    Thats awesome!!

I hope they release a BIOS revision for 5793 too, to support 280M :)

Oh, I forgot to mention that the TDP numbers on that chart were estimates, and probably incorrect. No way the M860TU could handle a >75w chip. The 260M is probably the same wattage as the 9800M GT, or less.

Rather, how does it compare to the 4860. And will Clevo decide to support ATi cards in the M860TU.

Highly unlikely. The 5793 will not even run the 9800M GTX due to BIOS restrictions. If you want the newest gfx cards, you need the newest model machine (M570TU in that line)

Does anyone have benchmarks comparing GTX260 to 9800M GTS/GT/GTX?

What is the performance increase from a 9800M GTS to GTX 260?

apparently the the GTX260m is the 9800m GTX with better clock speeds and smaller chip. So there will be a slight increase in performance in the GTX 260m compared to the 9800m GTX.

    GTX 280m>GTX 260m>9800m GTX>GT>GTS>GS

It just hit me that this will be the first ever 15.4" with Core 2 Quad support. Plus it has the freaking GTX 260M coming in hot off the production line. Isn't that crazy?

Chalk up another milestone record for Clevo.

Best right now to me is the T9800, but if I was buying one today, I'd say the T9550 would be the best choice from a price to performance standpoint.

Intel is now hinting at having multiple 3+ Ghz CPUs coming out in Q2 of this year though.

2x GTX 280M will also fit, but there's no guarantee that they'll work without a new BIOS.

I upgraded from my P8600 because I needed more speed for the RTS I play, but if you don't play them, you should just wait.

...and in addition to that, Real-time Strategy games tend to be more CPU than GPU intensive, compared to other games.

Yap, that's the only problem left.
The thing is, Clevo doesn't make its own GPU card. So making a BIOS update to make older laptop able to use newer GPU could hurt the sales of their newest laptop.

I wondering though, the above case can be applied to desktop market too. But why desktop motherboard maker still update their BIOS to support new CPU/GPU even though it can also hurt the sales of their new motherboard.

Talking about RTS, will the graphic card be the bottleneck in the end or will the processor be in this NP8662? (let's say it has a T9550 or Q9000)
By guess and by experience of course since it's still on pre-order xD

Very glad you are aware of that.

And to be honest, it will depend on the game. ;)

WIC is somewhat CPU limited on my Clevo. I tried running at 1920 x 1080 and 1440 x 900 and got about the same min/max/avg FPS.

A quad core might arguably outperform a higher clocked dual core in an optimized RTS like Supreme Commander , but I don't know if the .66 Ghz may prove insurmountable for the 2.0 Ghz quad.

I suggest the T9550, since more games out there support dual core than quad core. Plus it's cheaper :)

Well the question wasn't whether I am getting the T9550 or Q9000, but it is something I am questioning myself about :D. Basically I wanna know if the Q9000 will be the bottleneck in some games so that I should get the duo 2.66 ghz instead.

And the answer is yes. Some new games can use quad-core, while most older games and some new games cannot. In those games that can support quad-core, you will have a big advantage. But in those games than only support dual-core, you will essentially have a dual-core 2Ghz processor, which is a distinct disadvantage is most games, even those than mainly emphasize the graphics card.

Depends on the price you are willing to pay. A 9800M GTS is still a highly decent card but you will notice a performance boost from the 260M. All I can say is that I'll be buying the upgrade when it's available.

There is currently NO option for overclocking the CPU on the M860TU. Not throught the BIOS nor through 3rd party software.

Guys, as someone here mentioned above, how is GTX 260M compared to HD4850? Just theoretically, HD4850 in GT725 was running games much better than 9800M GTX right? What percentage advantage will have HD4850 over GTX 260M? I wonder what is TDP of that Ati (will it fit in 15inch?)

That interesting dont you think? :)

Btw, last week I ordered a Sager NP8660 (on Friday) with P9600 2.66GHZ , 4GB Dual Channel memory, 320GB HDD 7200rpm and NVidia Geforce 9800GTS 512MB. While making a cheque payment, the company representative called me and asked whether I want to upgrade the 9800GTS to GTX 260M1GB? I said: YES since it's free upgrade from their Sager HQ. So, the ETA was delayed until the end of this month. Can't wait for that.

I can give a shot as to why they did that. As I recall, the 8660 is out of stock till the end of the month, which is when the 8662s are released , giving him the upgrade doesn't cost the reseller anything. In fact, they probably don't have any 8660s to give him, as they have to order it from Sager and wait for delivery. Since Sager doesn't have any 8660s, he gets a "free" upgrade to the GT260M.

PS: If it was cubehubs, just take a note that Sager does not recognize them as an official reseller.
