Indeed, gratz on the new lappy mate... I finally got the papers from customs yesterday... I'll be spending the better half of this morning deciphering them! lol

I wonder if they allow pickup ;)

Good 3DMark06 score! Mine has pretty much the same specs as yours (7950GTX + T7300 + 3GB RAM + 160GB 7200rpm hard drive) and I got 5344 in 3DMark06. After overclocking I got 5693... I guess your 200GB 7200rpm gave you the extra scores that mine didn't have?

It took the customs five working days from processing my documents to sending it out. Maybe you should call them and find out if they allow pickup or not, Scrampy. ;)

My lappy finally turned up yesterday with everything I ordered cept it had 32-bit Vista installed instead of 64-bit. Supplier is now couriering me a 64-bit installation disc however that means I now need to blast away 32-bit and do the whole install process myself (I hate doing things like that). And I was so planning on getting WoW loaded up and cranking by this weekend....

Proud new owner of my 5791, still doing the whole installation process will report back with opinion, and scores. Thanks XoticPC, customer service was excellent.

I ordered a 5790 (days before the 5791 came out); IIRC, the only difference is Intel Turbo Memory? (Wiki tells me "NAND flash memory modules, reducing the time it takes for a computer to power up, access programs, and write data to the hard drive." so sounds like thats a nice frill, but doesn't impact _runtime_ performance per se, so I dont' really care.)

So I didn't miss anything huge, right? :)

Badbeat -- you won't mind; the fan on mine is not noticable over any other machine, and its actually _quieter_ and cooler than my previous machine (I dont' get it either. The 17" chassis I think..)

Here it is... my laptop is sitting at the local post office. I was out on Saturday playing sports when it was attempted delivery. Now, who knew they did deliveries on saturdays the day after it was paid for at customs. Bah... my 4 day weekend ends on monday (the day I will be able to pick up my laptop - after 3pm mind you).

I had laptop dreams last night. :err:

Could someone please confirm that the 'matte' WSXGA screen is not overly grainy? The screen in Nettwerk's photo looks very respectable (esp. after gamma correction in PS ;)). I would value one or more experienced opinions before placing two orders. Thanks!

Yes, the latest version does. Sager has renamed it NP5791. You can get either Turbo memory or the TV Tuner...but not both.

I hope to receive mine on thursday.
After having to cancel (unexpected personal event and no foreign keyboards at Rock)and reorder (laptops4u.nl), and then JUST missing it by 1 day (I left on holiday the 13th and they attempted delivery the 14th :'( ), a new delivery attempt will be made this thursday.
    I can't wait ;)

Actually, maybe at most a $300 difference, with international shipping etc, so it wasn't that "much more expensive" . I had it salary sacrificed as well, so it kinda even out for me if not cheaper.

good thinking Gershom. Unfortunately salary sacraficed was not available for me at time of purchase. I would have done that for sure if it was. I wonder if the other extras would have also been available from an aust dealer.

I've very very happy with my clevo / sager. It's more than I expected actually. I expect delivery would have been much less and much faster if I'd ordered locally though. Never mind. I'm now the proud owner of a 5790 :)

Oh, and I dont think the Aust dealers had the 7950gtx did they?

    Last week I ordered:

    WUXGA
    T7500
    7950GTX
    2GB DDR2 667
    160GB 7200RPM

and I can't wait. I'm glad I went with the WUXGA. I was nervous about not being able to run games at native resolution, but it seems like the 7950GTX can handle it.

I hope Bioshock has as much creepy ambience as System Shock 2.

Yep mine has the 7950 GTX. Had a couple of minor problems with my order. There was a delay due to the 7950s being out of stock and as I wasn't in a hurry, I didn't mind waiting instead of taking the 8700. Also the wrong OS was installed which was a slight oversight amongst the millions of emails I was sending to p4laptops when specifically configuring the system. They more than made up for that by couriering to me the Vista HP 64-bit (32-bit was the incorrectly installed OS) and upgrading my bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo that I had also ordered from the MX5000 to the DiNovo Edge. I can't fault their customer service at all, it has been nothing less than excellent the whole time I've had dealings with them (all up probably about 30 emails backwards and forwards and never a hint of annoyed-ness at all my queries).

