OK, in fairness to PCMW, I went back and refigured the pricing on two identical 9262 machines, and I came up with a different answer this time.
Powernotebooks came in at $2,372 (full price--no cash discount, no student discount, no instant rebates)
PcMicroworks came in at $2,296 which is the price after a $500 discount is applied.
I should note that it's not clear to me if they charge a different price for cash vs. credit--a cash price from Powernotebooks would have dropped its price to $2300.84, a scan $4.84 above PcMicroworks. I did not want to actually press the BUY button to find out if payment information changed by putting in a credit card.
I suspect I thought I changed the LCD screen on the PCMW page, but did not, which would explain the swing. Either way, my mistake.
So, therefore, PCMW does have a lower price on two identically configured shipping models.
Once again, if $4 is worth it to you to deal with a company that has repeatedly lied to you, then by all means get yourself a PCMW notebook.
As for deathwinger, sorry my friend, I am not smoking anything. I just tend to value a company's behavior more than I value a $4 discount.

We also include Toll Free 24/7 DOMESTIC Customer Service and 3 Years of labor warranty along with the Sager 1 Year Parts warranty.
Our customers find that to be worth more than $76 when coupled with the fact that we have been in business serving them faithfully for over 9 years, without lying about how long we have been in business, or what we are selling them or when we can deliver it.
You know, Xoticpc can say the same thing -

^ To each their own.
BTW, cheaper price against who?
-
boy you guys drop any more hints on the pricing and I'm going to plotz....
I for one was surprised at how low in price the m570 came in when it was first released...the way you guys are talking without actually disclosing anything sure makes it sound like we're in for another pleasant surprise -
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
That is a strong statement based on assumptions or what you think. One thing that most dont realize is that you may be getting big discounts but you are getting discounts on a hugely inflated price. Take a look at how pricing is set up now on models you are able to compare (9262, 5793 etc). Our pricing maybe a couple dollars higher, but you also get better service and support with both XOTIC PC and PowerNotebooks.

-
After my call with PCMW, I'm kinda leaning back to you guys again dispite the money difference. But I need to know, what is the 3 year labor warrenty, what does it cover?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
It covers any labor charges for out of warranty repairs in the 2nd and 3rd years. Sager will still do the repair, and you will pay for parts and shipping...but not labor.
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
The 3 Year Labor would cover any Labor Expenses for 3 years. (so you only pay the parts & shipping and you dont pay for any time of the technician for years 2 and 3)
Feel free to PM or email if you have any questions.
-
You have just agreed that they broke NDA before and suffered for it..... but they told us about it first....... hooooray..... -
Going back to my statement regarding price vs. service -
Nothing against the other resellers, I just want it to be clear that yes for some people it may benefit them to have someone to hold their hand with the laptop, but I am more concerned with overall cost to performance ratio.
And as far as specs are concerned I took my old Inspiron way beyond Dell's claimed limits and I have never had a computer that was more stable and run as cool as it , even with 2gb of ram more than was supposedly supported. So how concerned am I about PCMW claiming support for things that Clevo may not officially support at the time. No more than I was with my E1505. -
I just called and they gave me a free upgrade to the 320gb but the change does not appear in my order is it normal ???
-
Yeah, it took them a couple weeks to update the changes made to my order. I kept calling to confirm they were in their system, they were it just wasn't updated online.
-
Yup same here, mine hasn't been updated yet.
-
What I don't get is that you are putting your full faith in a company as far as price, when you know they have repeatedly lied to you.
What the heck ever happened to the value of integrity? -
if either donald or justin could just give me a smiley face or some invisitext, a pm with a smiley face even, so that i know that these "sale prices" will be the same or worse than what powernotebooks or xotic will offer normally, I'll hold off. I'm just looking at the checkout screen, and thinking, wow knock off another $100 for student discount, call them up and maybe do better, and im having a real hard time not pulling the trigger. please give me some assurance!

