That's what Fn+1 is for...![]()

A very crude way compared to programming in your own fan profile (and not all machines have it) and the noise is worse than the MSI IMO.
-
Fn+1 has one annoying thing about it - the fan "pulses", it spins up and down non-stop and its annoying as hell.
Clevo needs to do something.
Fan profiles!!! It cannot be that hard to implement now, can it? -
Personally, I'm just hoping the P370EM's replacement comes along in a nice timely manner. I won't be able to get a machine until September, and that was what I was aiming for. But I'd LOVE a better, cooler and more power efficient Haswell CPU with it. I would also hope immensely that the 780Ms would be released at this time, so that SLI 780Ms and a nice 3740QM-Haswell-counterpart CPU will last me a good 5+ years.
Do you think that's a reasonable expectation? I know the flagship mobile GPUs come out a while after the flagship desktop ones. -
5+ years? in that case u could just go for 680m sli and a 3740qm and those should last u 4+ years

September? Maybe wait till November and thats when the Haswell refresh is probably gonna get a 100-200mhz bump!
In both my Clevos, I waited for this.
200mhz bonus is always welcome! -

Bad last year's april fools joke was bad.
No really that was their april fools joke last year -
Dialup David Notebook Consultant
Oh, if that is the case LOL...
I was reading another article about 16Gb Memory modules coming out soon, so 96Gb seem'd not to far fetched.
I wasjust thinking about how that would probably cost nearly 8-10k$ -
We cant use 96GB, the OS is limited to 64GB.
EDIT: Or was it 128GB? -
depends which OS ure talking about
win8 is up to 128GB, pro is 512GB

April fools lol, I should have known that's what you were referencing, my brain had just blanked it out for it's own sake
-

Lol, I bet we're no father than a year or two from that becoming a reality. If their is money to be made, it will come.
-
Has anybody heard any news about a ~13in gaming laptop? I remember a lot of us were looking for one of those last year. I was happy with my W110ER, but for gaming and development, another inch or two seems like it would have made all the difference while still maintaining portability.
-
well just check post no.8 of this thread, if u havent already

We wont see 4 graphics cards, its just not physically viable and the mobile chips dont support it. -
Dialup David Notebook Consultant
That's what they said about Desktop CPU's, and even a single Descrete GPU.
Then they did both of those, And Sli/CFX.
I have no doubt as GPU die size, and TDP gets smaller and smaller they will make something to accomodate that need.
I feel a 18-19" Laptop could be in the works for Clevo/Sager in the future, much like the x8100. (Which in my eyes was too far ahead of its time to get the propper hardware/performance for the size) -
4-graphics won't make sense in laptops. Its always more efficient to have just one (beefier) than two or 4 weaker ones.
What the black ops guys have at their Area-51 labs (among others) is another story.
We - the regular customers (and ignorant fools, cause thats what we are) - have to make do with just dual graphics laptops, with only 10-30% performance increase annually.
They have things out there in the desert that can make George Lucas ragequit on everything StarWars related.
Technology that is about~ 150 years more advanced than this. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Even 19" would be a squeeze for 4 cards and you get VERY rapidy diminishing returns on SLI or Xfire for 3-4 cards.
It would actually at that point make more sense to have two titan based GPUs with extended heatsinks. -
Dialup David Notebook Consultant
Didn't mean to make this into a whole debate... Just my thoughts.
Who the heck knows what the next 5-10 years will hold for us? I mean with AMD leaving the x86 Architecture all together and moving completely over to ARM in the next decade, it is going to leave the legacy to IBM and Intel.
Should be exciting anyways.. I love having these discussions with you guys.!
-

Well look at the current trends, we are moving towards smaller and smaller devices, the larger 20" frames have been gone for some time and no one really makes display panels at that size, combine that with very small returns and a very niche market you would be targeting along with all of the design issues along with mobile CPUs being much closer to their desktop counterparts.
It's hard to predict the future but it does not mean you can't practically rule out certain configurations. -
This is going to be big (assuming this is correct)
I'll have some information up ASAP, we are close
-
keep us updated jaug