    Yes, ;)

Mine is an M570RU and haves 2 PCI-E x1 slots, one with the intel wireless card, and other free for using a robson module or hibrid tuner card(there a sticker on the slot saying that).

Besides on my BIOS is an option to enable the robson module. And I have an M570RU not M571RU.

has anyone tried overclocking the 7950GTX? if so using which program? ATITool, Rivatuner, Coolbits? somewhere i read that even if you overclock the gfx card it goes back to defaults because of a manufacturer tweak, is that true?

Personally I don't think my 7950GTX on the Sager NP5790 is hot at all (even when overclocking) although I do use a notebook cooler. The temperature readings I got from Riva Tuner says that there wasn't a big difference of temperature when overclocking or not. (although I'm not sure if it's reading the right temp or not... or is it for the cpu  maybe someone here can tell me) The "Core temperature" part keeps saying it runs at 44 degrees when I'm not doing anything and around 49 degrees when gaming with overclocking. Without overclocking it says 47...

Nice one leonstars... looks like you know what you're doing. :) nice rig.

The tv tuner is cool to have... I'm sitting in bed watching seinfield as we speak lol ;)

Oh, and the fingerprint reader is also very cool. using it for logging into sites is heaps convenient.

I've got my fav games loaded into daemon tools as iso's so I dont have to carry a bunch of disks around and I've got plenty of room for music etc too.

It's a fantastic machine and I've totally happy about my purchase.

There is no way your 7950GTX having 47ºC as a full temperature... no way, even an 8700M GT doesn´t do that...

Or you are living on north pole/Alaska? ;)

I know... but I have no idea what temperature that is. It only says "core temperature" so maybe it's the temperature of the cpu? But then again this is from the "Hardware monitoring" section of Riva Tuner which is suppose to monitor the gpu instead of the cpu. Now I'm just confused.

EDIT: Okay maybe it IS for the temp for the gpu. I followed Gophn's guide on monitoring gpu's temp using RivaTuner
    In his guide it says:

"Rule of thumb for mobile GPU core temps that I have noticed is:

Note: all of the following is assuming at room temp (no Air Conditioning on)
    At Idle (auto fan speed):
    59-60 C Degrees

At Idle (fan speed at max... Clevo notebooks have this function):
    48-52 C Degrees

(Temps at full load are varied on GPU type and notebook designs)

So OFFSET your GPU temp to get it near the Idle temps given.

The Main Point: is to know the limit of your GPU temp and to be aware if it gets beyond that point."

So I guess it is possible that my gpu is around that temp?

Mine rune cool all the time, and I poundered it with HL2 at maximum possible details (1600 res, 6xAA and so on) and still it feels in the WORST possible case, SLIGHTLY warm. Usually it's cold, and THAT IS AWESOME. Compared to my former nx9420 , this rig packs power and cold shower in a need shiny package ;)
Sager 5791 rules , no doubt about it. However, it seems the 7950GTX is getting old, tried to max out Bioshock, couldn`t play it decent, so I downgraded to 1024 and it runs ok now. Pretty wicked game, I`m glad my nx9420 was spared the torture of running this game.
The only final decision I have to make... Robson memory or tv tuner? ;) (btw, are they both internal on the pci slot or something?)

does your 1920x1200 screen have weird resolutions? i can't seem to find 1440x900 or 1680x1050 although it is a 16:10 screen.

is this normal or do i need to update driver or something?

also, powernotebooks delivered today, 4 days after ordering it, wow!!!!

Mine only has a WSXGA screen but I think if you can't find 1440x900 or other resolutions then you should update your gpu drivers. I'm using the newest 163.71 driver now and it's working nicely here. ;)

Where are you looking for the resolutions, in desktop properties? If so and you don't see those resolutions they try different drivers.
    Great service indeed!
Sounds like Sager hired an old IBM tech, lol.
