They are actually really close if you want to get all those extra stuff. Here is a comparison of P150HM from XoticPC and Mythlogic both loaded with similar upgrades. However some people might not need some of those features and would rather save money. That doesn't mean it's a bad deal though.

    XoticPC $2012:

    Mythlogic $2029:

"I look up your case and your laptop is already shipped back to you with a new card in it." This is what they replied me. I did get a warranty replacement for the card. I should have found this forum earlier, so I might get a brand new replacement. I just don't feel right and happy buying something so expensive and new and ended up being repaired :(...

They said the card they sent was new, so it wasn't repaired.

I think he meant that he bought something expensive and brand new but had to get it repaired/replaced with new parts instead of just working as is.

Yea mtrein, I agree with you. I guess I should not use the word "repair" . Malibal replied my email with something like you said, they managed to convince me that I am still having a brand new laptop. So I should be happy with that. :) cheers, thumbs up for Malibal, for servicing my laptop in such a short period of time. Too bad I live too far from the service centre, it takes almost 2 weeks to and fro for my laptop to be delivered.

yeah, the downside is sending in your laptop and waiting. Assuming Malibal allows it (I know Mythlogic usually does), I'd opt for them to send the replacement part and do the repair myself. Bit quicker of a turn around assuming you don't botch the job yourself :p

Can a Malibal rep answer whether or not they allow just sending the replacement part and letting their customers repair it themselves? The reason I'm asking is because my girlfriend once sent her HP to be repaired and it game back with a scratch across the laptop cover..kind of made me hesistant to ship out a laptop I would spend a lot of money on if it comes back like that.

Yes, you can send in just the part, and we'll send out a replacement that you can install yourself.

How does Malibal know whether the part we asked for is really spoiled? I am asking this question because people might ask for replacement just to get a new item. Do we have to send the old part back to Malibal?

you have to go through troubleshooting with them to determine the part is bad.. Otherwise they'd be losing money by replacing whatever people ask for..

And you have to send the defective one back.

Observation as I am prepping to get a new DTR class notebook is that the premium models are fairly close in price (~$150).

Atm though, Mythlogic's Nyx 7212 has an edge with 32gb RAM vs 24GB in MALIBAL's Nine X7200. The processors are also slightly different, i7-3930 LGA2011 vs i7-980 LGA1366. Very similar stats (cache, speed) but I believe the LGA2011 is a newer line & higher featured CPU (still researching particulars as I don't follow things day to day, but running up to purchase time).

Former Sager owner, and no complaints with them, just that they don't have their Clevo 270 model (NP9270)configurator up running yet. One of their resellers does, it is closer to the Mythlogic model, but in this case Myth's is cheaper than the Sager reseller by around $150. I intend to investigate well before laying out $4000+ on a new machine so I'll give these guys a chance on the sale. But its hard to beat Sager IMO, they've been excellent for the 8 years my brother & I have owned their laptops.

Its kind of like debating Ford, GM & Chrysler, though we aren't talking Mustang vs Camaro vs Challenger but more like the differeing companies versions of a Lotus model they all copy (ie, Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice, Opel Gt, Vauxhall VX220, Daewoo G2X are all related derivatives of the Lotus Elise - as well as the Tesla Roadster being derived from the same car though with more re-engineering).

We build our machines ourselves from Clevo shells directly, we purchase our own parts, we do all our own assembly and testing, in addition all warranty work is performed by us. Everything is done out of our Ann Arbor, MI location.

Xotic PC and Powernotebooks are Sager resellers so when you order a computer from us we get it from Sager. They do the build and ship directly to you but we add things like better warranty and tech support compared to buying directly through Sager. We also offer things Sager doesn't directly like the Redline boost or Custom skin.

Who do you buy your shells from Myth, if I may be so bold? I've heard that you don't buy them direct from Clevo, so who's your hook-up?

We buy from a lot of different importers, all over the world, just depends on price and availability. So we don't really have the single hookup. That's how we are able to have things longer etc, as we can just buy it from a different importer around the world.

Maybe I am making a mistake, but I'm seeing a price difference of about $200 bucks between Malibal and Myth on the exact same spec P9150EM/NP9150.

I was leaning toward myth...but that is alot to overcome

Same here. No matter what config, it seems it always goes about $200 up on Mythlogic.
Probably all the extra testing and such.

I think it really depends on your config. The base price for Myth is higher than other resellers, but it's cheaper to add a lot of options. For instance, to upgrade from a 2670 to a 2760 is roughly $50 with Myth versus roughly $150 somewhere else.

I ended up going with Mythlogic because the price difference for my build was negligible, and I liked their testing protocol, upgrade plan and what I felt was great customer service. YMMV

apples for apples folks, make sure the warranty, OS, and other things match before you make that assumption/statement. Some of the builders don't play the "lowest price" config game just to draw you in. When we get the new models up, we probably won't do that either. Price is always a factor but again don't get drawn in by typical marketing tricks.

Remember to check a couple things.
Myth adds windows OS to the option while the others don't. If you don't want windows, there's an option to remove it. (Scroll down)

That and Ic thermal compound (which is a must for gaming laptops) is +35 anywhere else.

Yeah, I was going to buy the p150HM from Mythlogic but as soon as I compared the price between them and XoticPC and Malibal, I held on to my money.

I'm thinking about buying the P150EM from Xotic or Malibal. I still can't decide between the two.

