I had long lost hope of overvolting this card in the P150EM, and haven't checked these forums in a while, but it sounds like it's actually possible now? Has there been any luck with modded VBIOS? Is there anywhere with instructions on how to mod it, or anywhere I can find modded VBIOS? This is awesome if it is in fact finally possible.

last i heard, ull need the most current version of ati winflash to read/write the vbios on the em series? once u got that, u can always contact svl7 over at the techinferno forums, maybe drop a lil donation for a beer and let him modify the vbios to up the voltage ;)

haha well that doesnt surprise me, hes always high in demand, especially now with the 780m being out ;)

u guys should contact meaker, iirc he had a modded 7970m vbios for the em series, but at that time it wasnt possible yet to flash it (at least not for regular EM users, he himself just used his good ol acer to read/write the vbios of his 7970m at that time :D)

So you can use it on both the p150em and p170em then? Do you know if xtu still works with this bios, will i still be able to overclock my 3720qm with it?

    jaybee83 , before was 930-1375 stable ! wth 1.1v I can go 980 - 1450 , but I like be on safe side so I stay on 950 - 1420 :p

Attention  users with P150EM 7970m vbios date August 2012 got problems with this modded vbios (like BSODS on reboot and functionality 7970m)
My stock vbios was older , so I dont have any problems!

Although on Tech Inferno I can only find the old Dell 7970M vbios pack. Is that what you're talking about, or is there a thread I'm missing?

I have a stock VBIOS for 7970M from my P170EM (should be the same as for P150EM). Mind you, my card runs at 0.975V at stock (it overclocks nicely though, to 950/1400, possibly more, but I haven't tried it).

Warning to anybody looking to flash the VBIOS previously posted. Coca gave a warning about not flashing it if your VBIOS date is Dec 2012. I ran into issues with an Aug 2012 date.

How you solved the problem with the vbios from August 2012?
When flashing vbios forgot to save the stock. Now I can not find this vbios

mate 950 - 1400 awesome and this is safe clocks ! 75-80c is normal temp for 7970m , also keep in mind soon we will get AMD Mantle update for Battlefield 4 and this means + 20% (minimum) to performance :)

While agree I'm excited to see Mantle - I still find it hard to believe we are giong to see a 20% increase across the board. Dont get me wrong I'd be stoked to take my nearly full ultra playing to over 70 FPS from the 58 its at now, but I just dont see it happening for some reason. I'm sure there will be instances that will provide a 20% return, but I think either they are overly optimistic or people have mislead themselves through the grape vine.

Time will tell. Aren't they supposed to go live with this in BF4 in December I thought I had heard? Not 100% on that as its just something I thought I had read. I haven't been keeping up on it.

You dont need to flash vbios, just go with this OC using Afterburner and all will be fine, keep on mind overvolting = reduce life of your GPU , but just OC if your temps stays near 80c is safe for years. Based on personal experience : 6990m was OCed 2 years , 480m and 580m was oced almost 2 years and all was well, these cards are still working with people whom I sold this laptops. The most important thing - to monitor the temperature and time to time change your thermal paste.

Mantle update for Battlefield 4 will be realesed in late December!

Sorry my english is not so good :p