Yeah I can see these flying off the shelves if it's true with the 1080p screen.
-
Great info in this thread. Now I need to decide if I should wait or pull the trigger on the Sager NP9370 as my 7805u needs to be retired.
-
Man this will be so hard to resist not buying
One thing I hope with these next gen models is a slightly sleeker and sexier look and quieter, don't mind the form factor but want something just a bit snazzier.
Will be keeping an eye on this thread for sure. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's hard making a deeper 11 inch or 13 inch look sleek but the 11 inch does not look bad IMO.
-
No it looks fine ( I have one) but there can always be improvements. With a slightly bigger chassis you have more to work with. It will be interesting to see what the new models look like. Anyone have an idea as to when we might see them?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It will also depend on the inclusion of an optical drive or not.
-
I´ll go to see the new clevos on Cebit.
-
I hope they don't make the brain dead decision to include an optical drive. Then the internals will have less cooling volume than the W110ER.
-
This is Clevo. Expect at least one brain dead decision per model.
-
I'm not sure how they could fit an optical drive into a 13" model if you are going to included a dedicated gfx card... seems like if you want an optical drive and keep things cool you would opt for just using the integrated gpu ala last gen MacBook Pro 13". IMHO, optical drives are becoming less needed due to a bulk of digital downloads largely due to OS's can now be downloaded, or use a flash drive to install. I don't think you'll see them disappear in the 15"+ models anytime soon, but for anything smaller than a 14" I really don't see the point. I do agree that removing the optical drive in favor of a better cooling solution is what the enthusiast crowd wants, but it will really depend on what the mass market wants... and if they want an optical drive in a 13" body, that is what they are gon'na put in it.
-
well, lucky us clevo is actually all about us enthusiasts. not that ive seen any clevo models at best buy or similar chains yet

Best Buy.
Ive only read stories about some ASUS RoG machines with horribly gimped GPUs.
Whats best in that, its beyond me. -
Back from Cebit. SM Series are there.
-
Were they the "flashier" chassis or the same ones with the updated hardware? Any pics? Details?
-
what he said.... just like in the other thread! u cant just throw in a statement like this and then disappear! DETAILS!
-
found something, check it out: Google Translate (article)
http://www.notebookinfo.de/artikel-...ozessoren-und-nvidia-geforce-gtx-grafik/3337/ (picture gallery)
includes info and pics on the new P375SM and W230ST
damn, theyre definitely heading towards alienware with the new design... or rather Asus RoG, actually -
Oh well, while I like the W230ST the look of the P375SM ain´t my taste
.
I hope that there will a less flashier P370SM
. Since it could be my next notebook after mx X7200
.
-
nice find, they look pretty awesome, but the 17incher looks quite thick. is that the successor of the P170EM? single gfx no sli?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2 -
i know right? its too flashy for my taste as well. but rumors said that this is just gonna be a special edition kinda thing, so there should also be the regular clevo style models as well. at least i sure hope so...
thats the successor of the P370EM, dual gpu machine
-
There will be "a less flashy" option for 370SM.
Clevo's thoughts behind the flashy design: There, this is what you get when you couple an Asus with a Clevo, then couple it with Alienware and lastly let it couple with MSI.
ARE YOU CUSTOMERS HAPPY NOW?!?!
Customers: Not really.... -
anyone noticed the outward facing webcam on the lid? thats a pretty neat idea
dual-cam baby!
-
Ye....i wondered what it was.
Im not sure for the metallic-painted back grills....if it were metal, ok. But its plastic paint....
I love the all-matte surface though.
Dont like the soundcard (it will be ALC892 again im 100% sure).
Dont like the USB port placement (no USBs on the left grrrrr).
Kinda like the speaker grill and mousepad looks.
Love the lights (hope they can be turned off for office use).
Overall....not bad, but again....USB port placement is....irrational. -
Looks like an Asus clone, except Asus still does it better. I'd prefer they went with a more conservative design, something simple like the Dell Precision series.
-
agreed, they should rather keep their own clevo-typical design to stand out from the crowd, rather than cloning their competitor´s designs.
-
I am fine with the P375SM and similiar stuff as long as I can choose between them and the more classic Clevo design with the same specs. It could make sense for Clevo when they get kind of a new "market" for them. Though I don´t know if the looks of the new models will be accepted, can´t say because I neither like the Alienware/ MSI look nor the new Clevo look
.
-
P370SMx shoud be the version without "Tribals" and LID design option, while P375SMx comes with it, did you notice the "partial P15xSM?" on the pick with the 3D glasses?
-
Yep, you are right, at first I thought it was another P375SM, but it´s smaller, so it could be the P155SM?!