MALIBAL are not Sager resellers as they sell laptops built to their specifications starting from Clevo chassis.

Also like mythlogic, you can order spare parts from them if you can fix the laptop yourself. (though I suggest looking around as much as possible before ordering) :).

Anyway, if you're looking for a custom built laptop for under $1k, go with MALIBAL. If you're going to spend $1.8k or more, go with mythlogic.

The Phoenix plan does interest me quite a bit. It would seem to allow me to get a decent (not overpowered) machine now and just upgrade down the line if the components still fit. Has anyone from here used it and what was the pricing on upgrades?

Well I was going to buy from Malibal, but was just harassed through email by their customer service rep.

I placed an order that was different from what I've decided to get, so i asked for the order to be cancelled and submitted a new order. I didn't want to take the chance that I ask a rep to change something on the order and he doesn't or forgets, so I figured it was easier to just submit a whole new order and avoid confusion

When I received my reply, it came in the form of 4 different emails, all spaced between 2-5 minutes apart, in large font and caps about how I shouldn't cancel my order, and how i shouldn't have placed an order in the first place.

I hope whatever pain I caused through asking for a order to be cancelled is worth me taking my business to Mythlogic or Xotic.

Let me take a moment to show everyone why you should always be skeptical of what you read on the internet, because people so very often lie and/or exaggerate. There were 3 emails sent not 4. The emails were sent in a normal size font not a large font. Out of the 3 emails, two words were capitalized not every word in every email as this post implies... and we never said he shouldn't have placed an order. He wanted to do a pre-order for IVB and we told him to just wait until those CPUs were released before placing a new order.

4 emails total, the first of the four was the confirmation of the ticket, pardon my mistake.

My yahoo inbox reads them as size 18 font, that is NOT normal size. And 3 separate emails explaining my mistakes in scolding tone is RIDICULOUS from someone who is trying to get my business. See only two capital words there, but man does it make a difference in the tone of the message huh?

Would be one thing if it was one email, but three separate emails all in frustrated tone all because I wanted to cancel my order? Or maybe it was a frustrated tone because I wanted to pre-order the 150EM-SE with Ivy Bridge because YOUR LIVE CHAT REP SAID I COULD? Yeah, I'll take my business elsewhere. If you had handled this correctly, I would still be purchasing from you and probably singing your praises on this forum.

The emails were sent in the same font size that we use on every email. Also, the emails literally said: you don't need to place new orders to make changes, you can just tell us the changes and we can update your order. The next email said: you are waiting for IVB, so just wait for those CPUs to be released before placing a new order. The third email was to notify you that you had no pending orders and to reiterate that you should wait until IVB came out before placing a new order.

Well the first message is significantly smaller than the other 3, do you need screenshot proof? Message tone and communication is just as important as the content itself. No salutation on a message, followed by two subsequent emails with different fonts and a harsh tone, from a customer service rep? In the business world this is considered rude and informal. The point is the 3 emails communicated annoyance with a potential customer, whether you intended it to or not.

Hi, we only sell part upgrades to our customers, so if you own one of our notebooks - then yes - you can purchase any available upgrades through our site. In terms of pricing, there is very little markup on parts - it's more of a service to our customers than a means for making money.

Will Malibal or Mythlogic fulfill requests for parts not listed in their configuration pages? I've found SSD's that I prefer over the listed ones but having the reseller install them is another thing I don't have to deal with.

As soon as we have a good set of dates for shipping (due to delays etc) then we tell our customers and put it on our website =). But as we don't have a firm date we don't want to just guess.

Yea of course, we totally understand there are 10000's more parts for these things, but we can't list them all. If you want a specific brand/model of ANY part just email us and we can put it together for you custom. We get that request all the time, and are more than happy to accommodate.

A little off topic but since upgrading is being mentioned.
How easy are the Clevo laptops to upgrade? Say a CPU or GPU?

A had an old Toshiba laptop a while ago that I tried to open just for practice and it was a nightmare getting to anything other than the ram. I had to break some parts just to get inside.

I've built and changed parts on desktop computers before.
But it seems to me that laptops are not user upgradable or at least not user friendly.

Does anyone still do cross-shipping these days?

Clevo machines are a breeze to update. Pop the bottom cover off remove heatsink and bam you're at the CPU socket. Fantastically designed, or the two I've owned anyway.

slightly off topic but pertaining the P270WM is it true that it has been delayed indefinitely??
I've seen from this UK forum them saying so after having 50% of the laptops fail with a 675 SLI Clevo's taken it "back to the draeing board" for a redesign. here's the link to the pcspecialist thread if anyone wants to read up.
    Link to article

I sincerely hope this isn't the case for this laptop as I've waited over a year for a DTR and it seems to be for even longer now. :(

No it is not cancelled...Chinese Retailer Terrans Force was told from Clevo factory that it is only temporarily on hold and manufacturing process is scheduled to resume towards end of May.

Does MALIBAL build their own machines or are builds completely out of their hands?

EDIT: By out of their hands I mean once an order is made they cannot modify or see the status of the order.

Ahh thanks for the response. People were very adamant that you weren't importers, and I knew you don't just rebadge Sagers, so I was a bit confused.

VERY easy to upgrade and get inside to work on. Every important and commonly swappable/upgradeable component is easy to access. At least on the upper end models. I honestly can't say much about the 11-inch model and ease of access on those.
