For the sake of diverse I/O I think having the chipset by itself is a good idea, however it would be nice to have the 16x on the cpu be dynamic like the chipset and have 8x going to the south bridge.
This would still leave room for the x99 platform.

October?

So is there any word about 4K AND 120Hz AND VR Ready guys? Is Pascal up to the task for all 3?
-
PCGamer has a source that says the new Pascal mobile chips won't have an "M" designation anymore like the 980 this past summer...
They are saying August or September. Hopefully they'll be out in full force by October.

Hmmm.... I understand that Kaby Lake will be released this year too, how will that impact the new models in any way?
-
If this is true, the important question us Clevo/Sager (and other brands that derive from Clevo) owners will ask is...
"Will these come in MXM modules?" -

Well any chip that may exist in the future obviously can't be on a regular desktop PCB, that's obvious. As to the exact form any future chip may take then... NDA sorry.

So, someone should start the 2017-18 thread and watch the comments to come (upgradeable GPUs will come up a lot)...

And *proper* Kaby Lake (or even Cannonlake?) CPUs

I feel like Clevo will skip Kaby Lake and go directly to Cannonlake, similarly to what they kinda did to Broadwell (although there were a few Broadwell Clevo models sold), Cannonlake should be here by the end of 2017.

Some manufacturers are already announcing laptops with Kaby Lake CPUs, but they are from the U series
I won't be surprised if Clevo announces Kaby Lake CPUs from the HQ series in the first half of 2017, then Cannonlake at end 2017
New batch of Clevo notebooks for 2015-2016 wishes/expectations?
