I just updated the with GPU monitor version to have hopefully fixed that keyboard bug. I figured out it may have been an issue with the threading. So far I haven't noticed any issues with it, but it would be great if you would update and tell me if you have any more issues. I also changed the update rate to once every second instead of every two seconds, I'm not sure if that will get annoying or not.

    Hey pizza,

I´ve got a problem with the latest two versions. I´ve started your program with the task scheduler (highest prio + 30 sek after boot and so on).
The program starts and work absolutly fine but if I open and try to change the exit colors i´ve got an error message. Please look at the attachment.

    error.JPG open.JPG

Its not a big thing for me because it work :) just for info.

That's because you don't have any values in the left center right fields.

When I open the minimized (and autostarted) program the 3 fields are empty. When I type any value into one (or all) of these fields, I get the error message. And I can´t close the program without error message.

    Any ideas?

    VG,

Looking at the code it seems like it shouldn't have any issues like that. What model laptop do you have? As we have been working on the other software to replace this one and hotkey we noticed that the newer and older models behave a bit differently. I don't know how big of deal it is to you but maybe you could hold out until the new software is finished.

pizzadude, your updated software seems to still have issues with keyboard missing letters.

I'm sorry, I just redownloaded that copy and still can't seem to replicate the issue. I definitely know how frustrating that is though. I'm not sure how long until Kostas and I release beta of the new one, but there is some discussion of that going on over at tech inferno. That version does things differently which should hopefully solve some of the bugs, and it has graphics for everything so no more doing number input. I just wrote some code today that does keyboard lighting based off of sound which looks pretty cool when playing music so there's that to look forward too. Like I said sorry the issue isn't fixed, we'll see what happens with the next release.

    Pizzadude:

Is the code for this sharable anywhere? I'd like to add support for a 9370, with two gpus..

    Thanks..

I'm not sure if we are going to share the code or not, but as of now it isn't publicly available. Don't worry though, the next version does have dual GPU support.

First - thanks for this awesome piece of software pizzadude. Its a great way to take a piece of fluff design and turn it into something useful.

I have been having a similar problem to what HTWingnut experienced with the CPU side not tracking. I attempted to run the program as admin but it doesn't seem to change anything. I am running windows 8 on a P8250. The gpu side tracks fine and exit colors are fine. Is there a special folder it needs to be run from? I attempted to set up a task for it but it never would start. I made sure I gave it full rights etc and delayed the start for 30s. Any feedback or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks for your time.

This was designed for Ivy Bridge. I was just testing for Haswell CPU's and confirmed it doesn't work. They are working on a Haswell version too.

We are shooting to release the beta of the new version this week sometime. It looks completely different and replaces the standard program that you use when you press fn + /. As of now we do not have Haswell support but have been looking into it off and on. Here's a quick preview of what is coming ;) screenshots.jpg

I have only one gripe and this is probably beyond the scope of the project--by monitoring GPU temperature of the dedicated card, it turns on and drains battery :(

First - thanks for working on this app. I love the functionality it provides with respect to temperature and gpu utilization. So here is my feedback and items that I noticed:

    1. During the first wave of the keyboard modification app, pizzadude had a function that would change the center color of the keyboard based on whether the igp or gpu was operating. This was nice vs the gpu utilization feature but this is a small thing.
    2. On the utilization feature, it would be nice if the gpu is at 0% the color was something other than black. Having some back light is better than none.
    3. On occasion in Win 8, the minimize function would not minimize to tray but to a small rectangle (title only) in the lower left hand corner. Not reliably reproducable.. I am working on seeing what conditions would cause this.
    4. A big one for myself - Haswell support for IGP and CPU temp polling.
    5. Polling would cause 3dmark 11 to crash on an unspecified error with stock Sager Nvidia drivers 311.27. This happened about 30 - 40% of the time with no specific conditions besides both programs running. - this issue was resolved with the new WHQL drivers just released.
    6. Is it possible to open the configuration screen in a window vice going full screen or is that pretty much hardcoded with the hotkey app? Just curious.
    7. If possible, could the app be set up to automatically disable polling with an "exit" color choice when the laptop is removed to battery and then resume when plugged in? Might be difficult to program that all in and the return might not be worth it. i.e - if going on battery - shut the program down lazy person :) **EDIT: Just read post above me... was NOT an attack on you LOL ***

Most of the above are minor things. I think the Haswell detection is the biggest thing I noted. It cuts the functionality pretty much by 2/3rds for those with the newer models. I want to reiterate this is an awesome start and I appreciate this a lot. Thanks again for this app and for your time!

pizzadude, is there any way you can upload the beta to where you have uploaded temperature keyboard to? That link you had us go to get the beta is another forum that require signing in which needed to create an account and afterward still need to have 5 posts before you can download the file. The posts won't be posted until moderator approves it. It's a big hassle just to get a files. Appreciate your work but this is quite pain in the just to get to it. It seems like none of the hardware monitor actually can detects my P170's dGPU temperatures other than your led changing keyboard. Is there way you can include the actual temperature in the config window?

Thank you for putting up the site. As someone else mentioned in previous post, pizzadude's temperature keyboard needed to run as administrator in order for CPU side of tracking to work. It seems to have same issue with this new version. I got around it with task scheduler so that it loads the LEDKB.exe at login with highest privilege which it seems to do the trick. Just wondering if that can be fixed so we don't need the use of task scheduler.

New version is out. This time it includes an installer so it should reduce some hassle and it can install the LightFX library too if you choose to have it do so. We would like some feedback on the installer and how it works for you, but general feedback and suggestions for the program are also welcome.

    changelog:
    0.0.5.6: 12/9/13
-bugfixes crash during startup on some systems
    -better exception catching
    -better SM series compatibility
-better tray temperature handling(for those who were experiencing hangs in temperature mode after running the app for some time)
    -better powersavings behaviour
    -added installer
-Also in this version you don't need to close ledkb in order for LightFX to work.
When ledkb is running, it detects whether LightFX is in use. If it is, it "pauses" ledkb until LightFX is finished (i.e. you exit the game) and then resumes.

    0.0.5.6 installer runs ok.

LEDKB opens fine now, the last version crashed as soon as I opened it.

It doesn't detect CPU temp, even if I open it as Admin.

    I have P370SM3 running Windows 7 SP1 x64.

Had more response from this version, altough the only temperature it reads as of now is the cpu. Neither GPU1 or GPU2 give any readings, even when in admin mode.
Besides that great work and keep it going.

    I'm using a p170em with 7970m running Windows 8 X64

EDIT: Oh excuse me forgot that the dGPU only activates in applications you specify, so after that everything works perfectly nevermind and thank you for the great application :p.
