Better build quality/support? It's a tough choice but if the Sager has better cooling I wouldn't mind paying an extra $100 and giving up the backlit keyboard.

Because HPs are practically designed to fail exactly 1 month after the 1 year warranty runs out?

yes just like how my 2008 dv5 failed after almost 4 year....oh wait, that's right, it still working perfectly

all laptops are vulnerable to a crash at some point after heavy usage .. faster if not maintained well so let's not generalize please.

lol i have heard about hp's bad rep of qc but I would believe that majority of the products cant fail in such a short period of time otherwise they would be outta buisiness. u just proved it haha

but yeah the newer ones are so far much more reliable from what i have heard

hmm built quality would be a good point. As for support I heard HP is very generous.. for in warranty things i believe. idk about cooling tho. If both get the job done relatively well... and I wouldnt mind having the backlit keyboard :)

as in this week? or first part of next week? I cant wait!!! I want one so bad!!!
if they wait too long it will be the 29th and Ivy will be out.

any news on if its compatible with the i7-3612QM?

this would be the BEST laptop imho if its compatible with that chip. I plan on ordering the barebones from you guys then adding that CPU to it.

Oh I didn't know they could have the 95% screen, Upgrading is possible? I thought the 650m would be soldered on

not very familiar with mSATA :s could you explain it a teenee bit?

Also, is there a major difference b/w the wifi cards?

Hp is suppose to have dem Beats speakers+subwoofer idk how Onkyo compare

The video card is but you can change out the drives, the optical, the memory, etc etc. The 95% gamut matte is really nice.

mSATA is a specification basically its a SSD on a card, it allows the use of an extra drive without using a drive bay. We just tested a brand new 240GB mSATA ssd that we will be rolling out, it beats the speed of an Intel 320 SSD so its plenty of pickup as a boot drive. See attached

Yes there is a different with wifi see this here AnandTech - Bigfoot?s Killer-N 1102 Wireless Networking vs. the World

Audio is audio on these. Beats is nothing more than a brand, just like onkyo =)

alright thanks for the explaination +repped. ya thats what I was thinking for what the mSATA would be. how many laptops have this right now? Is this relatively new? Do they require special ssds? or can I just like pop in any old one?

Simlar questions with the wireless. I had the chance to skim the page you linked me to ( im supposed to be do hw) and this is the conclusion I came to. Is it basically that if you have a controlled connection, the wireless cards differ in picking up the wifi (with different streams or whatnot) leading to faster speeds? Do any of the regular OEMs provide the upgraded wireless cards/allow aftermarket upgrades?

and yeah I know beats is more of a gimmick more than anything but there is differences in notebook speakers, the JBLs in the Dell xps are suppose to be quite nice, how do the beats and the onokyo compare?

Cant wait till we get pics and more info on pricing on Ivy cpu's. sounds like this laptop is going to be perfect. (with the 35 watt quad) just hope intel prices that quad decently.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but here goes.

Once Ivy Bridge is released, how long will it take for them to be available for order on these machines? Should it be the same for retailers like XoticPC and Malibal? IB is all I'm waiting for based on the advice given here on NBR and pretty much anywhere. I was just curious about whether the upcoming release date will be the first day I can place the order or not.

Thanks in advance and if there is a better forum/thread for this question, I'll be looking for it right now. As you can tell, FNG.

Wait for IB, the time frame is to small to not wait. Basically around a week for newer generation technology is a no-brainer type wait.

And it will be available immediately for order as soon as the NDA lifts, as IB has been pulled a week, it will be around April 23rd for the retailers to show the IB options.

I just hope there's the 3612QM available for this model.

ok i know the screen sucks for the w110er but what exactly will the matted option do exactly.... cept reduce glare.... i mean my m14x is super glossy but i bring it everywhere, guess because it is super bright also i can use it outside sometimes.

Yep, glare. If it's bright enough, it doesn't matter... as much. But I doubt the 11.6" screen will be all that bright to circumvent the glare outdoors. If I end up with the W110ER I will either entertain swapping my screen or getting a matte protector.

Remember we build these ourselves, and put a lot more hand testing and tuning into each one to make sure they run properly, stably, and cool. Not just reselling a laptop that we don't touch =)

XoticPC has it on their website.
    Sager NP6165 / Clevo W150ER - XOTIC PC - Sager 15.6" Laptop

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not sure I see much of a point to that PC. It's much more underpowered and doesn't seem to be much lighter or smaller at all than the P150EM/P151EM series. The only evident appeal I see is the cheaper price tag... but another $200 would make all the difference.

    [edit]: Right. Battery life.

Its great for people who arent concerned about top end gaming but still want to be able do some while on the go. The lower price is perfect if you dont want to spend money on a graphics card you're not going to take advantage of. For high end gaming obviously its not the best choice.

And just a FYI the NP6110 and NP6175 were just taken off pre order status too :)

I have been following W110 from this topic for quite a while, and I thought Id just register to drop a few comments.

    I ordered mine with the following specs which should roughly provide you with what sort of hardware it could contain;

    - Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM 4-Cores; 6MB L3; 2.30GHz > 3.30GHz; 1600 MHz; 45W; 22nm
    - 2GB GDDR3 nVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M 128-Bit DX11
    - 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz CL9 SODIMM
    -120GB Corsair Force 3 GT 6GB/sn

Should be recieving it in the following month or the first week of the next one. Will post a review as soon as I get it of course :)

    >Edit: I wonder if replacing the HDD with a SSD has an effect on weight? I wasnt able to get my hands on a SSD before, therefore I wouldnt know if its actually heavier than the HDD or perhaps lighter.

that is around 1000$ US for the quad core, think it might be cheaper in the states, and we are getting a weaker cpu, would that be cheaper.

Actually the specs I posted above will cost me,including the SSD,exactly 1.222$,as there is a discount for the first 20 orders. So price wise, its pretty fair considering I am not even in the US.

A typical 2.5" HDD weighs around 120 grams (~4 oz), SSD about 80 grams (~3 oz), but mSATA beats them both at less than 10 grams (~½ oz).

So yes, it does have an effect, whether you're likely to notice is a different matter.

This may be a ridiculously n00bish question, but is there an owner's lounge for the W150ER? I couldn't find one...
Also, does anyone know if buying a Sager with Sandy Bridge after IVB is released will be cheaper than they are now? Or will all Sandy Bridge Sagers be retired immediately and there won't be a choice to buy one?
    Thanks!