XoticPC and PowerNoteBooks have nothing to say. At all. -
aren't xoticPC and PNB selling 5796 already? since 5793 is completely sold out?
-
-
You'd better do yourself a favour and buy yourself a Sager or god help you...you shall not have a friend at all on this forum. no sir. -
It's just ridiculous to me that neither of them will offer some incentive to want to order from them. All they do is try to expose PCMW for the shady **** they're pulling and I can totally understand that but damn at least give us some peace of mind that the prices will be better or something so that we are comfortable in holding off a purchase from PCMW and saving it for one of them. -
Dude, just sit back and relax. We got it made. -

^ I couldn't have said it better myself. Pricing is approximately 1 week away.

lol thanks again Justin, yeah I can agree that your hints are better than PCMWs statements haha

lol, well either way, I no long have any fear of being ostracized. I'm semi-officially pledging my allegiance to xotic. I just sent them an email asking if I can do student discount along with the cash thing and if I can pay out the 30 or so bucks now for the P9500 instead of later when its released. When they do, I'm placing my order ASAP and hope I get dibs on the first batch.
I suppose the paranoid conservative in me and my time constraint made me avoid PCMW. Of course I had to make a sacrifice for this choice... I no longer can get a g5... but my mx518 still works... but if you guys want a buyer for life, throw a g5 my way, and my business is all yours. lol. -
^^I think I can answer it. You can only have one discount per order, so either 50% off shipping or cash rebate.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Actually, with Xoticpc and PowerNotebooks.com you can get both the student discount and the cash discount as long as you qualify for them.
-
^^No joking? I asked both Justin at least 5 times when I placed my order.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
^--^
I apologize.
I should only speak for PowerNotebooks.com then...if you qualify you can get both the student or military discount, plus the cash discount. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
At one time we only offered one or the other, we have since changed to providing both if you qualify. (Sorry Nirvana
, I can send you a T-Shirt or something
)
-
LOL it's only $15, so no big deal; unless it's an Armani shirt
-
Send me a T-shirt Justin, you guys lost my 3% check somewhere

How about this T-Shirt?

Man. Now I kind of get where PCMW is coming from. Yeah it is hard to give any breaks when your profit margin is so tight, as it has to be when you wait for certain customers to come along and are working within a very competetive market. Here I am referring to mostly us performance enthusiast and gamers (I'm more of the first, but still).
But PCMW seems to target a different crowd, and take (through these sales and other breaks) some of the others' market as well. It seems like, the way they present themselves on the web (their site as well as their online ads that I have seen) that they target the elitist / business / uber rich folk. And as such their prices (and profit margins as well) reflect that, at least on face value.
I know of one example that I saw on here recently of a monstrous beast of a system that, priced from retail peice by peice in a fairly loose manner still should have got them at least a 30% profit margin, which in this case could have been much as $4000 on one sale (if not more).
And if that is how they conduct their business successfully, I can't knock it. As long as I know that I am getting a good deal thats all that I care.
Don't get me wrong I am more than certain that Xotic and Powernotebooks business practices are highly successful and probably far more so than PCMW's. It all goes back to ECON Quantity vs. Quality (of sales not product). -
I demand a T-Shirt, for some reason, the 3% cash discount never made it back to me last year, and I totally forgot about it.
-
Oh to all PCMW buyers, here is another reseller that can't touch PCMW's prices on the M860TU. RJTech has it available for pre-order now with estimated ship date 7/15. With the same configuration I got for $2150 shipped ($2096 before) it costs $2614 before shipping. M-Tech $2887. Cizmo $3113. Eurocom $2963.
M-Tech, Eurocom, Myczimo, RJTech. Lets see who else can't touch the price next week. -
Wow my exact configuration with RJTech costs $2724 and $2019 with PCMW. I really hope that xoticpc and powernotebooks aren't like this.
-
european prices will alwasy be higher than the american ones.
Its amazing how all of the inteligent people are not the ones on the pcmw bandwagon. -
-
-
JUST LIKE ALIENWARE! lols.
@justin, so what are the requirements for the student discounts.
I dropped an email last night, didn't really expect a response, but since you were on...
NP5796(M570TU) available NOW at PCMW with ($450 instant rebate) & $550 instant rebate on the EDGE
