NP8660 Order Dates and Status

I'm just curious, but is there anybody who made a preorder and didn't pick a wuxga screen from XoticPC still in phase 1?

This sux... the laptop came yesterday (day early) but I wasn't home. Now I'm home today and it's still not here. Argh!!!

Now I wish I lived a bit closer to California, Shipping to Virginia is 5 days, oh well

Well, I wouldn't say I was angry, but I will say if you are going to quote me, at least do it accurately.

I never said that it would be no more than a week, I said it would be about a week...and that is what it will be.

Sager will begin shipping the WUXGA versions the week of August 25th, which is indeed about a week after August 15th.

Also, since you have quoted Justin's email to you, I suggest you read it more carefully: "We expect to ship all NP8660 orders within 3-9 business days. We are shipping orders in the order they were received. Those who have ordered on the 15th, will be the first systems shipping out. The only items that are not in stock at this time on this model is the WUXGA Display and the Blue Ray Drives."

Let's see, he states that the WUXGA is not in stock, but all orders will be shipped within a 3-9 business day window of August 15th...so that would mean they should be shipped by the 28th of August...correct?

So, what's your beef?

 

Theoretically, a solo trucker can legally get from Cali to Ohio in 4 days and a team could get in there in 2. However, UPS will be going from one of their terminals to another and it will have to be reloaded onto different trailers before it finally gets to the distribution center nearest you and then put on a local truck for final delivery. So depending on how often it needs to be reloaded is why UPS Ground takes 3-6 days. I'll give UPS and Fedex credit though, I usually get my stuff earlier rather than later. Unlike the Postal Service, which took 34 days to get a package sent Priority Mail from DC to Denver. A guy had bought something off me on Ebay and he called me last night to say it had finally showed up.

I think my biggest beef is I never got a personal notification (as in personal email, it didn't have to be addressed to me directly) from Xotic about the delay until that email. I had to read it from you instead. Time between reading your first post on the delay and that email: 2+ weeks.

I think you missed my laptop shipped yesterday, 19 August.

Mine is coming to Germany through the APO system... it will take at least 8 days... so no one should be complaining.

 

It takes 4 business days to get from Sager to Ohio via UPS Ground.

 

My reference was that I was not angry that you misquoted me on page 8 of this thread.

So, if you are going to quote me on the shipping for the WUXGA please do that accurately as well...because I did not say they would ship on the 25th, I said: "Sager will begin shipping the WUXGA versions the week of August 25th" That means they could start shipping on the 25th, or the 26th...or any day that week. It will most probably be the 25th or 26th, but until we get closer to the actual date we won't know for sure exactly what day of that week they will begin shipping.

Any yes, since I posted that information on a public forum it is quotable.

I am in phase 2 for 6 days, and the email says 3-7 days, I guess that means my laptop will be shipped tomorrow, alright!

 

Just found out my credit card got charged guess they will ship mine soon

 

does anyone have any ideas of how i can get my laptop if it comes tomorrow? im at work from 10am until 8pm and if my roommates arent home I'll miss it. the website says if you know you wont be home you can tell them to deliver it to a neighbor or something, but i live in the ghetto and my neighbors would steal it... i work only about a mile and a half away should i assume that would be too far for an alternate place to deliver it?

anyone have other ideas?

 

Just call UPS and ask them to hold it at the HUB for you...and then pick it up Friday morning. You will need a picture ID that has your shipping address on it.

 

I don't want to sound bad, but didn't you think of that when you placed the order?

I doubt that the courier will accept to deliver it to another addresss...you can ask them...
You could also try to arrange for them to deliver it a specific time either before/after or during your work and take an hour off work or something.

But if the neighbourhood is that bad, perhaps you should try to move out of that place ASAP.

One more question, my laptop is shipped on the 20th but the UPS says it will arrive my house on 26th. Is there a chance that it will arive a few days early? Since I live in Ohio, I don't think it will take 6 days for them to drive here.

They have delayed my order 2twice now..
firstly they said 10days when i payed the money
then they said late the week after the 10days..
then they said midweek the week after the week after

excuse is delayed customs for notebook parts in china due to Olympic games.

3week wait for a brand new laptop is not that bad thou... but yer getting it a week after others has upset me some... i guess my order was not that early. ... but i really wanted to get this laptop this weekend for university 3dwork ..... zzzzzzz im building a 3m zeplin model see.. its a wonderful story.

Hi, this is my first post (obviously from the little 1 i'm expecting to appear next to my name). I am also waiting for the WUXGA screen and blu-ray. However, I'm not so sure that blu-ray is even going to be available. The drive has been pulled from the order form on sager and xoticpc. Worrying.. sort of like when the GTS and the ATI HD vanished.

Maybe there's a drive shortage or something. Hopefully they'll get enough to fill the orders that have already been placed. Otherwise the resellers should have been in touch already to inform everyone they won't be available.

 

I asked [email protected] about the shortages that were affecting Eurocom.

 

According to DS Sager has the WUXGA systems and will start shipping them Monday.

My mistake.

Update in Status: Mix up with my address (my second couriers fault), package was sent back to PCMW. PCMW sent it back out with upgraded 2 day AIR.

+1 for PCMW.

 

I guess I should say that I am also waiting for the WUXGA screen. The waiting is extremely painful...

 

Yes waiting sucks. Especially when they decided to ship to Nebraska then California instead of straight to California without clearly telling me when I bought it. =/

Ahh, I believe that this little wrinkle is explained and, at any rate, the reason for doing that is to save you a ton o' cash in the form of Calif. sales tax that you don't have to pay because the system was shipped to you from out-of-state by a seller who does not do business in Calif. or have any other contacts with Calif. that would give Calif. tax jurisdiction over that seller.

Basically, take whatever the sales tax rate is that applies in your locality, multiply that rate times the price you paid to XoticPC, and that gives you the amount of moolah that gets to stay nice and comfy in your pockets instead of lining pockets in Sacramento.
