delay, but this wait...

Hi, if you notice in my previous post - I said these are the orders from this thread that are shipping... up until now you haven't posted in this thread - however, your order is also shipping out today. We tried for Saturday Delivery on your order as well, but it's not available in your area - so it's scheduled for delivery on the 6th. :)

I, for some reason I thought I had posted in here. I really wish Saturday delivery was available, because now I am stuck waiting until next weekend to get a laptop. That isn't your fault though.

I can't say I'm happy I had a 2 weeks vacation and now a 3 days weekend without my new laptop. I did expect something like that with the 6990m, so I don't blame you. That's the price of being on the bleeding edge of technology!

Also, thank you for being so forthcoming with information. Having a date is better than worrying and looking at my E-Mail and these forums every day.

What does each benchmark do? Which one tell me how hot I am running, and how do you measure fps and temperature while playing a game?

Ugh. Well, congrats to everybody else. I was hoping I would get shipped by today too, but there must have been a lot of orders backed up. I guess this means that with the weekend and Labor Day, the absolute earliest I could hope for my laptop to ship would be next Tuesday.

Oh, well, back to waiting. Maybe if I freeze myself time will go faster... :(

With vantage and under just the "performance" tab my result are:

    3Dmark score - P160S1
    GPU score - 13216
    CPU score - 45037

is that bad or good or average?

3DMark - stresses CPU/GPU most similarly to actual gaming. It's a bit more demanding than the average game though. The benchmark result is really just good for comparing to others as a way to average your hardware results

Furmark - stresses mainly the CPU (Same with Prime95).

HWInfo/CPUz - good tools for monitoring temps and clocks. (HWInfo will keep a min/max/average temp so you can check before/during/after gaming)

Fraps - in game FPS tool that will add an in-game display to your screen with current FPS.

    Check here for average benchmarks:

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

Was your 3Dmark score 16021? Or was that S supposed to be in there? (Makes a big difference if it's 160 :p)

Your GPU score and CPU score are about average though.

For 3Dmark, you just leave it at default settings to compare to everyone else. If you change the defaults, it's best to note it with your benchmarks because otherwise they'll look too low/high. The free version doesn't give you much to change though.

With everything full max out on the vantage benchmark my score is as follow:

3Dmark score - 0 (umm is this wrong)?
    GPU score - 9778
    CPU score - 45429

I worry because the other benchmark lag and has an average fps of 6, should I worry?

Nope, this is the reason people don't run 3Dmark at full settings. It'll cripple pretty much any machine. Average FPS of 6 is basically nothing. If your stock 3DMark Vantage score is around the average (and it is) and you aren't having any temperature problems, then it's not worth worrying about.

Yup, got my tracking number today! :D

A shame that Labor Day means my laptop arrives at my place on Tuesday, which is a day before I go back to classes, so I get one day to set everything up... :| That's alright though, I don't mind.

What temperature am I actually looking for using HWmonitor? The CPU or the GPU temperature?

How do you measure it while gaming when your game is full screen?

Lastly, how do you get fraps?

I got 64c after playing Supreme Commander. At idle my temperature is 43c for the GPU.

    - Either/Or- your choice here. It keeps track of both, so you can have them as needed :)

How do you measure it while gaming when your game is full screen?

    - You'll have to tab out and check, or just let it record its min/max/average and see what they come out to when you're done gaming.

Lastly, how do you get fraps?

-Download and install it, just google for it and you can't miss it. It'll have options to display the FPS in the corner of the window when playing. It can also be used to benchmark for a time period you determine with hotkeys, recording min/max/average FPS.

I got 64c after playing Supreme Commander. At idle my temperature is 43c for the GPU.

    - That looks like great temps. I wouldn't be worried then. 90+ is the danger zone. Anything below 70-80 is quite cool.

Mine has shipped, but I don't know if UPS will deliver it tomorrow. I'm slightly worried, since the shipping address is a business address that is closed during weekends. It's a Kinek.com warehouse, to be exact. I may have to travel there at the same time as UPS to receive it myself. Otherwise I'll have to wait for tuesday to pick it up :(

I'm thinking of getting the 6990m for those who have it. Do you suggest it? Would it be lots better than the 6970m?

I received my tracking number on Friday and the laptop's now sitting in the Secaucus branch of UPS with the delivery date showing as Tuesday. They're actually going to let it sit there when it's only 20 min away by car. Monday's a holiday, Labor Day, where's the rage face emote?

Are the P150HM's shipping with the latest bios or will they require an update?

The 6990 is on average, 16% faster than the 6970. It's a slight increase- as was the 485m to 580m upgrade.

It should have the newest bios (version 1.01.12 I believe). If not, you can go to this thread to get the files needed to update it:
