Hi to all Sager/Clevo users. I want to buy this laptop cooler for my D900F(CIZMO QI1730). Unfortunately there is only one reseller of this cooler in my country(Slovakia) and i want to buy it for the lowest possible price(in Europe),can u help me with some european resellers of this cooler(namely in Germany, Czech republic, Danemark, central Europe etc)so I can compare prices. I decided to buy this cooler but I was thinking about zalman nc 2000(or the 3000 ones)too. I read as many topics comparing these coolers as possible so I hope the Cryo will help a bit. Thx for advices. Have a nice day.
-
we wish it was that easy. these are one of the hardest coolers to find.
if you find somewhere then let me know please as i will buy 20 straight away. -
there must be some store in germany, greece, czech republic, poland or i dont know even italy which sells that cooler. it would be hard to google all the stores in europe. but thats a damn pity ive found only one internet store in my country with the cryo and the price was totally high comparing to american prices of cryo lx cause they know they are the only shop in this location with it so they can set the price for it as high as they want.
-
kobalt managed to get hold of a few a year ago and they were gone before they even touched the bench. now everyone wants one and we cant get them.
ive spent about 3 hours one night googleing and cant find anywhere who has them in stock. -
ive found only one shop in slovakia with it and the price was about 90e, totally high price. so even with the shipping it will be less to pay than to take it from the shop thatswhy i was asking. i will google it when i have time and let u know. i believe there must be some shop in germany with it.
-
So i have finally found another shop in Czech republic NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler when recounted to Eur it will cost 82eur(+ shipping), the shop in my country Tiché PC Detail produktu NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Coolerhas it for 85.41 . not a big difference
But still not as cheap as in the US.
-
great find but no good to me as i cant read the website so wouldnt know what buttons to pres
-
It looks cool, but is it worth the price diference?
P -
No, but I´m looking for the best prices that´s normal i think for a customer. i was lookingf for my d900f reseller for a long time. even if the czech resellers were closer to me i decided to buy it from cizmo in germany as the prices were better for me, and i spared almost 200e that time. so now i´m looking for some european shop with that cooler cause i believe there´s a better price then the 85e in the central europe´s shops. the original price for cryo lx in the US is about 70 dollars(maybe even less than that) and that´s about 56e!!!(1 EUR = 1,239 USD)what a difference. like ive said the only two resellers in central europe can set their prices so high because they know they are the only shops in this location. thats a pity for us, customers...still i´m looking for other european shops...
-
kobalt managed to get them for £61 including vat. im going to start my search again from a website i can actually read
-
then share your search if something appears pls..cryo lx is definitely the best option for d900f.
-
I'm busy the last few days with trying to find one too. Without prevail.
Here in the Netherlands we have a hot summer now and my XPS M1730 is crying for cooling air. Especially when I try to get my CPU @4.0GHz running stable.
In three weeks I go on holiday, so It'll be a short time for me to find one. -
still no luck from me. the search continues.

NZXT CRYO LX Aluminum Notebook Cooler
Here. Danish.
It will be hard finding this cooler anymore, anywhere - it seems that it's "not continued", out of production. -
82,94e...the same price as in Czech rep. and Slovakia. Seems that the prices are not different in Europe
Yeah, it´s pretty hard to find it. I hope NZXT will come back with something like this cooler or even better, but i think it´s not out of production. Anyway it´s one of the best cooling solutions, especially for my d900f where the cooler fits exactly to the laptop fans.
-
It doesn't really matter. It's a question of physics; in order for a cooler to help the temperatures of the D900F's CPU and GPU, the cooler's fans needs to be able to push more air into it than the D900F's own fans can. And that it won't. What it CAN help with, is cooling the underside of the laptop chassis, and in that way maybe help a little in the general coolness of the laptop. But then a cooler like the Zalman NC2000 will be just as good, or even better, because it pushes air elsewhere than where the fan vents of the D900F are.
Coolers such as these are generally better suited for laptops where the underside of the chassis tends to be a little hot. I could imagine some Macbooks and the like would be helped quite a bit with the overall inside temps ... but the D900F will not be helped much, no matter what cooler. It is quite cool already on the underside, the heat it has is located with the cpu and gpu - but it has vents a bit further down on the underside, and a cooler might help pushing some cool air into those, and help cool other warm parts inside, like the hard drives ... again, a Zalman seems a better choice then. -
yes, zalman nc 2000 is a great option but only for laptops that need to cool down the front of it, cryo lx is based to cool the back of the laptop and that´s where the cpu and gpu are in d900f. i think it´s better. i´ve read almost 20 reviews of nc2000 and cryo lx and i believe it can push down the temps by 5 degrees, maybe more. i´m expecting some zalman nc3000 reviews to see how better it really is, maybe i will change my mind and buy a zalman. but i still think cryo lx is better for cooling the back of the laptop.
-
For the M1730 it's the same. The fans are seated at the back of the laptop. That's where I want the maximum air boost from the cooler.
The only option is to build myself one.
It would be perfect when I could use it in combination with a small evaporator with an air conditioning system.
-
I played around with ventilators when I had a FS laptop. The best solution was to keep the air around the laptop cool enough. I achieved better temperatures by putting a fan to push air horizontally under the laptop.
The laptop ventilators are pushing the air parallel to the laptop (horizontally), inside the laptop, so putting an external fan to push air will not help so much.

Is this the ABSOLUTE BEST solution in notebook cooling that exists NOW ?
Reason why i'm asking is because i want to get one, and since it was first introduced in the begining of 2008, i'm having trouble finding one here in my country.
It's more than 2 years since this cooler was introduces. Are there no other better solution for cooling the d900f ? -
Well, as you can see from my posts here, I tend to disagree with the others; I think the Zalman NC2000 is just as good as the NZXT. I have a Zalman myself. Neither one will help cool the gpu or cpu directly, both of them will cool the bottom of the chassis, to some degree.
I'm sure you can find other, cheaper cooling pads that will do the job too, but the Zalman and the NZXT stands out as quality; metal (aluminium) build, sturdy, gives the laptop a better angle, gives you more USB space, looks good. The Zalman fits the D900 perfectly, and looks allmost as it's part of the laptop.
I'll say it again; neither the NZXT or the Zalman will push more air through the fan vents than the machine's own fans can. And air sucked into those vents is what cools the cpu and gpu. For that to happen, the cooling pads fans would have to be bigger and/or faster (more efficient) than the D900's fans, and they would have to have a sealed connection/funnel straight into the fan vents, so that no air could escape. And that is not the case. It is not a case of "the air from the cooling pad will be added to the air sucked in by the laptop fans" ... no. It doesn't work that way. Ask your physics teacher - if you're not one yourself
So it comes down to this: How much will cooling the bottom of the chassis help in cooling the internals of the laptop, and how much will that cooling effect help the temperatures of the gpu/cpu - indirectly.
That's why I say these two coolers are, in effect, equally good, roughly. In fact, any decent cooler or fan(s) that sets an adequate amount of air in motion beneath the laptop, will be just as good. -
I used the NC 2000 for my D901C and I tend to agree to the previous poster. This coolers can only cool down the case and the air around the laptop adn they work. I tried a cusom version with 6 ventilators and it had the same effect as with 2 or 3.

Well, anyway, it does lower the chasis by some degrees, and you also have an usb hub, You can connect the mouse and keyboard there, and wat have you...
Also the latest zalman model also has a 2.5" hdd slot, and considering both do the cooling job well, i think in the end it is more about the specs, and zalman wins here by having the hdd slot.
Also the nzxt, wins points with portability (the sliding mechanism), robust build, and the fact that it fits d900f, as you gus pointed out, like a glove.
The usb slots in the cooler, are very usefull for fitting the logitech g13 and the razer naga i'm also gonna get. To bad the d900f chasis doesn't have an usb on the back.
The Nzxt togther with the g13 naga and d900f, i think is gonna make a nice pair.
I'm inclined towards the nzxt, since you said it fits like a glove, i don't know about the zalman piece, i think it's a tight fit, the d900f has a length of 393 mm and the cooler is 400mm in length, according to specs found on net.
To bad, it doesn't have a 3.5" bay, instead of the 2.5", since it's external... But the 2.5" sure seems usefull.
Myself i'm waiting for the x7200 to appear, maybe then the d900f will get some reduction in prices, since it's gonna be phased out, and i'm also waiting for the reduction in price intel announced it's gonna introduced in the end of august for its core i7 950, price wise replacing the 930.
For now all i have to do is wait. -
I have a Zalman NC2000, and it fits like a glove, to use your words. I think the NZXT will too.
-
The NC2000 fits the D901C and the D900F.
-
I think ReDuNZL hit the nail on the head for want of a better word when he said any laptop cooler won't do what you want it to. Unless you can create a vortex from the laptop cooler direct to your fans on the underneath of your laptop, as if not, you are in essence just cooling the plastic around that area. But by creating a vortex with enough air force to cool it further you are putting more stress on the original fans.
Don't get me wrong you will see a drop in temperature but not a significant one and not where you want it and i doubt the kind of drop you are hoping for.
I myself live live in Slovakia, Michalovce to be precise and I own a NZXT Cryo LX. It is what it is, make of that what you will, however it does have sharp edges (But that has no real relevance). The one thing I have found that will drop the temperature significantly is plain old fashioned air conditioning, as a lot of you will agree not the best solution but....
The main reason for my post was just to say Shark Computers did have some a while back, but not sure what the status is now.
Good luck hunting. -
Thx for the info man. I live in Poprad and the only available shop with cryo lx is some shop in Kosice i´ve found. Another one is in czech republic as i mentioned previously. Shark comp. is not selling them any more i think. You´re right...there is no cooler for a laptop to bring down the temps as we expect. i want to see the guys that wrote that their cooler lowered the temps by 15 degrees. But i need something for d900f. my temps aren´t bad right now. cpu and gpu with max 80 degrees in load. not so bad for a d900f, however i own it only a year, almost a year, but i want to take care of it as much as possible so that i will be using it for a long time with future upgrades. Btw, has anyway tried replacing thermal compound in laptop, especially in clevo laptops?
-
At least the air is more circulating around the laptop with a notebook cooler. It's really important to get rid of the hot air leaving the laptop. I don't like the idea it's sucked back inside.
Funny.
In 2 weeks I'm on holiday visiting my family-in-law and some friends in Nitra, Levice and Trencin. -
@ rascall, It's very easy to change the thermal compound. I myself have a Clevo M980nu and like yours just unscrew the back panel and you have access to everything you need. There is a chap on here that has every manual for every Clevo ever, just track him down and follow the link in his sig. Then just follow the instructions. Is easy. What was the name of that shop in Kosice by the way?
-
i wrote it on the first page NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler for the czech shop and Tiché PC › Detail produktu › NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler for the one in Kosice. i will be forced to replace the thermal paste once, but not now after a half year of usage i think. maybe i need to upgrade my bios to the latest one as i heard it has fan improvements. however i´m scared to do it as i don´t want to send the laptop back across the europe
-
Hello,
I am necromancing this post, because I found something that might be useful to the OP. I recently bought this cooler NotePal U2 - Cooler Master It gives quite a lot of felxibililty on where to put the fans.
P -
do u think that this one is a better option?i will check some reviews. thanks for the info anyway.
-
For people in Europe this fan might also be an option. mySN has it on stock. However, Zalman 3000U/S would be my choice.
-
nice one. can someone explain that if one bigger fan is better than many smaller ones?i need just to cover the back of the laptop where cpu and gpu are and that´s where cryo lx´s fans exactly are. thatswhy im still thinking about buying the cryo but in my country it´s too overpriced. still i think the cryo lx is worth to buy for my d900f.
-
the cryo LX is worth every single penny!
-
I think both fans will give you about the same airflow. The advantage of having one big fan over several smaller is noise. One big fan at low rpm can create the same aiflow than several small fans that have to run at higher rpm to create the same airflow thereby creating more noise. Also I the airflow of one big fan will be more even and if you mod it a little bit you are able to run it at higher rpms which greatly improves airflow to regions you will not reach with smaller fans.
-
so u think zalman nc3000 will be a better option for d900f instead of cryo lx?and how to mod the big fan pls?

I just managed to bag a cryo lx within the UK....today....i could hardly believe my luck when after hours and days of searching for someone who had them, i revisited some of the stockist i had as showing as "none in" and low and behold, they had it....no need to ask wether or not i bought it.....pretty good deal too at £59 all inclusive of vat and next day delivery. Its gonna be a great match for my m17x!!
Im like a 10 yr old on the night before christmas!
-
mind posting where it is you got it?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Sure no worries.....i trawled the internet today and found that Scan.co.uk: Leading supplier of Computer Hardware had them in stock.....i obviously got on the phone straight away and he said it was the last one they had....i thought maybe that was a salesmans bluff but i wasnt going to argue as had been looking for one for ages.
Dont know if they have more but its worth a shot...i hope they do for everyone interested in buying one from the UK.
Good luck! -
I saw a review of the fan I posted where it dropped load temps by 10°C. Thats pretty good. I saw another review of the NC3000 where it dropped temps by 2°C. But it's all dependent on where the laptop gets its cold air. The Zalman 3000 series has an even bigger fan that the cooler I linked (220mm vs 200) so it should be even better. By "modding" I mean you could connect a stronger power adapter, they can be powered not only through USB but also through a power adapter. I once used a power adapter of my external HDD for an old laptop cooler, it almost doubled the fan speed - but of course it may increase the chance of the cooler failing.
-
dalm,too late.
thanks for the link steviejones133
been hunting for ages. if they get more in ill be buying in bulk cos i know many members are after them.
edit. ive searched through their page but cant find it on their website anymore. just rang and they said if its now not on the website they wont be getting any more stock in.
stevie, have you got the direct link to the page that you saw it on as search also comes up with nothing. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hiya.
Had a look and i now get "product not found" too....the link to the page where i found it is here Scan.co.uk: Leading supplier of Laptops Accessories but i dont see it listed anymore.....
It arrived an hour ago...bit suprised as when i spoke to them, they told me it was silver/rubber but seems i have a black one.....thats fine with me....its also a bit on the dusty side so i reckon im gonna have to strip it down and clean it up a bit....must have been one they "found" lurking in the back im thinking....
Nonetheless, mega happy that i managed to find one at all as wasnt looking forward to the possibility of importing one...
Hope you manage to find one soon....
-
yup, thats the page i was searching. oh well, they said they wont be getting anymore in so as you said it was most prob found in a corner somewhere. congrats on finding one.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Ive just set it up and noticed something which i think is a bit odd.....it has an adjustable fan speed wheel on the right hand side but it doesnt seem to increase the fans......i mean i cant feel the air being any more "forceful" coming out of the slots and it doesnt get any louder at all.....
Dya think theres something wrong with it? -
the cryo LX needs both of the provided plugs (the AC to USB & USB to USB) to be fully powered. one plug is to power the fan, and the other is to power the USB hub. if u use only one plug to power the fans, and the USB hub, the cooler will not be running at 100%.
-
what houstoned said
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I got both plugged in on the right side of my m17x....DC on the port nearest the front and USB-USB on the port nearest the back....its working but the fans dont seem to go any quicker etc between lowest and highest setting....also the usb hub doesnt seem to work! -
hmm, that could be why they had one left then, its knakered and been returned.

Thats what im thinking too.......
