Mythlogic,
Did you ever complete that time lapse video you talked about earlier in this thread? I looked for it but couldn't find it and am interested in watching it if you made it. -
We shot most of the video but we didn't have the opportunity to edit it down as we lost our video editing machine. We are working on getting it back up and running so that we cna edit and make more footage =)
thanks -
If I could get a 6% discount to pay for Michigan tax I'd probably buy from mythlogic.

i like mythlogic's 3 yr non warranty(accidental) insurance(besides the standard 3 yr plan parts/labor)

J/k
I'll wait patiently for the video. -
Sorry to crash the party, but wasnt an entire section created for reseller rating heh...
But to not be a downer and to add to the conversation Really in both cases many great things have been said about both companies, and to really get a first hand experience of how either of them are simply look at the compliments they received on the reseller rating section, its first hand testimonies that have gotten hooked on there products and perhaps you. -

I'm wondering, do the LCD manufacturers go by this same defect policy when they ship them to you? That seems like an unfair policy from the LCD manufacturers, and it sucks that it affects not only you as their customers, but us as yours. If I bought a brand new computer/lcd/display, no matter who or where it was from, I'd be pissed to find a dead/stuck pixel being how OCD I am.
I'd expect that to be one of the major things checked for, testing with solid colors to pixel check, being how simple of a test it is. -
Most LCD's have 3-5 dead or stuck pixels as "acceptable" from a quality standpoint. I find this horrible but it likely is to keep costs down. Just seems there'd be an automated way to test for dead or stuck pixels but apparently not. $60 isn't cheap, but it's also not horrible. Also keep in mind that you have 30 days to return the laptop no questions asked except you pay return shipping. So if you didn't want to shell out the $60 up front, it would cost you $25-30 for return shipping and then have to get in line to order a whole new laptop.

I assume your job's going very well?
I'm looking forward to your reviews on the NP9150 as well, do keep us in the light. -
So far so good, clearly a little extra fun money, lol. My 9150 should be here tomorrow.
Holiday day from work today and took vacation tomorrow, spent all day and probably most of tomorrow having fun with kids then it's all business (and pleasure) with the Missus 9150 aka "Prometheus".
If she performs as well as I expect this one will be a keeper for a while. Trying to hold on to a laptop for two years if I can, lol. -
I'm the same way as you. I have bad OCD and dead pixels do bother me, but I have come to accept that this is how custom laptops can be. On top of that, we can both order the exact same specs from the exact same builder and it still wouldn't be identical. One might have an AOU stock display or Chimei or Hanns.G. To me, as long as there are 4 or less dead pixels, are not clustered together, and not in my reading area, I can kind of block that out from my mind. It takes effort, but so far I've managed.
I've already replaced my original screen because it had 6-8 dead pixels clustered together right in the upper right hand area, where I begin to read anything. Malibal has replaced it with a screen that has 3-4 dead pixels but all at the edges. The only problem is that this screen is waaaaaaay too dim. Keep in mind that I didn't buy the dead pixel warranty and that this new screen can not be replaced since it's not considered defective (less than 6), but because the screen is too dim, I'm pretty much stuck with either going back to the first screen or keeping this one.
Luckily for me, I bought from Malibal. They told me no boutique would replace this screen and neither would they. After a few back and forth emails later (more of them making me understand the policies and me getting offended by the "just return the laptop for a full refund" which is the standard policy if I'm unhappy --I also didn't know this), they said, "You know what, keep one screen, return the other. When we get it back tell us what screen you want and we'll send you that one." Not exactly word for word, but something like that. I said I'll take the matte stock (non-high-gamut) and pay the difference along with the dead pixel warranty.
I'm one lucky, happy Malibal customer.
I don't mean to scare of any potential buyer, but this is how most if not all builders are. I didn't buy the perfect pixel warranty at first because I never had to deal with one and I was confident screens with dead pixels are rare. This was our thought over at the Malibal forums. Almost no one bought that warranty. Now that I know better, I highly suggest people buy it. The beauty of it is you get a perfect screen without a single dead/hot/stuck pixel. After a month and a half, the chances of the screen showing defects is slim to none. If it does show dead pixels, it has to be more than six before they'll replace it. But you can at least have some relief to know that the chances of that are very low. -
After unsatisfactory dealings with xoticpc, my clevo 150em is currently on order with mythlogic. i feel really good and very optimistic with my choice in clevo supplier and i immediately noticed the difference in general staffing. i really really appreciate the speed and quality of responses when i try to obtain info. very professional.
i'll be posting a detailed review on my entire experience as there doesn't seem to be many. if you have the little bit extra to spend on mythlogic, soo far, i would highly recommend them. it seems a bit unfair to compare myth to xotic and malibal though as they are different animals. -
Uh, no. That is just further confirmation to me that Malibal is not a builder and a Eurocom reseller. Mythologic does provide their own warranty. So Malibal must not be a biulder as they claim as their warranty is dictated by Eurocom.

As a reseller all I can say is we are beholden to the warranties given to us by the manufacturer. We do not buy the LCD screen directly from the ODM we buy them from the supplier that we resell the laptops from. From experience we do know that MYTHLOGIC actually orders their own screens and tests them in house. We have bought from them before.

So finally after several days of checking out Malibal, Mythlogic, Sager, Pro-Star, rjtech, etc. I ended up going with XOTICPC. Their customer service was very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. I didn't feel rushed to get all my questions out and felt welcome to come back and ask more, even though I spent over an hour asking questions and clarifying things, maybe over 3 hours in total on and off with the same representative, very nice, no generic answers here. The representative (Hutsady) even went out of his way to measure the keyboard and screen dimensions for me, so I could order a privacy filter and keyboard cover ahead of time.
XOTICPC is based in Nebraska, while my Sager notebook, not needing many upgrades, pretty much just branding removal and a 7970m, will be shipped directly from Sager in California, haha best of all worlds, quicker (free) shipping, no tax, best price after price matching and very smilar pricing before price match to all other places, and great customer service (they can answer all your questions) with live chat that is very personal to you, no generic responses, or I guess/think.
I was able to get a $50 NBR member discount and they matched the $60 Pro-Star discount by giving me another $10 off
I read that Sager and XOTICPC do a good job testing the products before shipping them, so hopefully the rest of the process goes well.
